Alkenes are not necessarily insoluble in water
Before making such edits, you might talk to your teacher or a chemistry professional about the wide range of properties of alkenes. Even ethylene has an appreciable aqueous solubility, unsaturated alcohols and carboxylic acids especially so. Just ask around, lots of people here that can give advice about basic chem. --Smokefoot (talk) 14:41, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
Edits to Geometric Optics
- Refraction is governed by the change in index of refraction, not density. Like you, I am not satisfied with the sentence "Refraction occurs when light travels through an area of space that has a changing index of refraction." The dual mention of a "refraction" makes the definition circular.
- refraction occurs even when the change in material properties is gradual, as in refraction around a planetary atmosphere
- "is the phenomenon of light in which" was a bit wordy for my tastes (though others might disagree)--Guy vandegrift (talk) 13:44, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia and copyright
Hello Mahusha, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are PD or compatibly licensed) it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions, the help desk or the Teahouse before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Specifically, I am referring to this edit of yours. You copy-pasted text in that. This message is not for threatening or harming you. This is just for information, so that you do not commit the same mistake next time.
Happy New Year! Thank you. — Vaibhavafro 💬 23:47, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

- I'm sorry but I have had to initiate a reassessment of this article. It's unfortunate that it was promoted by a sockpuppet but, in any event, it does not in my opinion meet the criteria. Of course, it can be improved and I have given some examples for that in the reassessment but one thing I have not mentioned there is that it really isn't a good idea to use Sarkar and other historians from the 1940s etc. They were massively biased, trying to glorify the history of Maharashtra in the emotional period around independence etc. There are plenty of modern sources that discuss the peshwas generally and, I think, Bajo Rao I specifically. - Sitush (talk) 03:42, 28 July 2020 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:B.N. Rau image.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:B.N. Rau image.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to [email protected].
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Romila Thapar. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
