I looked up Robbie Glover. He doesn't seem to have produced anything for at least a year. That probably explains the absence of new sources since the last deletion. Is he still emailing everyone he can find to angle for an article? Guy (Help!) 18:49, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

He doesn't have to do new items, although it would be useful. There is no question that he has not had two number ones in Eastern Europe - well reported by the BBC (I think we can call that reliable, and certainly not self written). The problem is locating these old references, the amount of on-line data in that period is very low (the internet was a much smaller place in those days), so it takes time and effort to get hold of old material. There's little new stuff, so I doubt if he is putting anything about now. Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 21:17, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

My take on it is different. The article was created and heavily edited multiple times,. every single time by Glover himself. He has also sent many emails making it absolutely plain that he wants a Wikipedia article as a promotional tool. That tends to get my back up a bit. Guy (Help!) 22:42, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Well I've edited a lot of the Glover references out, and found some better ones - true a lot of the original references were blogs, self-written web pages, etc. Useful information, no doubt, but one then has to find a proper reference to back it up, that becomes the hard part, of course - finding Eastern European references in the relevant years is not that easy. I think if he was that desperate for an article he would have gone down the paid editing route by now, which he hasn't done (not that that would guarantee an article). Glover tried for years to spam Wikipedia, and you just gave him what he wants. I cannot pretend to be anything other than revolted by his abuse of Wikipedia ofr self=promotion, and your enabling him is disappointing to say the least. As you well know, I have spent some considerable time and effort in tracking down proper data and removing all the items that were potentially self-written or were just a copy of his published bio - just type "Robbie Glover" into google, you get page after page of items about this person, all those hits would never come from spamming the system. A musician has to pass at least one of the 12 criteria on

Yes, he is a most assiduous self-publicist. I hate spammers. Did I mention that I hate people who abuse Wikipedia for self-promotion? I hate spammers. Oh, and guess what? The timing is just right for his new album. Imagine that. I have absolutely no doubt that he has engaged in lobbying here, as I say I am disappointed that he has been given the only thing that he wants from Wikipedia, which is advertising space. I originally saw the page as autobiography, which had the potential to become a workable page, once the all the self-promotion stuff was removed, and re-phrased. Hello Ronhjones, it is nice to meet you! My issue in A Dream of Fair Women was not the poem (which is in the public domain), but rather some sentences of analysis about the poem that appear to have been copied. For example, in this version of the page, I think the text "The reference is, of course, to the well-known story of Margaret Roper, the daughter of Sir Thomas More, who is said to have taken his head when he was executed and preserved it till her death" was copied from http://www.online-literature.com/tennyson/4071/, and in this version, the text "Both are visions and both have as their heroines illustrious women who were unfortunate" also appears to have been copied.

Being relatively new to the copyright game on Wikipedia, I defer to your judgment; do you think this is substantial enough to meet the "blatant" criteria in

I see your reasoning. It's obvious they have copied and pasted from the article, having said that, 99% of the text if out of copyright. Probably that one line is a minor breach (but we don't know who said that, and was it said at the time or much later). Note

To be exact, even with CC-BY-SA-2.0, the owner still has copyright - just reduced. If one does not follow the CC-BY-SA rules then that is still a breach of copyright, so the logo may be OK - so long as the name agrees with the flickr account. "All rights Reserved" is the killer phrase to avoid. However it could be flickrwashing - (Commons:commons:License_laundering). Also check commons:User:FlickreviewR/bad-authors and see if the author code (shown in the image url) is in the list. Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 00:05, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

The bot is useful as it gives a nice timestamp on the current license - if the Flickr author changes it later, you have evidence that all was OK at the upload time, and the image can then remain. Ronhjones  ^(Talk) 23:03, 11 March 2016 (UTC)

Is that something I could add as a 'plain' editor without rights/tools, and would being the uploader to Wikimedia be a conflict? I've now added two more from same source, subsequent to the initial image.

I've been looking at examples where indeffed userpages and talk pages are not blanked, and one admin has stated to me that the templates should be added only by an admin or clerk, although s/he could not point to any guidelines as such. Adding {{flickrreview}} can be added any anyone - it implies noting, as it just calls up the bot to check the page. Inactive editors... {sigh}... Sadly, since every version of every page is kept, it makes no difference to reduce a user page. What is needed is something to to stop the dross being added to the pages in the first place. It might be nice if we could add something like {{NoNewTalk}} to inactive pages and then adjust the mailbots not to add their items to the pages. Writing about one's own subject/company/person has always been strongly discouraged. See Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest. Thus the community expects editors to be independent from their subject matter. We cannot find editors for you, you could suggest the article at Wikipedia:Requested articles, and state there is a deleted article available as an initial start. Articles on living people have to be well referenced from the start! The only way to restore was as a draft Draft:Curtis_C._Harris. You can now work on the article without the risk of deletion (unless you don't edit for 6 months). When finished you can click the link in the banner to get it reviewed and moved. Hi Ronhjones,

It appears that an IP editor is being quite hostile (incl. using profanities directed at me on an article Talk page - at Amherstburg). I have reason to believe that the IP user (User:2607:FEA8:A29F:FDEE:B54F:395A:F584:4B07), is User:Hazen89, who was recently banned indefinitely for similar offences.

The reason I am contacting you specifically, is because according to the block log, you dealt with this issue/user before. I also posted a similar/copy message on the talk page of the other admin (User:Ohnoitsjamie) that helped you block this user.

Furthermore, (not sure if this should be a separate issue), the above user and another one (User:Meganesia) are reverting edits to several climate pages, without providing any sources backing their claims. The articles of issue are: Amherstburg and Humid subtropical climate, as well as the talk page of user User:Meganesia. In the dispute, I have provided several sources from a variety of universities and government orgs. supporting the -3C isotherm for the Cfa climate, while the opposing parties provided none, instead resorting to insulting my country of residence and myself.

It would be awesome if you could help look into this, and if you could request that the articles in question be protected, (if you believe it is necessary of course), and ask the other editor to act civil and discuss facts vs. opinions (or at least provide sources).

Other foreign owned manufacturers building cars in the USA do not receive similar preferential treatment in Wikipedia. For instance, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. owns 4 manufacturing locations in the USA but Honda is not referred to as an "American" automobile manufacturer. There are two articles in Wikipedia about Chrysler; one about the manufacturer and one about the brand. There is an argument that can be made that Chrysler is an American brand that is owned by the Italians. That is like me putting the headquarters of a company in the Cayman Islands, for tax purposes. That doesn't mean ANYTHING is in the Cayman Islands except an empty office. I haven't figured out just what FCA has in Britain, but it definitely does NOT have 22 executives Wikipedia says it has there: "Many executives of the 22-member leadership team, including Marchionne, have worked between Auburn Hills and Italy for years." Specifically, the chairman of FCA is John Elkann who is ... Italian, and a direct descendant of Giovanni Agnelli, the founder of Fiat. Elkann is the chairman of 3 companies: Giovanni Agnelli Co., Exor and FCA. Giovanni Agnelli Co.holds 51.39% of Exor. Exor owns 29.19% of FCA and controls a 44.31% voting interest in FCA. All very Italian. In reality FCA is a company owned by Italians, controlled by Italians and to most people should be called an Italian company. A company owned by Italians, run by Italians is an Italian company, it doesn't matter what country a business is located in. Regardless of where the business registration (Netherlands) or corporate headquarters (London) are situated, or if it has a big subsidiary in the USA (Chrysler), FIAT is still an Italian company.

It seems FCA is doing a really good job Managing their Wikipedia presence, much to the chagrin of other USA based manufacturers. Because of Wikipedia pages which were left over from before Fiat's acquisition of Chrysler when both were independent companies FCA has no less than FIVE (5) pages describing their company covering basically the same information:

As you may note the page is only semi-protected. Feel free to edit appropriately. This was the "Brian Thompson" vandal. (s)he was repeatedly added that name as the CEO to this and dozens of other pages. It was quite a task to keep up with the person, who changed their IP on every edit. There were several editors constantly monitoring lots of pages, where there was repeat vandalism, we semi-protected the pages. If you want I can take the protection off, and see how it goes... Okay, I made some changes. I left in that FCA US is one of the Big 3 even though the definition of the Big 3 is evolving since FCA US is no longer a USA automobile company.

There is a problem which I don't know how to fix. Right now FCA US is forwarding to Chrysler instead of the other way around:

Gooday Ron - could you have a look at this File:Illustrated map of Peel, Isle of Man. Created May 2016 by Alice Quayle.jpg.

Concerns are creator's name appearing in the filename, creator's name appearing in the illustration, copyright logo appearing in the illustration, and WP being used for advertising (?) the creator's name as a media professional (LinkedIn).

I've been sitting on this editor for nearly a year, has two identities (can both be seen in this article history, U:AliceQuayle and U:Sunshineramsey, but both were mostly dormant, now a flurry of commentary-style prose changes to local (Isle of Man) articles from Sunshineramsey. Hi there! I have been involved in editing content regarding the Living Wage movement in the United Kingdom, and have come across a few redlinks for the Living Wage Foundation. I've looked into setting up a page for the organisation, but I've noticed that a previous article with that name was speedily deleted a few years ago. I'd like to ask if you're of the opinion that it would be an unsuitable subject for an article, or whether it was the quality of the previous article that was at fault and hence that it would be appropriate for me to create a new article on the subject. I'm not an admin, so I presume that I can't check up on the old article's text to see what it was like. The two reasons given are copyright infringement and lack of demonstrated significance. Given the frequency with which the organisation gets referred to in the news and academic press, I would have thought a case for significance could probably be made. What do you think? Hello, in January 2011 you permanently semi-protected this page, as there was a lot of vandalism due to an upcoming transfer.

However, I think now could be a good time to remove all protection. That particular transfer has passed, and Sammon is now a rather low-profile player. In my time editing football pages I have noticed that IPs are generally helpful for trivial and ephemeral details like updating statistics. If you compare the page history for Sammon and for his strike partner Robbie Muirhead, you can see the difference.

In short, as you know, pages are protected to save the time of established users, and to protect living people from harm to their reputation. There is no ongoing event that would cause vandalism here. I do not see that there would be much to lose to unprotect this page, and I see there is at least something to earn.

Just so you understand the situation. This is a new editor who has created dozens of articles that have had to be deleted or redirected. He has made improper articles and articles that already exist. His article List of WTA Tour players by career match wins‎ is one such article that is about to be deleted and I assume he really wanted to put this draft article in his sandbox for some reason. Draft articles are not indexed by Google - if you check the page source HTML of any Draft article then we have the line

<meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow"/> - which stops any crawler indexer from indexing the page

This was one of the main reasons for having a Draft space. If no-one can find it then it not a problem. All sorts of random stuff are in Draft. Technically you can edit any page you like, but it's not really done to edit someone's else's draft without their agreement - the whole point of the draft space was to allow editors as much time as they wanted to slowly compose a page gathering data as they found it from various sources - so long as they stuck to improving the page and not letting it become a stale draft, they are free to carry on. They could well revert back any unwanted edits - unless you deem it to be a copyright issue or sometimes a severe personal attack. The IP is coming up in a large range at whois for United States Statesville Hughes Network Systems - NetRange: 67.44.0.0 - 67.47.255.255; CIDR: 67.44.0.0/14 - a /14 is 262,144 address, I'm loathe to block that many addresses - quarter of a million people can't edit due to one a***hole. I would rather semi protect all the pages on your list (nice to have a list!) for a month and see if that terminates the behaviour. It was shining very nicely today - rather unusual for a UK bank holiday! As we said blocking that IP range would be too severe, so this is the best option. The world of Wikipedia article creation and editing is new to me. Apologies for the copyright violation for the uploaded image Michael B. Bracken.jpg. The image came from my own camera work (on a Nikon Coolpix L26) for Professor Bracken's book insert (Risk, Chance, and Causation: Investigating the Origins of Disease, 2013, Yale University Press).

Which copyright option should I choose for this image? Or should I upload a different image for review?

As I often tell people, always upload at Wikipedia (and it should really be at wikimedia commons, for free images) first. All editors on Wikipdia are effectively anonymous, so we have no way of knowing who owns an image - therefore when an image is on a remote web site, then we must assume (as is usually the case!) that the image has copied from the web site. Since that image is on X, with "© 2016 Yale School of Medicine" at the bottom of the page, we have to believe that Yale School of Medicine owns the copyright (and they may well do, uploading images to some web sites will give them the copyright). Suggest if you have not given anay the copyright upload properly at c:Commons:Upload - obviously use the full size from the camera, add to the image page {{OTRS pending}}, and go to c:com:consent to donate the copyright.

Book covers - they will need a copyright release from the book cover's copyright owner (possibly the designer, possibly the publisher). If the article was about a book then you could have a small fair-use image of the cover (but not in Draft), but not on an article for the author of the books. The reference part that you add... <ref>some data</ref> needs to be in the main body, next to the fact that the reference supports, they are no good at the end, we don't know which sentence is supported by which reference. The system will show the ref at the end and a superscript number in the body at the place the reference is located. The reviewer will leave a note on your talk page. Many military articles use primary sources, and this one does, but this article is not a direct copy of the site listed here:[4] though I see that large portions do appear to be from the article sources. In addition, there appears to be some credibility to a fair use claim, because the original sources are works of the federal government. It wasn't unreferenced, it comes from an episode of WWE NXT in January 2014, it is a nickname invented by Tyler Breeze to play on his preceding "The Man Gravity Forgot" moniker. I expected people to question the veracity of that claim which is why I included this link to a clip where you can listen to it yourself.

Specifically it is from the 83rd episode which aired January 15th 2014 and was taped November 21st 2013. Spoken before Neville defeated Breeze in the first (non-dark) match of the night.

People have a habit of deleting reliably sourced nicknames from pages of wrestlers they like if they don't like the nickname. The usual excuse is a lack of notability or something.

I believe that a redirect has a lower notability requirement than displaying a nickname though. We redirect plausible typos but do not list plausible typos on pages. So we should also be able to redirect a reliably sourced nickname like this one even if there is not consensus that it is important enough to mention on the page, because it is still useful to know who Tyler was talking about for those who only saw his end-monologue.

Scripted attacks against wrestling characters (Adrian Neville) are not actual personal attacks against a real person (Benjamin Satterley). The character Big Show for example has the nickname "Big Nasty Bastard" on his article, which is clearly more insulting than saying someone wasn't born good-looking. It's okay to do that though, because Big Show is merely a character, so calling the character a "Bastard" does not violate BLP concerns against Paul Wight, the athlete who portrays that character. Just touching base about your good contribution to Double-Entry Bookkeeping.

Ya done good, kid. Greensburger doesn't have the first clue, and the others on the page, while not exactly machine-gunning the joint with arrant stupidity, still manage to bring an ignorance and prissiness that they think of as probity to the whole thing.

The article as it stands right now is superb. Measured, thoughtful, balanced, and accurate.

The people who want to "improve" the accounting equation, the equality of debits and credits, into wedding cakes of their own icing are a menace. Their cheeping about the Traditional Method is the reason Dunning-Kruger made it to my header. People of their type are the reason the Big Eight accounting firms are now the Big Three -- and why the Big Three are still a major menace to the commercial sector of civilisation.

He came off of a one week block for disruption just a few days ago and went right back to doing what he was before. I'm assuming you weren't aware of that, given his blanking of his talk page. It was moved to Draft:Nathan Matthewson Shippee. Moving a page leaves behind a redirect at the old page to the new page. Hello. Bhiwani district, which you protected after I filed a report at AIV, is only one of several articles the IP-hopper has been repeatedly hitting. If there's going to be any point in protecting instead of blocking, then Haryana, History of Haryana and Bhiwani also need protection. There's a disruptive IP (103.47.135.72) running around the motorsport articles, and I reported them to AIV. However, I don't think that I did it properly - I can't really remember how to in the case of IPs - and no further action was taken. Here is an example of their handiwork; they're adding content from a video game to articles about real-life championships. They first popped up at 2017 World Rally Championship, and I got temporary protection put in place, but as soon as it was protected, they went elsewhere.

I would like to ask you why a page on Nadeem Sarwar was deleted as I would like to see him on Wikipedia. He is a renowned name in Urdu reciting & has a huge fan following in Pakistan & India. His YouTube has so far fetched around 50m views in the past 6 years.

Actually been deleted 5 times in all. The last time was 3 years ago, and was for extensive copyright violations. Basically most of the article's content had been copied word for word from other web sites, namely

That was the second time that the article was deleted for copyright problems. There is nothing to stop a new article being created - but it will have to be started at

orschiro I can restore it for you, but it has no chance whatsoever of passing an AfD, wince the only reference you have is from Github. bite the newbies. Google does not index Draft pages - that's the whole point in having them, it lets editors slowly gather their data piece by piece, without it having to be a passed article from the first save.
