Information icon Hello, I'm InvadingInvader. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Ethel Irving, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. InvadingInvader (talk) 01:41, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Barbra Fuller, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. FMSky (talk) 12:59, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop

At Issaquena County, Mississippi, your only edit was to remove a redlink. I looked at some of your other edits and you appear to be roaming from article to article, adding "citation needed" tags. Please find a more useful way to edit. Perhaps you could find sources for the unsourced content instead? Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:20, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was just about to reach out about the same thing. Please be more mindful of how you add these tags to the articles—a general notice at the top of the page is fine, but I've seen you add a general page notice, a section notice and then multiple "citation needed" tags to the same article. Anarchism

Hi MurrayGreshler,

I saw your work on articles related to anarchism and wanted to say hello, as I work in the topic area too. If you haven't already, you might want to watch our noticeboard for Wikipedia's coverage of anarchism, which is a great place to ask questions, collaborate, discuss style/structure precedent, and stay informed about content related to anarchism. Take a look for yourself!

And if you're looking for other juicy places to edit, consider expanding a stub, adopting a cleanup category, or participating in one of our current formal discussions.

Feel free to say hi on my talk page and let me know if these links were helpful (or at least interesting). Hope to see you around. czar 03:49, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Where Law Ends Book Review

Dcw2003 (talk) Murray, Thanks for your grammatical edits on my book review Where Law Ends. It was cited for being too biased, and I have tried to add more references to the book itself, and fewer to outside sources. I deleted some of the opinions offered by external references that are critical of William Barr's decision to not recommend indicting Trump for obstruction, but I felt the outside sources strongly verified Weissmann's central tenant that the obstruction charge should have or could have been a source of an indictment. Weismann maintains that view even today, and continues to make that point on MSNBC as recently as this month. I've continued to maintain that other views exist as to the nature of obstruction, particularly those of former Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz who strongly notes that Presidential pardoning power is absolute and that intent cannot be used to levy a charge of obstruction.

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! page numbers

Hi, Where did you get the idea that "pg" is the correct abbreviation of a page number? It is highly unusual both on Wikipedia and in external sources. It is not what the most common citation templates, like

Template:cite, produce and it is not what appears in any of the examples at WP:Citing sources or Help:References and page numbers. Zerotalk 01:18, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply

Since you didn't reply I'm undoing those changes that I notice. Zerotalk

Sorry. Nothing to say. I guess I have idiosyncrasies like most people. Is it really important? MurrayGreshler (talk) 03:13, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not a big deal. Personally I'd like to require a consistent citation style across all articles, compulsory for all new articles. It would make wikipedia look less amateur. Zerotalk 06:27, 5 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Similar to the above comment, there really is no reason to change an article's established citation style, especially a

@Midnightdreary -- sorry, I misunderstood the nature of your complaint. MurrayGreshler (talk) 22:00, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Need for citations in lead

Hi MurrayGeshler. I noticed you've been tagging a few article leads with

WP:LEADCITE? Most content in the lead doesn't require a citation, and if there is an exception (contentious BLP info, direct quotes, etc.), it's probably better to tag the exceptions with a citation needed. I'm inclined to detag at least some of the articles you tagged, but I wanted to talk it over a bit first. Thanks, Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 17:29, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply

Thanks MurrayGreshler (talk) 17:30, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How many are we talking about? MurrayGreshler (talk) 17:56, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just to clarify, when I put the tag at the top of the article, it reflect a lack of sources in the WHOLE article. Otherwise, I tag by section. Just want to clarify because I know that text in the article lead itself doesn't require sourcing. MurrayGreshler (talk) 18:02, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit, you changed some date ranges from the style 'from A to B' to 'from A-B'. thanks for edits

Hi MurrayGreshler, thanks for the edits on a bunch of the Yiddish singer articles I created. For many of them you put edit summaries but others you didn't, just make sure to be a bit more consistent about that so people don't have to track changes to figure out what was changed. About some of the changes you made, it all seems OK to me at a glance and I won't reverse any of it, just on the matter of birth dates or other biographical details, the more I kept writing those kinds of articles the more I started leaving it imprecise because so many of the sources contradict one another. So to say a given person was definitely born on one day because it shows up in a government document from while they were alive, is unfortunately contradicted often by other documents they once again submitted in a different year, or in biographies written by people who knew them. Oh well! Dan Carkner (talk) 15:18, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. I am editing by phone so sometimes I hit publish too quickly before I have a chance to enter an edit summary. I agree regarding uncertain dates/years of birth and death but I often will add categories indicating unknown or uncertain years/dates of birth and death. Dictionary of National Biography

I a puzzled by this edit, in which you label a reference to the Dictionary of National Biography "circular" and "non-RS". It is neither circular nor unreliable. DuncanHill (talk) 00:28, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The format is -- wikisource url. MurrayGreshler (talk) 00:32, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That does not make it an unreliable source. DuncanHill (talk) 00:33, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Makes it a circular reflink, based on wikisource. Needs to be properly formatted. Also borderline
