IPU
Can you rephrase that in a more encyclopaedic fashion? Guettarda 16:36, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
My post is more a sidebar to an encyclopedia as an example of IPU usage. The page seems a bit dry. Doesn't the wiki comedy page have examples of comedy? Because the IPU is essentially satire as a teaching tool It seems like an example is needed. As part of the satire to put it directly into the flow one ups the satire but I can see your point it is over the edge as a true encyclopedic piece. I put some comments into IPU talk. NPOV in MacCentral
IMO, being a part of the MacMinute Forum (and presumably a former MC forum user) gives you just about the same conflict of interest burden in MacCentral is it does me as an employee of the company who bought it and as one of the people who shut down the old forums. I appreciate your attempts to honor NPOV (and hope you appreciate my good-faith attempts as well), but in general I think the article could really use the hand of someone who is neither a Mac Publishing employee or a user of MacCentral or the MC/MM forums. Then again, willing editors can be hard to find. Maybe someone in WikiProject Macintosh? Best, -jason Jsnell (talk) 22:35, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- I would disagree a bit as to who has to tread more lightly in the NPOV schema. We both can edit but the employee necessarily is skating on thinner ice and has to post why they are making changes before they go for wholesale deletion.

THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU. I wrote the entire article and I've been looking for new pictures like crazy. Since you are releasing the image into the public domain the proper thing would be to move the image into Wikimedia's repository of free content media, Wikimedia Commons. Do you want me to move it or would you like to do it yourself? Also, most of the articles have the most recent picture of the subject in the infobox so I'll move yours into the article and restore the April 2008 one. I'll be soon nominating the article for FA, when I do it will be with your picture as its the best one. Cheers and again THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU.--Yamanbaiia(free hugs!) 11:42, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Looking for Wikipedia Ambassadors
Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Boston. The
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live near Boston and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.
If you're an experienced and active Wikipedian, you might be interested alternatively in becoming an Online Ambassador. The role of Online Ambassadors is to serve as mentors for students; it doesn't require any in-person outreach. Take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors in the coming term. If that's something you want to do, please apply!
You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE. The main things we're looking for in Online Ambassadors are friendliness, regular activity (since mentorship is a commitment that spans several months), and the ability to give detailed, substantive feedback on articles (both short new articles, and longer, more mature ones).

Recent Changes Camp 2011 – Boston, MA
Hi, can I interest you in Recent Changes Camp 2011 (Wentworth Institute of Technology, March 11-13)?
It is an Open Space Technology format unconference focused on wikis and collaborative practices.
Recent Changes Camp follows an unconference model of being free to participants and an Open Space model in having a program that is determined onsite by participants.
You can read more here, and do feel free to pass this on to friends and colleagues.
Hope to see you there on any or all of the days.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of

Hey MBCF, it's FourTildes (talk) 21:35, 6 May 2011 (UTC). I have never edited Macminute's article, but as a former fellow forum friend, I do keep it in my watchlist here. I am actually back on the forum in it's MT/AppleCentral reincarnation a little more these days b/c of all the scary news out of Japan, and feeling the need to share my side of things. Noticed your absence and saw some ridiculousities about banning - don't know the details of course, but don't much care. Anyway, your input there is sorely missed by me. Hope all is well, FourTildes (talk) 21:35, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- I am better than ever La Nova Mi and can be found in hundreds of places. Google "mbcf" if you really need to find me. In a sort of Mac forum type mode I get my fix at http://maccentralcafe.com/forums/ There you can find out that I have a new nose and a new rubber duck. Also Al the professorial ex-Patriot Cuban and a few other castaways.
- Yes indeed I was banned. As clear as I can figure out if you say that moving threads or that sub/sub/sub forums is stupid three times you are banned. The moderators cut me some slack and let me do it about 84 times but suddenly one more was enough. Oh, and do not call moderators busy little beavers. Not positive but that might not be considered polite. I was not banned for being a strident yellow dog Democrat atheist. The moderators believe that is to be subhuman but they never let their own personal dictates dictate how they moderate. Never been banned from anything in my life. I try to learn something new every day. I think I learned about four things the day I was drop kicked. (1: avoid stupid. Check.) It's all good.
- I wrote the MCF and Macminute pages eons ago. You can roll back the history and read my chronicle of MCF forum before MacWorld made me shave it down. They were right it wasn't very encyclopedic to know the exact date when JohninTx died but it's all there underneath.
The new me becomes four tildes. I get it.
MBCF (talk) 23:04, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
- Ha, I pasted in the link to the forum that banned me and not the forum I currently use which is here: http://maccentralcafe.com/forums/ I replaced the mistake with this link to just to keep the contamination level of my user page down. I do not want to have anything to do with them.
- Hey, just noticed your reply here. Will keep an eye out for you. (:
- Addendum: MacCentral Cafe Forums slowed down the same way most forums have. There are now about forty of the old time MacCentral members on Google+. You can find me [https://plus.google.com/u/0/107071332326571881653]

I guess I am not banned from editing.
I was blocked and banned from editing several months ago. Cryptic explanation that my router was doing something evil was not really helpful. I fruitlessly tried to get an answer out of Wikipedia with no response. Now there seems to be no trace of my banishment and no explanation. It said I was to be banned until April of 2024. Wikipedia really has to get their shit together and not do stuff like this. MBCF (talk) 18:52, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
