The WikiProject Peru Award
Nice job expanding prawn soup. I just had this the other day and was delighted to see it on the main page almost immediately after eating it! DarjeelingTea (talk) 20:26, 17 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Hi DarjeelingTea: Well, maybe I'm psychic, whereby I envisioned you eating the soup in the future right before the time I expanded the article, which could then be why I expanded the article. Right? North America1000 20:30, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi there. Don't know what happened, but when I hit send query regarding this article, Foreign Coins In Coin Roll Hunting, it wasn't added to the log properly. I went to the AfD discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Foreign Coins In Coin Roll Hunting), and hopefully fixed that (which was correct either), but can't correct the log. Thanks. Declined proposed deletion of Sand Glass

Is there anything at

Sand Glass that you think is worth salvaging? The photos are terrible and there are no sources, so I'm not quite sure what a merge would look like. If there's something you think has merit, let me know and maybe we can draft a sentence or two for Sand. Cheers! —jameslucas ▄▄▄ ▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄

I still think those photos are terrible (as they are blurry and don't capture the sand while in motion through the fluid), but I'm fine with this approach for now. Having
Sand Glass gone is a big step in the right direction, so thank you! —jameslucas ▄▄▄ ▄ ▄▄▄ ▄▄▄ ▄

Hi, I just saw your new dyk nom. In Australia, the very well-known brand is Peck's Anchovette. This link has a little history - seems the brand is now owned by General Mills. Thanks for the article. JennyOz (talk) 09:21, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

  • Hi @JennyOz: I was away for a bit. Thanks for the information, which has been added to the article (diff). North America1000 07:24, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

A cup of coffee for you!

A few days ago I started Category:Food waste. In looking at the concept, I was not sure that it merited a category. After searching around I found a few articles which were related, and so I thought to make the category.

I am pleased today to see that you have added more items to the category and that it is quite filled out now. You found articles which obviously belong but which I could not find and did not think to seek out. What you did is very encouraging. Thanks for that. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:37, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

  • Hi @Bluerasberry: Thanks. My method was to add the term "food waste" in the upper-right search box that appears on most Wikipedia pages, after which time, an option appears on a scroll-down screen to choose articles containing the terms. This revealed relevant articles. North America1000 14:43, 8 May 2017 (UTC)

Re: Gong Show

Hi, thanks for the heads up! I had heard about the revival but didn't know exactly when it was going to be airing. Category:North Korean cuisine

Hi, Northamerica1000! I removed

tteok-bokki as tteok-bokki doesn't exist in North Korea and instant noodles in North Korea aren't called "ramyeon". I'd also appreciate if you could explain why the category was added to miyeok-guk‎, japchae‎, and many other dishes that exist in both Koreas. 🍲 --Brett (talk

Hi @
List of North Korean dishes for the sources that back up the category additions. No worries about the removal of Ramyeon, which I also recently removed from the article. North America1000
04:18, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt reply! The list cites this article, according to which
tteok-bokki does seem to be a dish sold for foreign tourist in North Korea. But this NK News article and this Guardian article say that tteok-bokki is unheard of to North Korean residents. I think it would be good to build criteria for the NK-cuisine / SK-cuisine categories and write it somewhere. I personally preferred using the categories with the dishes that exist or eaten exclusively/dominantly in NK/SK but not in the other Korea, but that's just my preference and you might not agree. --Brett (talk
) 04:33, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
  • (ec) @Brett Cox: Update: Upon consideration, I have removed the Ddeokbokki entry from the list article. While it exists in North Korea per a different source I found, it does not appear to be a common food there (per source searches). North America1000 04:35, 18 May 2017 (UTC)
  • @Brett Cox: Regarding categorization, I feel that common dishes and foods in North Korea should be included in the North Korean cuisine category, regardless of whether or not they are common in South Korea. Also, the North Korean cuisine category was rather barren until I began populating it. North America1000 04:38, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Perhaps you have access to sources that can improve these articles. North America1000 05:48, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Chinese hams
Sources? Hard to get here in China. Chinese sources are lousy. Western sources are tough to get due to Google being blocked. Photos, maybe. User talk:Northamerica1000/Archive 71#Category:North_Korean_cuisine

For me, it seems natural that most of the traditional (pre-Korean war) Korean dishes are common in both North and South Korea. And most dishes in

tteok-bokki (first made in the 50s in SK); Regional dishes, such as sungeo-guk (Pyongyang region in NK) and jaecheop-guk (Yeongnam and Honam regions in SK). Other dishes in the Korean cuisine category, in my opinion, is better without NK/SK cuisine categories because tagging all of them with both NK/SK cuisine categories will be a hassle. I'd like to hear your thoughts. --Brett (talk
) 03:53, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

  • @Brett Cox: I'm not really too worried about it, and if you don't want to add categories to articles, you don't have to. As I stated previously, regarding categorization, I feel that common dishes and foods in North Korea should be included in the North Korean cuisine category, regardless of whether or not they are common in South Korea. Ultimately, including such foods in the North Korean cuisine category makes the encyclopedia more accurate and comprehensive, whereas lumping everything together under the one category of Korean cuisine can be ambiguous. For example, some dishes specifically originated in North Korea, and were then brought to South Korea by families who moved there after the Korean War. North America1000 06:52, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

Open ended Prods

How would you have better worded it? Unless you think that article is notable I fail to see how how declining the prod was helpful. I have not see the film myself. Thank you for you time, Endercase (talk) 16:23, 20 May 2017 (UTC)

I don't even recall, it really didn't leave an impression on me (I was just hitting the random article button and fixing errors when I found them). I nom prod "per tags" and you declined saying "per tags" was too open ended... even though often prods have no reasoning given. Seemed more procedural removal than anything. I can find the article tomorrow if you would like. It had no real sources and wasn't notable (per tags). Mostly this is question about how you think prods should be done not really about that particular article. Endercase (talk) 07:43, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
I'd have to know which article you're referring to, otherwise I'd be making guesses. North America1000 00:20, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Well if you would wish to discuss particulars and not the generality of how you think prods should be done then the the article was Call Me (film) --Endercase (talk) 20:34, 22 May 2017 (UTC)
Per the Proposed deletion policy page at
WP:NEXIST, topic notability is not based upon the state of sourcing in articles. Also, the other maintenance templates atop the article are not aligned as qualifiers for deletion; an article relying upon a single source and needing more sources is not a valid rationale for deletion, yet your rationale was plural, "per tags." At any rate, feel free to nominate the article at AfD if you'd like. North America1000
