Hey PK3, YGM again. Vanamonde (Talk) 05:42, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

I’m sorry to bother you

Coming from here I’ve come across the term or phrase “Legacy admin” often, please what does a legacy admin mean? Celestina007 (talk) 03:25, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Hi Celestina007, no bother! It refers to an admin who got their tools in the earlier years of the project, when RfA standards were lower, and who has not been performing many administrative actions or even editing regularly any more. Apart from the problem of such admins not being up to date on policy, there have been a few examples of them having their accounts compromised. Pawnkingthree (talk) 10:17, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
Thank you so much for taking your time to explain. Celestina007 (talk) 15:02, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

Jeff Beck on Black and Blue

Jeff's jamming with the Stones is fully documented on audio recordings. He never played on any version of Slave, nor were any of his parts ever removed on any official release. In fact, nothing with Jeff Beck with the Stones has ever been released officially.

Heteren, I'm not quite sure why you are bringing this up again, as I have not re-inserted my edit or touched the Black and Blue article recently. Nevertheless to explain myself again, I used what I thought was a reliable source, the Rough Guide to the Rolling Stones by Sean Egan, which said, none of (Beck's) contributions appeared on the Black and Blue album: the band wiped his guitar work in retaliation for his sarcastic comments. A track he had worked on turned up, sans the Beckisms, as 'Slave" on Tattoo You. That story must have come from somewhere. If it's untrue, so be it, I used what I thought was a reliable source. (And I never said that anything with Back had been released officially. I know the sessions didn't work out, that was kind of the whole point of my edit.)-- Pawnkingthree (talk) 13:52, 2 December 2021 (UTC)

Your statement at ARC

Ultimately I don't think the

Beeblebrox/INVOLVED issue is super important at ARC, but I wanted to mention that I think you're reading INVOLVED incorrectly. The exception you mention is for deciding whether an admin can take action even if involved, not about whether the admin is later considered to be INVOLVED on the basis of the action. Best, KevinL (aka L235 · t · c
) 21:36, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

I did not intend to invoke the policy at all, but I suppose I could've made that more clear.

) 21:42, 20 February 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm probably expanding the policy beyond what is actually written, aren't I. What I think I was trying to say was that it's an uncontroversial action that it is akin to the "any reasonable admin would have done the same" section of INVOLVED, even though it's not strictly applicable here. My username

  • Note: First post copied from [1]

Hi there. I wanted to draw your attention to our username policy, specifically

WP:IMPERSONATE, which states Do not edit under a name that is likely to imply that you are (or are related to) a specific, identifiable person, unless it is your real name. I assume that you are not the 80-year-old drummer, but your username may give the impression that you are connected to him in some way. You may want to consider changing it to avoid confusion. Happy editing. :Pawnkingthree (talk

My user name references a non-existent musical group. Pete Best modifies Beatles, as in The Pete Best Beatles. And it's ironic. `` Pete Best Beatles (talk) 00:46, 10 April 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Hokuseihō Osamu

On 5 May 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Hokuseihō Osamu, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Hokuseihō Osamu was inspired to become a sumo wrestler by a chance meeting with Hakuhō, a yokozuna, at an airport? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Hokuseihō Osamu. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Hokuseihō Osamu), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

The article Samuel Sullivan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

I agree it is a good solution. You may want to look at others at Template:Heroes, I've prodded many others and one is at AfD. A redirect would solve most issues while preserving content for the future. Perhaps you'd like to redirect them as well, to avoid hard deletion (which some admins like to use when they clear the backlog)? Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 15:30, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

@Piotrus: I will take a look. I see my redirect was reverted in favour of a merge discussion, which seems a bit bureaucratic but there you go. I originally created as a redirect years ago before someone turned it into an article. Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:18, 2 July 2022 (UTC)

2023 in Sumo

Hello! Thank you as always for your guidance with the sumo articles, news, et cetera. I just wanted to let you know that for personal reasons I will be taking a month off of Wikipedia from around mid-January, and therefore will not be able to write any post-tournament news about the January basho. JRHorse (talk) 16:24, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

@JRHorse You are most welcome and thanks for the heads-up! I'll make sure I'm around at that time to do some updates. Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:25, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

How??

How did you view the oversighted edit summary and mention it in this comment??? 93.56.105.19 (talk) 23:37, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

I was just making a joke, that Bbb's full name would be Big Brother Brazil 23. I have no X-Ray glasses. Pawnkingthree (talk) 23:43, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
Funnily enough the (removed) edit summary actually did contain his real name. 149.100.161.180 (talk) 23:49, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
The edit summary was "Bbb23's real name is (Redacted)" 151.36.46.217 (talk) 23:51, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
  • For what it's worth, I thought it was funny. Just too open to interpretation. You were probably wise to remove it. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:38, 9 February 2023 (UTC)
@HJ Mitchell Yeah, should have added more context. Guess the sign of a good comedian is knowing how much to leave in and what to leave out when telling a joke. Failed that test :) Pawnkingthree (talk) 13:44, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

1940s sumo wrestling

Hello

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a list of sumo wrestlers who trained in the 1940s. I think he may have only trained or if he did actually wrestle, he was not renowned. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! 45.50.199.21 (talk) 18:01, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Hi, the closest list we have is List of past sumo wrestlers, but it's far from comprehensive. You might have better luck checking out Sumo Reference. Pawnkingthree (talk) 21:32, 5 March 2023 (UTC)
