Tips when creating/expanding articles
Hi Hubdb39. I have a few tips for when you create or expand articles: (1) at the end of the prose content, a reference section should be added, which can be placed with the following code:
==References== {{Reflist}}
(2) At the end of each paragraph, and sometimes within one, a citation should be added (add immediately following the period, leaving no space); each quote must have a citation following it. (3) After citing the sources using <ref> </ref>, to avoid

- Well, not deleted... The reason for it being called "1926 Harding Bisons football team" is that the "coach" was a junior player, Clyde Matthews. They didn't have an actual hired coach, so he was the player-coach. Hubdb39 (talk) 02:15, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- Congrats on your team advancing to the championship game. However, the fact that there are other deficient articles is no excuse. If SIGCOV from reliable independent sources cannot be found and added, 1926 Harding Bisons football team is likely to be sent to AfD and deleted. Cbl62 (talk) 02:32, 10 December 2023 (UTC)

- Thanks. I've added some citations on top of the ones that were already there. It's newsworthy in that 1972 team was the very first conference championship for the entire history of the program, a program that actually won the national championship this past year. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, it's important to understand and adhere to guidelines about using information from sources to prevent copyright and plagiarism issues. Here are the key points:
- Limited quotation: You may only copy or translate a small portion of a source. Any direct quotations must be enclosed in double quotation marks (") and properly cited using an inline citation, set off using the blockquote template. More information is available on the non-free content page. To learn how to cite a source, see Help:Referencing for beginners.
- Paraphrasing: Beyond limited quotations, you are required to put all information in your own words. Following the source's wording too closely can lead to copyright issues and is not permitted; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when paraphrasing, you must still cite your sources as appropriate.
- Image use guidelines: In most scenarios, only freely licensed or public domain images may be used and these should be uploaded to our sister project, Wikimedia Commons. In some scenarios, non-freely copyrighted content can be used if they meet all ten of our non-free content criteria; Wikipedia:Plain and simple non-free content guide may help with determining a file's eligibility.
- Copyrighted material donation: If you hold the copyright to the content you want to copy, or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license the text for publication here. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Copying and translation within Wikipedia: Wikipedia articles can be copied or translated, however they must have proper attribution in accordance with Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. For translation, see Help:Translation § License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices. Persistent failure to comply may result in being blocked from editing.
I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 01:27, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- With all due respect, I have no idea what you mean about "copyright" issues. Let me know what to put in quotations, and I will. I've already cited Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper links. Also, Encyclopedia of Arkansas links, cited.
- This all has to do with a person - Magnolia677 - on a vengeful tirade. He or she already referred to their location as "here", being in Clinton, Arkansas. So there is some kind of local bias from that "editor" on this addition of a great Clinton, Arkansas High School 1950 graduate that this editor hates and is attacking.
- This is bizarre. I was even adding historical figure Opie Cates to the page when everything was all the sudden zapped. AND a historical citing of the Arkansas Peace Society during the Civil War. Deleted! ??? Wow Hubdb39 (talk) 01:42, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- So the Arkansas Peace Society who opposed slavery in Clinton, Arkansas before the Civil War is not allowed in the historical section, because the "editor" who hates women baseball players got you to delete everything out of spite?
- Really?? Hubdb39 (talk) 01:52, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- Glenna Sue Kidd from Clinton, Arkansas was actually IN the movie "A League of Their Own", in a cameo appearance, and invited (and attended) the celebrations surrounding the filming of the movie. This was documented, part of the citing's that you deleted. Hubdb39 (talk) 02:01, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Clinton, Arkansas, you may be blocked from editing. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:15, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- "disruptive editing"???
- Holy Moses, can someone please have this person Magnolia 677 stop his crusade? I've ADDED a great Clinton native who was a professional women's baseball player, and a person invited to the reunion of the movie A League of Their Own, as she had a cameo role in the movie. Also deleted by this Magnolia 677 was a historical reference to Clinton and Van Buren County natives (Clinton is the county seat) who were members of the anti-slavery Arkansas Peace Society before and during the Civil War.
- "disruptive editing"??? Hubdb39 (talk) 17:25, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- You are disrupting Wikipedia Magnolia 677. YOU are doing it and I've documented it the past few days, and I encourage the true editors and admins to read all of what's gone on. Hubdb39 (talk) 17:27, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Please do not add or change content, as you did at Clinton, Arkansas, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:04, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Zero additions to the Clinton, AR page have been without sources. Magnolia677 has said this countless times, and he/she is just making things up. It's almost comical at this point, but not funny.
- Wiki, this person Magnolia677 has used the term "here" in reference to his or her location being Clinton, Arkansas, so there seems to be some local bias going on. He/she has declared war on historical additions to the page including a Clinton woman who played professional baseball and did a small cameo appearance in the Tom Hanks movie A League of Their Own; history about anti-slavery Clinton residents with the Arkansas Peace Society; history about Opie Cates, a big band leader. He/she deleted references to former NTSB chairman Jim Burnett...others. Hubdb39 (talk) 13:33, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Wow, I've looked at your talk page history on here. While people like me have a history of simply adding historical content and being good Wiki editors, you have a wide history, as numerous people have said on your talk page, of coming in and vandalizing people's work. Hubdb39 (talk) 13:53, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Reading your talk page, I see you love to use the phrase "two editors agreed with me", as you did with me (except one of the "editors" is you, LOL, and the other editor ended up siding with the person you were arguing with, LOL)
- Also, when you vandalize people's work, and then they rightly protest, you come with the accusation that they are "edit warring." You need to seek mental help. Hubdb39 (talk) 14:14, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
Please stop attacking other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Daniel Case (talk) 20:45, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- I haven't attacked other editors. Content on the Clinton, Arkansas page has been attacked for the past week. Hubdb39 (talk) 23:40, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- Telling someone they need mental help, in the manner that you did, is a personal attack. And as for your "vandalism" allegations, see here Daniel Case (talk) 04:37, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
