Reverted Waltons link.

Hi Jg...just wanted to let you know I reverted the recent change you made to The Waltons. The attempt to link The Homecoming wasn't working, as it simply redirects right back to the main Waltons article. If in the future someone creates a Wiki for The Homecoming then we can reinstate the link brackets and it should work fine. Have a great Wiki kinda day! Small Soldiers soundtrack/Jerry Goldsmith

Regarding these pages, it appears that it's the same user that has been almost exclusively been deleting information regarding Small Soldiers. They've also deleted the human cast from the film's page time and time again. Talk page messages to the user do nothing as they have no problem other users' talk page messages and even an incident report on an Administrator noticeboard. I'm not sure what their deal is, but short of requesting indefinite semi-protection for these articles, it's best to just keep watching and reverting. Thanks for the help. --Jtalledo (talk) 21:37, 22 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

30 Rock season 7 recolour

Hey. I recoloured the

30 Rock (season 7) page to my closest approximation of the DVD box art, using the Wiki colour chart. I think it's pretty accurate, but I wondered: is there a more accurate way of matching up the colour, or is it just done like I have done it? One Among Many (talk) 23:51, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply
]

I think that's as close as it will look (see seasons
6), but it's a spectacular job! As soon as the DVD is released in May I'll begin touching up some of the middle season 7 articles that currently have some pretty underwhelming literature, too. Jg2904 (talk) 04:49, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply

Thanks. Yeah, some of those middle season 7 articles need work. I might go back and see if I can improve some of the season 5 and 6 articles that aren't very detailed, at some point, too. One Among Many (talk) 15:03, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Adams Chamber Symphony edits

Thank you for your cleanup at the article and your edit summary. I reverted your edit since I believe that the italicized titles are in accordance with the Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Music#Classical_music_titles; John Adams refers to his (and Stravinsky's) work with italics in his program notes published on the publisher's website. I believe this conforms to the examples where "instances where a work has what appears to be a generic title but is actually a true title" like Copland's Dance Symphony. Could you please clarify whether the titles should be italicized? Fern 24 (talk) 10:29, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Fern 24. I'll defer to your interpretation of the Manual of Style, though I am on the fence as to whether Adams' own italicization of the work (and of Schoenberg's) should be the basis as to whether it's a true title or not. It's such a specific English rule that I wonder if he (or the guys at Boosey, or their webmaster) has given much thought to it. But if the title is to be in italics, they need to be added to the article title as well. Jg2904 (talk) 11:00, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You're right. I added italics to the title but removed italics from the Schoenberg piece to conform to the formatting on

Precious

Darkstar and recent concertos
Thank you, Jerry, for gems of articles, beginning with Darkstar: The Interactive Movie, then films such as Thou Wast Mild and Lovely, for teaching by (always diligent) edit summary and historic connection, and for pointing at concert music of the 20th and 21st centuries which would stay unknown without you, even a viola concerto ;) - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

--Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:37, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Gerda Arendt! I'm not sure they're all gems, but I certainly appreciate the honor. And if I do have any civility or diligence on here, I owe it all to the continued courtesy and forbearance of users such as yourself. Thanks again! Jg2904 (talk) 09:01, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Too much honor for, - I believe that you "owe" the largest part of civility and diligence to yourself! - How do you like my latest composition article? - on 3 June 2012 we sang music in concert from the 20th and 21st century, did you know? - Any sourced article longer than 1.500 characters of prose (not counting tables and lists) and not older than a week is good for DYK, btw. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:08, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I made a nomination for the Percussion Concerto No. 2 (MacMillan), feel free to suggest a better "hook" and comment, or just watch. How do you feel about adding an infobox to the article, example pictured, or this? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:07, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for the good marks; I think you picked a good tidbit. In regards to your second point, I admittedly don't make much of an effort to dress the articles I create, so there is probably incentive for the addition of pictures on an article by article basis. I am a stickler for uniformity though, so if I add an infobox to one article I'd be inclined to add them to the rest, too. Do you think it's something that should be done? Jg2904 (talk) 18:15, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's something that should be done but am hated for it ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:05, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
You'll get no hate here! I generally defer to senior editors on style anyway, so consider it something I'll look into over the next few days. Jg2904 (talk) 19:19, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you ;) - Starting something new, you never have consistency at first. Editors who consistently add infoboxes to composition articles are
Sgvrfjs (Sibelius, see thoughts at Talk:The Oceanides), - many composition articles on GA and FA level have one, - it's a little extra service to readers, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:52, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply
]

A year ago, you were recipient no. 1228 of Precious, a prize of QAI! - I keep adding the little service to readers, one a day, at the moment Rossini's operas, such as Otello, - working on his last at the moment ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:01, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm admittedly quite ignorant of Italian opera (I started with Wagner, which I was later told is a big no-no for opera novices), but an article of that quality only makes me want to learn more. Thanks for your persistence in making Wikipedia a finer encyclopedia and a better community! Jg2904 (talk) 07:17, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I began one article on Wagner opera, didn't write Otello, only added the infobox, and want to still improve Rossini's "last mortal sin", going to sing it (again, in choir, one of three altos which is a challenge) in about a week ;) - Persistence (but still not enough) shown here (back to Wagner), and here (enough) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:31, 3 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Two years now, and I had a recent Wagner experience, when he stepped in as Siegmund, the master of stepping in ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:05, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Creating an article for Les Espaces du Sommeil

Dear Jerry,
I am currently working on the article about Robert Desnos, and just noticed that you kindly created an article (October 2016) about Lutoslawski's composition for Chantefleurs et Chantefables. I am wondering whether you would mind that I re-use the structure of your article to create a new one about Les Espaces du sommeil, as both pieces were recorded and reviewed together; this would also enable me to benefit from your sources. Of course, if you were to object, or if this effort is currently on your list-of-things-to-do-one-day, then I'd obviously refrain from proceeding with this idea. Thank you for your consideration, and for letting me know of your intent. With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 15:12, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pdebee, my name's not actually Jerry; the user name is merely a tribute to the composer Jerry Goldsmith. And of course! I could never have grown as an editor if I didn't liberally pilfer the style of other editors myself. Cheers! Jg2904 (talk) 20:01, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see! (Silly meee!... ). OK; thanks for your blessing and, of course, for leading the way with completing the first of these two related pieces. With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 21:51, 2 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Looks smashing, Pdebee! Keep up the good work. Jg2904 (talk) 19:43, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, all credit to you, since it was your example that encouraged me to create its twinned version for Lutoslawski's 1975 work. So, thank you once again for making that possible, and for your support.
With kind regards; Patrick. ツ Pdebee.(talk)(guestbook) 23:03, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article John Massari has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Sourced material in article is based entirely on a single interview. Other interviews with the artist exist, but they are all primary leaning and I could not locate any reliable secondary coverage. Aside from a list of credits which perhaps some would consider impressive, I don't see any potential signs of notability here. The page also has a brief history of CoI edits made by User:Johnmassari, though those appear to have been mostly cleaned out since.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be

deleted for any of several reasons
.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
