Elk/Beaver Lake articles
Hi; just 'cause you're an [ex-]Victorian or "Greater Victorian" anyway, so perhaps you might want to take on Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park and the accompnaying lake article, which is pretty much the same in content and also in being entirely unwikified; I added templates but am not really good with formatting; some here seems POV or very subjective anyway; the line about buying the Saanich Peninsula for so many blankets doesn't mention the Douglas Treaties, just "traders" (and in latter-day eyes that doesn't sound like a lot of money, in the trade currency that was a lot of blankets) so like a lot of stuff it has subjective-preservation/interpretation-of-facts though not as bad as some we've seen. I wound up finding this after looking up the Colquitz River as a result of something else etc...it starts at Beaver Lake, y'see....I'll stub up that article (Colquitz) though it would be good to know where its waterfalls are (its name, in one meaning, means "waterfall" in North Straits Salish, but Esquimalt and Songhees versions are different....). Anyway, plopping this in your lap, if you don't mind; I'll also let KenWalker know of its existence.Skookum1 (talk) 21:25, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes, and Yes
Thanks for your post on the Christianity article. I totally get where you are coming from. The issue isn't in trying to define Anglicans as non-Catholic. Yes, they are Catholic, and yes, they are Protestant. It's just that Protestant doesn't need an explanation and Catholic does -- so, Protestant AND Catholic is best explained in an article devoted to Anglicans, like

Advice requested
Would you please look at this and advise me whether you think the very strong support for moving the article that has been won within that group makes it so likely that the project will pass when voted on in a wider forum that it is not worth my while attempting to debate it. One participant has proposed a time limit of one week for voting after the project is formally proposed. I know this is a tough question to deal with, and that you may very well have to respond with "Do whatever you think is best", and so it may be best for you to give no response; but if you do feel you can give advice, one way or the other, I would certainly give much weight to your wisdom and your experience both as an editor and an Administrator.

]Archbishop of Papua New Guinea
Greetings to you in Sechelt from Brisbane, Australia. Someone has created an article "Archbishop of Papua New Guinea" and referred in it to the "Archdiocese of Papua New Guinea." In fact there's no such office and no such archbishopric. This I suppose calls for a merge proposal (not that I know how to do that) but in fact there isn't anything in the article that merits transferring into the article on the Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea (which is in fact an Anglican "Province" -- in the sense that the Anglican Church of Canada, the Church of South India and so on are provinces of the Anglican Communion, but it is also only one ecclesiastical province as well, there being only one metropolitan). How do you think this ought to be dealt with? Masalai (talk) 04:35, 5 September 2009 (UTC)

Dominion of Canada
With respect, I don't think your rationale for deleting the 'Dominion of' in the North-West Rebellion and Battle of Batoche articles is correct. The naming conventions say "If the place does not exist anymore, or the article deals only with a place in a period when it held a different name, the widely accepted historical English name should be used". 'Dominion of Canada' was the widely held name at the time, and as such is still valid for the article.McMuff (talk) 21:36, 1 February 2012 (UTC)
- The name of the country was always Canada, which happened to be a Dominion. It would be akin to referring to France as the French Republic, which is technically correct, but superfluous. fishhead64 (talk) 09:29, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
MSU Interview
Dear Fishhead64,
My name is Jonathan Obar user:Jaobar, I'm a professor in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at Michigan State University and a Teaching Fellow with the Wikimedia Foundation's Education Program. This semester I've been running a little experiment at MSU, a class where we teach students about becoming Wikipedia administrators. Not a lot is known about your community, and our students (who are fascinated by wiki-culture by the way!) want to learn how you do what you do, and why you do it. A while back I proposed this idea (the class) to the communityHERE, where it was met mainly with positive feedback. Anyhow, I'd like my students to speak with a few administrators to get a sense of admin experiences, training, motivations, likes, dislikes, etc. We were wondering if you'd be interested in speaking with one of our students.
So a few things about the interviews:
- Interviews will last between 15 and 30 minutes.
- Interviews can be conducted over skype (preferred), IRC or email. (You choose the form of communication based upon your comfort level, time, etc.)
- All interviews will be completely anonymous, meaning that you (real name and/or pseudonym) will never be identified in any of our materials, unless you give the interviewer permission to do so.
- All interviews will be completely voluntary. You are under no obligation to say yes to an interview, and can say no and stop or leave the interview at any time.
- The entire interview process is being overseen by MSU's institutional review board (ethics review). This means that all questions have been approved by the university and all students have been trained how to conduct interviews ethically and properly.
Bottom line is that we really need your help, and would really appreciate the opportunity to speak with you. If interested, please send me an email at [email protected] (to maintain anonymity) and I will add your name to my offline contact list. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can post your nameHERE instead.
If you have questions or concerns at any time, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I will be more than happy to speak with you.
Thanks in advance for your help. We have a lot to learn from you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Obar --Jaobar (talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chlopeck (talk • contribs) 23:27, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
Hello, Fishhead64. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
In July and August 2016,
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that
A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi Fishhead64.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at
