Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference . Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup , for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

I saw that you were trying to be helpful by changing the numbers for Matt Phillips and David Carney. However these have not being ratified by myself on the clubs official site here http://www.blackpoolfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10432~24161,00.html so therfore has to remain as it is because wikipedia relies on reliable sources, Blackpool FC is the only proper source for this sort of thing,I know that you will have got this from being at the newcastle blackpool match in which blackpool won 2-0. unfortunatly a football match is not a reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Seasider91 (talk • contribs ) 20:07, 11 September 2010 (UTC) [ reply ]
A tag has been placed on Adam Bradley (footballer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion , because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion , such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable , as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies . You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles – see the Article Wizard .
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon }}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Hi there - please read sources more carefully in future - they will quite clearly say that "will be released at the end of the season" or similar, which means they will leave the club on 1 July, not now. I have reverted your incorrect edits to two Carlisle players, but don't have time to correct the rest of your edits, if you would be so kind...thanks and regards, Giant Snowman 00:14, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[ reply ]
Sorry. Kingjamie (talk ) 00:55, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[ reply ]
Don't worry, it's not a major issue - and sorry if I seemed a bit rude. We've just got to be as accurate as we can! Cheers, Giant Snowman 01:00, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[ reply ]

Hi Kingjamie. Have you finished creating "F1 driver by team" categories? I think several of the categories may need to be renamed, but I thought it made sense to wait until you've finished creating categories so I can address them all in a single CfD. Regards. Thanks for uploading File:Benthatchermillwall.jpg . I noticed the description page specifies that this media item is being used under a claim of fair use , but its use in Wikipedia articles fails the first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media item could be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media item is not replaceable, please:
Go to di-replaceable fair use disputed
}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template .
On the file discussion page , write the reason why this media item is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license , or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link . Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy . If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page . Thank you. VernoWhitney (talk ) 20:41, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[ reply ]
I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the
WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the
Daily Disambig , we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers!

A summary of a Featured Article you nominated at
WP:FAC will appear on the Main Page soon. I had to squeeze the summary down to around 1200 characters; was there anything I left out you'd like to see put back in? - Dank (

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk ) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[ reply ]
