Shifting focus

Not sure for how long yet, but I am going to take a break for now from adding new articles. That does also mean a break from the alphabetical work on Dragon mag reviews for now, but of course that does not have to stop you from adding reviews to articles that you find on your own or that I already indicated, if you wish.  :) Meanwhile, I have been giving a lot of thought to improving existing tabletop games articles in other ways, and possibly even getting back some articles that have been deleted, so if you are interested we can take a look into those? There are draft articles I want to restore and redirected articles, there are articles that have had cleanup templates for many years, that sort of thing. Let me know, I have plenty of ideas.  :) BOZ (talk) 00:06, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It sounds like a good strategy. Let me know how I can help.Guinness323 (talk) 02:51, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You are awesome, as always.  :) First of all, one of my pet projects is to get draft articles into article space. I have almost 30 of them at the moment, how about it we take a look and see what can be done with them? (I have had a few dozen get put back into article space already, but let us not worry about those for now!) A few were drafts written by other people that have not been published, but most are former articles that were subjected to some sort of deletion process. I dunno, let me grab a few and see what you can do with them?

How about starting with:

Draft:Steven Belledin for now to see what you can find? BOZ (talk) 03:26, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply
]

Looks good, I'll get started as soon as I finish the Ds.Guinness323 (talk) 05:45, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah no rush, there's plenty of other stuff going on meanwhile. :) BOZ (talk) 12:57, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How are you? I hope you're well. I'm better than I was. :) BOZ (talk) 04:24, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Had some free time after Christmas guests left, but all sorts of stuff on my plate now (urgghhh). I try to look at AfDs every day and see if there's anything I can do, and managed to create a page for Breakers (how did that get missed?), but yeah, my time will be a bit limited for a few weeks. Glad things are better for you. Here's a book, BTW, that I hadn't run across before: "Playing at the World, a History of Simulating Wars, People and Fantastic Adventures, from Chess to Role-playing Games", by Jon Peterson, 2012, Unreason Press. My local library doesn't have it, I'm trying to see if I can find a copy for a reasonable price, could be a good source. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0615642047/ref=rdr_ext_tmb) Guinness323 (talk) 05:05, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah, I am well aware of that book and wish I had a copy. :) It is generally considered one of the best reliable sources about D&D/RPGs. :) Jump back in whenever you are ready and available. BOZ (talk) 05:48, 25 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How about looking at Moffat next? BOZ (talk) 14:12, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Proving to be a tough nut to crack -- lots of self-promotion, not much press... Guinness323 (talk) 04:06, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You did have a little luck finding sources on some foreign topics; do you see anything useful for Adventurers of the North - Kalevala Heroes or Kalmo? BOZ (talk) 00:50, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To give myself something more positive to focus on, I started articles on a number of

Origins Award winners, figuring that if I had the award and at least one review, that should help their sustainability. :) If you wanted to see what you could do with those, you can take a look: System 7 Napoleonics, Tournament of Dreams, Star Wars Sourcebook, Miskatonic U. Graduate Kit, S. Petersen's Field Guide to Cthulhu Monsters, The Great Old Ones, BattleTech Compendium, Harlequin, Seattle Sourcebook, Genestealer, Horror on the Orient Express, GURPS Cyberpunk Adventures, Nuclear Proliferation, GURPS Vampire: The Masquerade, Six-Guns & Sorcery, and Wadjet. :) BOZ (talk) 00:38, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply
]

Also, since it would be better if I did not reach out to you directly to find sources for articles at AFD anymore, I will just suggest that you don't forget to have Wikipedia:WikiProject Role-playing games/Article alerts, Wikipedia:WikiProject Dungeons & Dragons/Article alerts, and Wikipedia:WikiProject Board and table games/Article alerts on your watchlist, and you will never go wrong. :) BOZ (talk) 22:49, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Adding to the above list, I did not start them but another user recently started articles on award-winning PBM games Lords of Destiny and Illuminati, in case you have anything you would want to add to them. :) BOZ (talk) 20:37, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You can do these Origins winners now or later; I am working on a plan for how to move forward on the alpha list of Dragon reviews. BOZ (talk) 14:31, 26 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you see anything useful for Draft:Chris S. Sims (game designer)? BOZ (talk) 01:53, 5 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! How about anything for Draft:William Jones (game designer)? BOZ (talk) 00:46, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to your help, Jones has passed AFC and is back in article space. :) BOZ (talk) 12:09, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for doing what you can on these. Also, if you get a chance, could you please check to see if there are any more sources for Warrior Knights and The Iceman Returneth? BOZ (talk) 12:40, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, and how about a couple more authors, namely
Draft:Don Bassingthwaite? BOZ (talk) 11:35, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply
]
First though, since there is talk of deleting it, you might want to look at Ron Edwards (game designer) if you have the chance. BOZ (talk) 23:50, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good work so far on Soesbee. :) Scott Palter died a few days ago, in case you are up to tackling that one. I haven't started an article yet on Kim Eastland who died last month though. BOZ (talk) 02:51, 20 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The Unspeakable Oath has a Dragon review, and I am wondering if there is anything more? BOZ (talk) 16:43, 13 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Do you see anything more than can be added to Bruce Neidlinger<? BOZ (talk) 16:01, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For a person involved so heavily in a company for 20+ years, you'd think there would be interviews, articles, profiles, etc. But, absolutely nothing yet. Still looking... Guinness323 (talk) 19:06, 14 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To give fair time to the critics, sometimes we cover topics like Playing with Fire (Moody Press). :) Do you see anything else anywhere that could improve it? BOZ (talk) 22:46, 17 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I wonder what sources might exist for
Draft:Dwarven Forge, as I imagine they are far more notable than what that new user was able to demonstrate. BOZ (talk) 23:33, 18 March 2020 (UTC)[reply
]

OK, so one thing I had been working on was to start new articles for Origins Award winners that did not already have articles. I got through everything for which I could find at least one more review, and I was left with 9 winners from the 1970s, 26 from the 1980s, 43 from the 1990s, 64 from the 2000s, and I have yet to do the 2010s, but I listed them all at Wikipedia:Requested articles/Arts and entertainment#Origins Award winners. I know that some many never have articles, but I'm sure a lot of them can. A good chunk of what is left is for wargames and other board games, so since I know you have access to some magazines that I do not have, I was wondering if you would be willing to pick out some entries from that list and see what you can find? I'll happily start off some stubs as I usually do, and then you can work your magic on them. :) BOZ (talk) 04:29, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • To make it a bit easier, for example, I copied these from the request page:
1980
Yep, I've already copied the entire list into a document so I can do text to text searches through magazines. Notyhing yet for any of them, but I'll keep on looking. Unfortunately most of them in the 1970s are wargames, which had very limited coverage other than small 'zines. Guinness323 (talk) 04:18, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
One I've been wondering about; JagdPanther (magazine) won the Origins Award in 1975 on its own, but in 1976 we had a "Jagdpanther/Battlefield" as the winner for Best Amateur Magazine - I wonder if that was a name change, a merger, or a tie? BOZ (talk) 01:39, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Jagdpanther Publications (foreunner of Task Force Games) published 14 issues of Jagdpather. It was pretty am,ateurish to begin with, but by Iss #14, was pretty professional looking. The publishing company decided to go in a different direction with their magazine, and named Iss #15 Battlefield. Then they ceased publication as they became Task Force Games. So the Origins Award had to be given to two names, since the last issue was Battlefield. Guinness323 (talk) 03:53, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK thanks, that makes sense! I added the second award to the article. I found this[4] but did not feel it was RS enough to add to the article as a source about the name change. I will start articles on the above games later today. :) BOZ (talk) 11:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I stumbled upon Empire (miniatures game) more or less by accident; it had been deleted by PROD due to no sources, even though it won an Award and made it into the Hall of Fame apparently! Is there anything else you can salvage for that one? BOZ (talk) 21:01, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you have the time to invest some work on his article, it looks like Brian Blume has just died. BOZ (talk) 12:21, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent, thank you. :) Often enough, the best time to build up an article is right after someone dies... BOZ (talk) 20:27, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I originally created Fire and Fury (game) without a disambiguator, until the book about the president came out with the same name, causing the article to become noticed and subjected to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Fire and Fury which it somehow survived; if it had a review in Dragon it would have been among the list above, but I wonder if it had reviews in perhaps wargaming magazines? Debatable perhaps, but it may or may not need a name change at some point.[5] BOZ (talk) 19:32, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, was unable to find a mention in Dragon (or any other of my 1990-ish magazines). Have expanded the article and added an image, but alas... Guinness323 (talk) 00:25, 29 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There is now a Perfidious Albion (magazine), and the same user also started Draft:American Tabletop Awards. BOZ (talk) 12:30, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to that, I would like to report that I am officially done adding games reviews for User:BOZ/Ares Magazine (of which I have also done reviews for novels and films), so that is pretty great. :) I think my next target will be a big one - White Dwarf most likely. :) BOZ (talk) 18:22, 30 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I found a couple more Finnish RPGs that were deleted long ago, Myrskyn aika and Praedor, which both do have pages on the Finnish Wikipedia, so they may have sources to prove notability? BOZ (talk) 17:52, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hahaha, the Finnish Wikipedia certainly has articles on them but unfortunately neither cites any sources. I'll look to see if I can find any Finnish sources elsewhere.Guinness323 (talk) 17:24, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of bothering you, I spotted

Draft:Renegade Game Studios which is now on its third try at AFC. Since the would-be page is already redlinked from List of Game of the Year awards (board games), and mentioned on SXSW Gaming Awards, 2014 Origins Award winners and 2017 Origins Award winners, I figure there has to be some kind of sourcing out there! BOZ (talk) 12:48, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply
]

One more, by the way. I restored Cyberpunk (collectible card game) recently and did find one good source, so there may be more out there. BOZ (talk) 14:47, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Good work as always. :) I also found and restored Talisman Dungeon after discovering two reviews, in case you have anything more for that one. BOZ (talk) 18:15, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm excited! I'm sure you noticed, but I just started my run of White Dwarf magazine by finishing issues #1 and 2. I started Asgard Miniatures and War of the Star Slavers in case you have anything to spice them up, and added more reviews to games that badly needed GNG enhancement. ;) I may do more! BOZ (talk) 18:03, 20 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you sir! I did two more issues today and will do more next week; Citadel (board game) would benefit from more sources if you can find anything. BOZ (talk) 19:28, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I started one for the
Der Kriegspilers Fantastiques miniatures line today, which had a bit of an interesting history. BOZ (talk) 20:17, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply
]
Title is misspelled -- should be Kriegspielers (German for "wargamers")Guinness323 (talk) 04:12, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Oops! That looks like a cut and paste error, but I fixed it now. BOZ (talk) 17:40, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Got one good source there, by the way. :) BOZ (talk) 20:57, 26 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
More progress today, I added Archive Miniatures & Game Systems and Labyrinthine (board game), among others. BOZ (talk) 19:01, 27 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did a couple more issues today, including Legions of the Petal Throne. I am also starting some articles on RPG supplements, but I figure the board games, wargames, and miniatures need more attention. :) Got through 10 issues so far in just over a week, although to be fair in comparison to my run on Space Gamer, there are a lot fewer reviews, most things already have articles, and more of the articles already have the reviews added! I will pick back up next week. BOZ (talk) 00:11, 30 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Two more issues, two more tabletop games: Direct Conflict in Dimension Six and Rapier & Dagger. BOZ (talk) 18:33, 2 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have been rocking and rolling my way through White Dwarf in the last couple of days! Lots to cover, and almost all of it has had articles for a change - I started Knights of Camelot today though, if you have anything more for that one. BOZ (talk) 18:29, 4 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Now, if you're up for testing your skills, I had previously left off RPG supplements that I started articles for while going through White Dwarf, but if you are able to find anything to improve them I created The First Fantasy Campaign, The Book of Monsters/The Book of Demons/The Book of Sorcery, Dungeon Decor, The Manual of Aurania, and Balastor's Barracks so far. :) BOZ (talk) 03:29, 6 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I added one more to that list today: The Island of Dr. Destroyer. BOZ (talk) 18:45, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In particular, Dungeon Decor if you see anything for that one. BOZ (talk) 14:43, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I got through the first 36 issues of WD in less than 3 weeks! I'm going to take a break for a few days, maybe extending even into next week, because I am wrapping up a big project that I spent two years working on so that I can move on to an even bigger project - given that I have seen you working on retro video games lately, I have a feeling you may be interested. :) Stay tuned! BOZ (talk) 20:52, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm back at it today! I created new articles Crasimoff's World, Dicing with Dragons, and The Spirit Stones - in particular, I bet "Dicing" must have some more sources out there as it is an important early resource work. :) BOZ (talk) 19:40, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And today, I started Starstone. Since I have made quite a bit of progress, and at this point WD was also doing book reviews, I'm going to take it slower and easier going forward. :) BOZ (talk) 17:44, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Got three more issues out of the way, and started articles for Death to Setanta and Kingdom of the Sidhe for Man Myth & Magic, board game Star Explorer, and Questworld for RuneQuest if you have anything for any of those. :) And true to my word, as I mentioned previously, I am now working on Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Reference library/Computer Gaming World if you have any interest in those retro video games. :) BOZ (talk) 21:49, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did a couple more issues today, started a couple more game articles - Sanctuary (board game) and Pavis: Threshold to Danger. :) BOZ (talk) 20:43, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Two more issues today, started three more games articles on RuneQuest Companion, board game Dragonhunt, and The Asylum & Other Tales for CoC. BOZ (talk) 22:07, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think I am reaching a point with White Dwarf where there are fewer games and such that do not already have articles - case in point, this week I went through three issues and only started one: Cthulhu Companion. BOZ (talk) 20:29, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I did a couple more issues today, and started one game article for each: Dungeon Planner Set 1: Caverns of the Dead and Pursuit to Kadath. BOZ (talk) 21:56, 7 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think for now, just for the sake of my own sanity, I'm going to cut down to one issue on any day that I work on these. ;) I started one supplement for Star Feel Battles today, Star Fleet Battles: Commander's SSD Book. BOZ (talk) 20:50, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As promised to myself, I did just one issue today and got just one article started: Battlebikes. BOZ (talk) 21:51, 13 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did not find much extra material on Battlebikes. :( Guinness323 (talk) 15:48, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking though, you never know what will turn up later. Meanwhile, I did start one new game article today, a supplement for James Bond 007, the
Q Manual. BOZ (talk) 23:25, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply
]
And one more 007 supplement today, the James Bond 007 Gamesmaster Pack. BOZ (talk)
And just one more to finish out the week: Dungeon Planner Set 2: Nightmare in Blackmarsh. :) BOZ (talk) 21:22, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
One new one today, the adventure Crossed Swords (Timemaster). BOZ (talk) 18:53, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so I looked ahead several issues, and it looks like I would not be needing to start any new tabletop game articles for a few weeks. :) So meanwhile if you like, we can look at a few other projects I have been wanting to get to. First of all, let me know if you see anything for Rollout: The Game of the Risk-Takers and The Make My Day Card Game. BOZ (talk) 12:11, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Before that though, do you see anything useful for Julie Ann Dawson? BOZ (talk) 12:17, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately I am unable to find anything usable.Guinness323 (talk) 01:27, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking on those. More, probably next week. :) BOZ (talk) 04:12, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
With those two games, and some others, I have been dabbling a little in White Wolf magazine - rather than White Dwarf - although I have not been able to find copies of most issues online. I did find copies of a handful of issues, which allowed me to add all the reviews from one issue for example, so if you have anything more to add to Character Creator, Pizza Wars Imperium, and The End of a Legend that would be great. :) BOZ (talk) 05:42, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I did a few more from White Wolf earlier this week, and next week I will be back to White Dwarf, so let me know if you have anything more for PBMs Domination (play-by-mail game), Conquest (play-by-mail game), and The Final Campaign, and RPG supplements The Stormrider, and The Palladium RPG Book 4: Adventures in the Northern Wilderness. :) BOZ (talk) 12:52, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

As promised, I was getting back to starting new articles from White Dwarf reviews, so that leads me to just one so far today - Monster Coliseum.  :) Next week, there will definitely be a few more! BOZ (talk) 19:04, 13 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there. :) A few today:
Legacy of Eagles, and board game The Worlds of Boris Vallejo. BOZ (talk) 19:16, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply
]
Just one more new one this week - The Lost Shrine of Kasar-Khan - and it looks like next week might be pretty light. :) BOZ (talk) 18:14, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And yep, just one new article from White Dwarf this week, Vapors Don't Shoot Back. BOZ (talk) 18:38, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just one new one today: Queen Victoria & The Holy Grail. BOZ (talk) 20:07, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had planned to look on these on Friday, but then the craziness with all those Forgotten Realms articles happened and that kept me busy. I have seen quite a few old RPG articles that were deleted for notability reasons way back when, and I wanted to see what can be done for any of them. I figure we can explore that more the next time I take a break from looking at magazines, but for now I had been wanting to look at these two: a Norwegian RPG called Draug (which has a little bit of info, but no sources, on two different foreign language Norwegian Wikipedia articles), and also game company Cumberland Games & Diversions. BOZ (talk) 19:47, 1 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so this is the last bit of White Dwarf that I am doing for this week, and I started four new ones today: Vikings (RuneQuest), Nightmare in Norway, The Outcasts (Star Trek: The Role Playing Game), Termination: 1456. I am planning to do a little special project on Friday which will probably involve a few more new articles, but we will see how that goes. :) BOZ (talk) 20:18, 2 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I took a mini-break from White Dwarf today to address the contents of an issue of White Wolf that I had found online; I started several new articles from that one issue, including: Tome of the Ancient and Esoteric Mysteries of the Powers of Peleahn, Tobin's Spirit Guide (West End Games), DNA / DOA, Mercurial (Shadowrun), Street Samurai Catalog, and Sprawl Sites. At my current rate with White Dwarf, I imagine I have about two months to go before I am done with it. As much as I would like to power along right into the next magazine, there are a lot of little side projects piling up that I have started here and there in this section that I would like to put some time into before moving on, so I will detour for maybe a month or so on that. God willing on all that, if there are no other significant interruptions.  :) Before then, I have noticed that as far as White Dwarf goes, the number of new articles that I will be creating may increase for a while; I think that this is because Space Gamer (from which I created many, many new articles before moving on to White Dwarf) was starting to peter out around 1986/1987, so White Dwarf was covering games and supplements that Space Gamer did not get to – so be it! Somewhere not long after issue #90 the magazine converted solely into a house organ for their own games so they no longer reviewed anything from other publishers, so that would be the obvious good place to leave off from that. BOZ (talk) 18:22, 4 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Went back to WD earlier today, and started Golden Heroes Supervisors Kit, Terror of the Lichemaster, and Judgement Day. :) BOZ (talk) 22:30, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Several new ones from WD today, but good news is I am done for the week: Riddle of the Ring, Alone Against the Wendigo, Erech and the Paths of the Dead, Send in the Clones (Paranoia), The Iytean Menace, The Lords of Destiny. I won't bother you with anything else this week, unless something comes up with deletion. :) BOZ (talk) 19:08, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just a few more new articles of RPG supplements today, but these will probably be my only new tabletop gaming articles for this week: The Daleks (The Doctor Who Role Playing Game), The Master (The Doctor Who Role Playing Game), The Sea Elves. BOZ (talk) 19:55, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Only one more new RPG supplement today, Acute Paranoia. BOZ (talk) 19:13, 21 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Today, I started a few RPG articles and one board game: The Hartlewick Horror, The Legions of Death, The Mechanoids, Dark Emperor. BOZ (talk) 20:58, 23 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Got a new user who started a draft, do you see anything useable for Draft:Guildbook: Haunters? BOZ (talk) 20:03, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Took a temporary detour from White Dwarf today to do another issue of White Wolf, and today I started just a couple: Edge-On and Rockerboy. BOZ (talk) 17:31, 25 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Several new ones today to start the week: Clones in Space, Star Trek: The Enterprise 4 Encounter, Ghost Toasties, Lórien & The Halls of the Elven Smiths, Decision at Midnight (Star Trek: The Role Playing Game), A Doomsday Like Any Other. BOZ (talk) 22:18, 28 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just one more for this week, a Call of Cthulhu adventure: The Statue of the Sorcerer & The Vanishing Conjurer. I am going to take it easy on creating new articles for about a week, probably none for tabletop games. I have some time off and I think I earned a break.  ;) I will bother you more next Wednesday! :) BOZ (talk) 19:11, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have been out of town for a few days. Once I have found my desk again, I should be able to attempt to catch up. Guinness323 (talk) 15:45, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe it's weird, but today I woke up from a dream where I added a bunch of new RPG articles today, saying "No, I said I wasn't going to do that!" Possibly as sure a sign as any that I need a break for a few days. :D BOZ (talk) 15:49, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am hitting White Dwarf for just one day this week. :) New articles today were The Warlock of Firetop Mountain (board game), Spawn of Azathoth, Talisman The Adventure, Introduction to Star Fleet Battles - actually, two of those were old articles that were redirected years ago, which I only restored. :) BOZ (talk) 22:03, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I spent today on the next issue of White Wolf, so I started articles for Legendary Lives Player's Primer, Legendary Lives Referee's Rulebook, Age of Ruin (role-playing game), Paranormal Animals of North America, The Living Land. BOZ (talk) 18:20, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Busy day on White Dwarf today, several new ones!: King of Crime, Eternity Inc., Dark Blades, Traveller Alien Module 6: Solomani, Alien Realms, Traveller Alien Module 7: Hivers. BOZ (talk) 20:40, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Another busy day today with White Dwarf, but that is all for this week, and it looks like next week will be much lighter!: Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine Game, An Imbalance of Power, Traveller Book 8: Robots, The Lexicon (Atlantis), The Bestiary (Atlantis). As far as White Dwarf goes, I wanted to let you know my current plans there. I have exactly eight issues left in which non-GW games were actually reviewed, so at two issues per week I will finish in about a month. I have access to about an equal number of issues past that point, and although there were no more games reviews there was still the fiction review column, so I plan to continue that at the same rate, so I will finish that somewhere around the beginning of next year (during that time, I will help you coordinate to catch up with anything you wanted to help on what I had already done). I was thinking of maybe doing Different Worlds next, but I am honestly considering Games International both because it had a short run and because that era needs better coverage on tabletop games in general. :) I will likely continue moving slowly through White Wolf one issue per week or every other week for now. BOZ (talk) 18:19, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely the lightest week for White Dwarf that we have seen for a while, just one new one today: The Watchers of the Sacred Flame. BOZ (talk) 20:03, 19 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
And only two more today. :) Wyrd World 1: Wintersfarne, Trolls of the Misty Mountains. BOZ (talk) 22:22, 21 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Did another issue of White Wolf today, and I started articles on three supplements: CyberRogues, The Nile Empire, Sprawlgangs & Megacorps. BOZ (talk) 17:36, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
From today's White Dwarf issue, I've got three adventures from DC Heroes: Pawns of Time, An Element of Danger, Don't Ask!. BOZ (talk) 22:53, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In an unlikely source, I found two sort-of tabletop games which involve watching a VHS tape; Computer Gaming World reviewed these murder mystery games which were published by a software company: Ellery Queen's Operation: Murder, Agatha Christie: Behind the Screen. BOZ (talk) 18:03, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
All done with new articles for this week: Slaughter Margin, Wyrdworld 2: Wordesley, and Armada (board game). BOZ (talk) 19:19, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For today, just one Warhammer supplement and one Call of Cthulhu supplement: Ravening Hordes: The Official Warhammer Battle Army Lists and Terror Australis: Call of Cthulhu in the Land Down Under. BOZ (talk) 20:36, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
This time I started Who Watches the Watchmen? (DC Heroes), Dungeon Lairs, and The Feathered Priests - only two more issues of WD with game reviews to go, and I shall finish them next week! :o BOZ (talk) 20:42, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
To finish the week, I worked on another issue of White Wolf and started several new ones: Tales of the Dark Ages, The Order of Hermes, Kingdom of Champions, The Zodiac Conspiracy, Gorgoroth (Middle-earth Role Playing), The Destiny Map, The Possibility Chalice, The Restless Dead (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay). :) Next week will be lighter, and for a couple of months thereafter it will be much lighter! BOZ (talk) 19:59, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just two new ones from White Dwarf today: Robin Hood the Role Playing Campaign, Scared Stiffs and I will finish the last WD with game reviews later this week! :o BOZ (talk) 20:44, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

OK, after much hype I finished up the final WD issue with independent game reviews, and today I started Block Mania (board game), Mega-Mania, RuneQuest Monsters, Chase (board game). Probably just as well as they had been focusing more and more on their own products by that point anyway. As mentioned previously, I have 7 more issues of that to go with just novels reviews, at two per week (probably just one the week of Thanksgiving) that means I expect to finished with that on or about December 10. So that is a goodly break in the action and should allow plenty of time for catching up on other things here and there. I will continue for now doing White Wolf every other Friday, which means the next issue will be next Friday, but other than that no more new game articles until the middle of next month.  :) Thanks for all your help as always, as I have been going through this important and venerable publication! BOZ (talk) 20:42, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I had a bit of free time earlier this week, so I went ahead and took a look at another issue of White Wolf, and it yielded quite a few new ones: The Sorcerer's Slave, The Tempest (Ars Magica), Champions in 3-D, Day of the Destroyer, Invaders from Below, Fantasy Hero Companion, Grey Worlds, Ghost Warriors, Eldarad: The Lost City, The Universal Brotherhood, Nomads of the Nine Nations, Mythic Egypt, Norek: Intrigue in a City-State of Jaiman, Shields of Power, Sky Giants of the Brass Stair, Survivors' Guide to the United Kingdom, White Eagle (Twilight: 2000). I will hold off on White Wolf for a little while longer, since it looks like each issue had a bunch of reviews, most of which do not yet have articles, but I have some other ideas on what else I can look at in the meantime. BOZ (talk) 21:19, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I figured out where I want to go after I finish White Dwarf next week, and after some deliberation it seemed almost natural to move on to Imagine. :) There are a lot of similarities between the two magazines, probably intentionally if you think about it. There is a book review column so I will do that as I had been doing on WD, and of course there is a game review column, although I had already added most of those reviews to existing articles so I would mostly be starting new articles on the pieces remaining. Rather than dump out another big pile of stubs from another issue of White Wolf today, I decided to give myself a sneak preview and start on the first two issues of Imagine. I would like to try doing two issues per day, we will see, and if I keep up that pace it will take about two months to complete since it did not have a long run. I was tempted to go with something like Games International at first, but after checking it out I realized that one would also result in me creating many new stubs and I want to slow that down a bit for now, although it could easily be my next project after Imagine. Meanwhile, today I started the book What Is Dungeons & Dragons? from issue #1, and two GW game accessories Wilderness Hex Sheets and Dungeon Mapping Sheets from issue #2. :) As for future Fridays, for now I am thinking I will probably put some work into making progress on User:BOZ/Pyramid, which will likely eventually lead to more article creation, but probably not at first. :) BOZ (talk) 21:21, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's it, I am finally all done with White Dwarf.  :) Whew! Next week, on to Imagine! BOZ (talk) 18:49, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I have rethought my approach for what I will be doing at least the rest of the year, and probably the early part of next year as well. I was pushing for a more aggressive schedule of doing two issues of Imagine per day, but instead I will just stick with two per week instead, switching them to Tuesdays and Thursdays. I had been putting my off days into working video game magazines in the same manner, but I put that on indefinite hiatus as of last week, and will instead be putting that time into other projects related to that topic. But as for Imagine #3 today, I started articles on Starspawn of Volturnus and Cavern Flooring. I am missing issue #4 from my collection, but I realize you must have it since you added a review on Starstone; therefore, I went ahead and started a little stub on Sea Hawks (board game) since it was reviewed in that issue.  :) I will be on issue #5 on Thursday, therefore! BOZ (talk) 19:59, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I finished another issue today, and that's the week for me. :) I started
Quantum Jump (board game), Dixon Miniatures. BOZ (talk) 19:31, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply
]
I found a copy of issue #4 at archive.org, so I went back and did that one. :) I should have a copy of every issue of Imagine now! So my gift to you, is no new articles this week. ;) BOZ (talk) 16:55, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I did issue #6 today, and started three for miniatures companies, and one for RQ:
RuneQuest Character Sheets. The next two issues will not need any new articles for games, and I think I will save them for next week, so that will be all the new stuff for this year. :) BOZ (talk) 20:10, 29 December 2020 (UTC)[reply

A Better Year

That is both a title for a new section (since "Shifting focus" has gotten rather long) and my sincere hope – I don't think the world as a whole can take much more of this, and I definitely need an improvement over 2020.  ;)

First of all, a review of that previous thread, including some areas that I would like to get back into in future months when the time is better for that. I am listing unstruck articles from the previous thread that could still use any attention you could give them, whenever a time comes to look into them in the coming months.

There are a bunch of BLP articles in draft space that need improvements to get them back into article space, including: Draft:Charles Alexander Moffat and Draft:Chris S. Sims (game designer).

I had been creating articles for Origins Award winners, such as Six-Guns & Sorcery, and Wadjet (board game), and I will definitely want to turn my attention back that way again at some point.  :)

I also have a big list of deleted/redirected articles that need to be assessed to see if they can be resurrected, but that can of course wait. :)

And of course, we have the project where the majority of time was spent on that thread – the articles I started while working through White Dwarf and dabbling in White Wolf and other magazines, and on which you did amazing work to help build them up. Aside from where you have gotten on the pile resulting from me plowing through those perhaps too quickly, there are still a few articles which you may or may not have anything more for: The Make My Day Card Game, Character Creator (took a deep dive looking for anything about this program, the ONLY mention was one Reddit thread, the Redditer knew the creator, apparently the creator ran one ad in Dragon before being hit by a cease and desist from TSR. Other than that, nada.) The Final Campaign, and Cavern Flooring. And of course, I am still working on Imagine and have several other magazines that I want to try to get through this year, so I will continue to post about those in this new thread. :) BOZ (talk) 00:51, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Back at it today! :) I started Daredevil Adventures 1: Deadly Coins, Merc Supplement 1: In Country, and Endless Plans. BOZ (talk) 19:16, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Two more today, and next week should be a light week!: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures and The Cleansing War of Garik Blackhand. BOZ (talk) 18:25, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes indeed – this will be a busy week for me, so fortunately it will also be a very light week for Imagine. Just one new article today: Earth 2020. Oddly enough, the review does not mention a pandemic or any of the other crazy stuff that happened last year.  ;) BOZ (talk) 18:31, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, a light week - just one more today, No Honour in Sathporte. A week from today I will have a few more, but not until then! BOZ (talk) 18:51, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, as promised, back at it again today with several more new ones, including some with lengthy titles: PBM
Wellington's Victory: Battle of Waterloo Game – June 18th, 1815, Battle Over Britain, Blue & Gray: Four American Civil War Battles, A Gleam of Bayonets: The Battle of Antietam. BOZ (talk) 19:55, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
Busy day today, but the rest of the week and next week will all be very light. :) Today, I started
Star Frontiers Character Record Sheets. BOZ (talk) 19:47, 2 February 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
Just one more today!: Burned Bush Wells. BOZ (talk) 19:10, 4 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And just one more for this week: Sundown on Starmist. I think after this week I may take a break for a week or two, because I have some other projects I want to focus on, but like Arnold said - I'll be back! BOZ (talk) 19:09, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
BOZ, I don't want to discourage you from making new articles about board games (which is a hobby I like), but may I suggest trying to find two reviews? Per GNG, we need coverage in multiple sources. And looking at your new creations above, many rely on a single source... Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 00:51, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've fallen behind a bit -- took up teaching again for a semester after I promised myself I was retired -- but I sometimes am able to supplement these articles with a second or even a third review. Hopefully I can pick up the pace a bit in the coming weeks. Guinness323 (talk) 03:14, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey hey, you're catching up. :) I am on hiatus from working on Imagine for at least the rest of this week, and possibly next week as well, but after that I think I will be ready to get back into gear. :) BOZ (talk) 12:24, 17 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just a quick note - I'm still on hiatus longer than I expected, and not sure when that will end. It may be later this month, or it might just be in May. Either way, I will still be around in some capacity. :) BOZ (talk) 15:00, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Meanwhile, I finally got around to setting up User:BOZ/Game magazine index which I had been meaning to do for a while. :) One thing that should be useful there is that I have links to all the archive.org reviews so that will help keep me from losing track of them. ;) BOZ (talk) 19:54, 2 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Here is what has been going on with me! :) I had voluntarily taken a break from the magazines while you were teaching since I felt that I had generated too many new articles in too short a time, and I was piling it up way too much. ;) Then during that time the computer I was doing the bulk of my work on became mostly unavailable to me during the day, and remains that way for the foreseeable future. I am planning on getting a new computer to go with my new living arrangements starting next month, so I intend to resume some time in the first half of next month! On the one hand it has been good to take a break and you have been catching up magnificently, but on the other hand the semi "forced" nature of said break has left me with significant time periods of boredom. :\ As for when I do pick back up, at first I will likely briefly go at a pace similar to what I was previously doing, but since in June or thereabouts I will be returning to work in the office on a partial basis (one week I will be working from home, the next week in the office, and switching back and forth) so I have decided that I will usually only work on magazines while on my "home" weeks, so that should keep me from doing too much at once. :) If you catch up with everything in the meantime, then there are plenty of other things we can look into if you are so inclined! BOZ (talk) 16:42, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Bummer about the computer. As you have seen, I have been using the time to catch up. The college has asked me again to teach inthe fall but I've replied that I'm not interested if it's via Zoom. IN any case, I'll have the summer at least to beaver away. Have no worries if I catch up on your to-do list, I have lots of other projects. :)Guinness323 (talk) 18:23, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I can't blame you there. Whether it is meetings at work, or RPG sessions with friends, I for one find it very difficult to pay attention on Zoom for long. I don't even want to try to imagine leading a Zoom meeting. :) It serves its purpose as better than nothing, but it is less than ideal for me. BOZ (talk) 18:41, 20 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I had a little free time today, so I brought back The Excellent Prismatic Spray and Mjolnir LLC. :) BOZ (talk) 19:25, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question re Mjolnir LLC: There are actually seven active companies called Mjolnir LLC in the U.S. (see here), as well as the Florida software company (now inactive), a Washington company (also inactive), and the game company (now inactive). My suggestion might be to remove the software company from the article, acknowledge that it's a popular name, and focus on the game company that was? Guinness323 (talk) 00:42, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I agree! The FL company was added twice by a likely COI account anyway, so I figure that can be removed with prejudice. Plus, the game company has at least one independent reliable source. :) I did a partial revert to remove the COI additions. BOZ (talk) 02:25, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, all the reviews I found from The Games Machine can be found here, timestamp 17:57 to 19:31: [6], and the ones I found from Backstab can be found here timestamp 1:18 to 4:17: [7]. :) BOZ (talk) 18:58, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Owing to my completionism, when I went through those TGM reviews, I made note of the smaller percentage of products which did not have articles so that I could start them one day... well, I found occasion to do that and here they are: [8] :) BOZ (talk) 18:26, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As promised, I am back at Imagine today!  :) So far today, I just started The First Galaxy G1 and The Tin Soldier, but there will be several new ones on Thursday! BOZ (talk) 19:11, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I found out my work schedule yesterday, and while my initial thought would be that we would be doing one week in and one week out, what is actually going to happen is that (for now at least) we will be every week three days in and two days at home. So instead of my original plan, I will be doing one issue per week on the days that I am at home (and Computer Gaming World on the other day I am at home, when there are two days). Next week, for example, Monday is a holiday but on Tuesday I will do issue #21 of Imagine. :) The following week, I believe I would be doing issue #22 on Thursday. So, as promised, here are the several new ones that I started for issue #20!: Raid on Rajallapor, Disappearance on Aramat, Zodiac Castings, Campaign Pack A2: Sydney The Wilderness Campaign, The Starnaman Incident, Mission to Alcazzar, Casino Galactica, Seldon's Compendium of Starcraft 2. BOZ (talk) 19:25, 27 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
New ones for this week include: Deathstroke, The Fungi from Yuggoth, Westminster: The Election Game, The President*, Daemon Spawn of the Myathlon Cult. BOZ (talk) 19:29, 1 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Just for the heck of it, I started Renegades (Wraith: The Oblivion) today. BOZ (talk) 18:37, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I know I want to get back into Arcane eventually; maybe or maybe not next after Imagine. I know another user has been working a lot on WOD supplements, and I found a half dozen that have enough reviews to put them at above average for notability, so I started creating articles on them today during a significant lull, and will finish either tomorrow or over the next few days before going back to Imagine late next week:
Cult of Ecstasy Tradition Book, Book of Storyteller Secrets, and A World of Darkness so far. BOZ (talk) 20:39, 3 June 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
I restored Biohazard Games, in case you have anything more for that one. BOZ (talk) 14:20, 4 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I started the last three of those WOD supplement that I wanted to get to: Beyond the Barriers: The Book of Worlds, The Shadow Court, Charnel Houses of Europe: The Shoah. Next week, back to Imagine! BOZ (talk) 06:42, 5 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Back to Imagine today, with three new RPG adventures: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Adventure Pack, Raiders of the Lost Ark Adventure Pack, The Horn of Roland. BOZ (talk) 18:29, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Lots of new ones today: Thieves' Guild 8, Thieves' Guild 9: Escape From the Ashwood Mines, Additional Scenarios for the Game: Cry Havoc - Book 1, Places of Mystery I: Chilling Chambers, Places of Mystery II: Alluring Alcoves, Places of Mystery III: Sylvan Settings, Plague of Terror, Streets of Gems, Hype. That is a bunch of them, but the good news is that I went through the remaining 7 issues of Imagine, and it looks like the remaining issues all will only have 3 or fewer new tabletop games articles to be created. :) BOZ (talk) 18:56, 14 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Bonus day! I wound up staying home, so I did another issue of Imagine, and got Tower of the Dead and You Only Live Twice (adventure) started. :) BOZ (talk) 18:28, 18 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Two new ones for this week: Save the President and Limited Edition Castings. BOZ (talk) 18:49, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, two new ones for this week: Middle-earth Role Playing Combat Screen* and Omegakron, and the good news is that the next two issues (so for the next two weeks) do not feature reviews on any game articles that do not already exist.  :) I will update you as usual on anything that needs immediate attention - which, thankfully, there has been very little lately - but until then, see you in July.  ;) BOZ (talk) 18:35, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Will get to these (and all the others) soon-ish. I am in the Pacific Nortwest region, currently under the dome of superheated air. Without A/C, it is too hot to work in my office. But this shall pass in a few days. Guinness323 (talk) 19:24, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow! Yeah, I have friends in Portland who have told me how awful it is there right now. Take care. :o BOZ (talk) 20:00, 28 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I found Draft:Volo’s Guide to the Sword Coast in case you have anything more for that one. BOZ (talk) 19:24, 6 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hey hey! :) No new ones today, but I wanted to report that there are only two issues left of Imagine, and those will result in a total of only four more games articles. :) That will be my 4th magazine all the way completed, and several more to go. ;) After that, I do plan to tackle
Games International next as the late 80s definitely needs better coverage, but that will likely bring about the creation of a high number of new games articles. I may or may not jump right into that, but we will see! :) BOZ (talk) 18:45, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
I restored four role-playing game articles today, in case you have anything more to add to any of them: DC Adventures, Dragon Ball Z: The Anime Adventure Game, Dungeon Squad*, Elric!*. BOZ (talk) 20:16, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And today, I restored three articles about companies: Black Dog Game Factory, Blue Devil Games*. That's enough of that for now - there's a much bigger list to tackle one day in the future, but chipping away at it a little at a time never hurt. :) Back to Imagine #29 tomorrow! BOZ (talk) 18:26, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I figured I would take a chance on Wicked Dead. I found it as an unsourced stub that was redirected to the John Wick article, and it did have a little bit in Designers so I restored it and added what I found, but if that is not enough and it is redirected again then easy come easy go.  :) BOZ (talk) 19:09, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As promised, the penultimate issue of Imagine today resulted in three new articles!: Cobra: Game of the Normandy Breakout, Deneb Sector, Indiana Jones Judge's Survival Pack. Next week on Monday, I will be doing Imagine #30 which will be featuring only one new game article. :) BOZ (talk) 18:26, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As an aside, I know that as a self-published effort Deneb Sector may be difficult to find more information for, but the charity aspect of it is making me wish there was something out there to help it! Sadly, while it is on RPGnet: https://index.rpg.net/display-entry.phtml?mainid=12029 it has no entry on RPGgeek, and is not even in Heroic Worlds or Designers & Dragons. :( BOZ (talk) 11:43, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Was not able to find an image for it, (apparently it is very rare) but did find a reference in Traveller Digest.Guinness323 (talk) 05:57, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's an improvement, I'll take it - thanks! BOZ (talk) 12:58, 24 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
As promised, so delivered! The last game article for Imagine is The Golden Goddess. :) Next week Thursday, I may or may not be ready to start Games International, but if not then it will definitely be the following Monday (Aug 9).  :) BOZ (talk) 17:46, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My plan for this week is to start

Games International on Thursday. :) That will definitely keep me busy for a few months! BOZ (talk) 19:25, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply
]

I started one article today: Groo: The Game. BOZ (talk) 21:32, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK, on to the first issue of GI - as promised, these are indeed going to be thick with new article creations, and the inaugural issue was no exception:
Megatraveller Referee's Companion. BOZ (talk) 18:59, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply
]
Onto issue #2 today! I will be back at it next week Thursday, but new ones for today are Dragonlance (board game), Man the Lifeboat, Seaside Frolics, Scan (card game), What the Heck?, Black Monday (card game), Career Poker, Games to Play, Angola (wargame), The Great Patriotic War: Nazi Germany vs. the Soviet Union, Unnight, Strike Force: Shantipole. BOZ (talk) 19:31, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A slight detour today, with Fire & Brimstone (Deadlands) and Rigger 2. BOZ (talk) 22:40, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
