Thanks for welcoming me. As I am quite active in German WP, I am not a total newbie but of course I am always thankful for advice concerning the specifics of en WP. Though I am a translator, my English is not always 100% perfect, that's why I will concentrate on minor edits and interwiki links. --Proofreader 17:02, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Gratittude

Thankyou very much Rainer Doehle for your help in proofreading this article - de:Wahre Jesus Kirche; It is very gratefully appreciated. (I should of thanked you a long time ago in July last year).

Also, I cannot speak Fijian so I am unable to write this article completely into the Fijian language.

Regards -- Jose77 09:35, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I remember, indeed I translated your artcle into German almost a year ago, it was a pleasure to help. I see that you try to have this topic in minor Wikipedias, which in principle is no bad idea, but maybe one should check whether this is not too special a topic for these - at least as long as these languages don't have articles about "Jesus", "Religion", "Christianity" (feel free to add these first). In case of Fijian I see no problem, though, as they already have several articles in the religious field. Unfortunately I don't speak that language good enough to write articles so I am afraid you would have to contact another user of fj WP for your purpose. --Proofreader 12:04, 22 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I agree with you. I didn't know it was 1931 fire. Even before your message, I have removed the image from the article: [1]. Thanks. ←Humus sapiens ну? 21:36, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You asked for the location of the Rheinwiesenlager. The article Rheinwiesenlager in German and English Wikipedia now shows a map with the locations of the Rheinwiesenlager. Thw1309 11:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the information. I am currently writing new articles about early saints in the German Wikipedia and the chronological lists is something of a guideline for me and of course, whenver I find inaccuracies comparing the lists with other sources, then I correct them. The categories will indeed be of good use for me as I have already found the corresponding categories in the German Wikipedia very helpful. --Proofreader (talk) 20:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FYI-- These chronological lists seem to have orgininated from a single editor entering infomation from a single published source (a book), with only occational updates from others to remove some obvious errors. The upshot of this is that if any other sourse (such as the English Wikipedia article) gives a death date or other infomation on a saint (and it is the same saint, not another by the same name) I would trust the other source over these chronological lists. --

talk) 04:55, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply

I agree. The latest example I found was Eudocia who had been given a death year 152, although the article stated 100 (as in this source: [2] while others sources say 107 or 114, but definitely under Trajan). I will go through the lists and check the entries of the first 3 or 4 centuries. It is useful as a rough guideline, but when it comes to details it is really not that reliable. --Proofreader (talk) 11:41, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia reform

Hello, I thought you might be interested in my proposal for democratic reform of wikimedia governance structures Ich bin übrigens auch Übersetzer Pnd (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 11:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for the link. My main activities are on the German Wikipedia where I have gained some reputation as a critic of intransparent structures and the role of admins (see e.g. this text [3]). I guess my "independent" attitude helped me a few years ago to become elected as a member of the de WP arbitration committee (Schiedsgericht) while at the same time I have constantly refused to become admin. I don't shy away from taking responsibilities but the way most admins behave didn't really convince me to become part of them. I must confess that I am actually not completely aware of the situation here on en WP but on de WP we at least introduced a while ago the possibility to deadmin, but the conditions under which such a deadmin procedure is possible are in my view still way to limited so that it's rather the exception than the norm that you can get rid of someone who clearly shows unacceptable behaviour. I am also somewhat disappointed about Jimbo's behaviour and that he obviously only gave up his founder flag rights after immense pressure from the community. He does of course have his merits and deserves recognition for starting this wonderful project but neither he nor any admin has the right to rest on his laurels and think that he is in a position where he can get away with actions that grossly violate comminity consensus. So, yes, you have my support for any reform that would make the Wikipedia more transparent and democratic. --Proofreader (talk) 15:49, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing it out. It was simply a careless error of mine, sorry, and very eagle-eyed of you to spot it.Rcb1 (talk) 07:09, 5 January 2018 (UTC)rcb1[reply]

Not so much eagle eye but rather systematic checking of the deaths in past years. If you do this clean up you can't help but stumble over these cases. Granville Stack's date of death is still not referenced in his article, though - going to have to point this out to the user who edited this information but I assume that the information itself is correct. --Proofreader (talk) 10:05, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Actually, I just wanted to create a stub for a start as there was a mix-up of two namesakes. I am afraid I am no expert in this sport so was a bit afraid I wouldn't get all the terminology etc. right which is why I added the note referring to the German article that could be used by someone with more expert knowledge than I have to expand the article. Sorry for leaving this unfinished job to others but then again this is what wikipedia is about. --Proofreader (talk) 16:18, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
