End Over End, I'm Reporting

The most prevalent topics of the week are about ends: the conclusion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Infinity Saga (#1, #4, #15), the last season of Game of Thrones (#3, #7, #17, #25), and people leaving the mortal realm (#2 - who brought in her son, #20 - along with #11, #12 and #21). There's also arguments against the end of legalized abortion (#19), people (#5) and tragedies (#6) that ended lives, a YouTuber seeing his reputation threatened to end (#9), a basketballer whose brother would end his postseason (#21), and musicians from all over Europe ending up in the continental contest (#8). Otherwise, the Report is a revolving door, I've seen it all before: a Google Doodle (#15), a teen singer who hasn't left in a while (#24), and some new movies, namely Keanu Reeves (#9) slaughtering everyone (#13), investigative Pokémon (#18), and a Bollywood teen film (#23).

2	Doris Day		2,052,866		Doris Day was a successful singer when she also scored big in the movies - most notably romantic comedies with one of whom gave her an Oscar nod; though the Hitchcock classic The Man Who Knew Too Much deserves mention for contributing one of her best known songs, "Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)". After sitcom The Doris Day Show ended in 1973, she retired from the public eye, focusing more on animal welfare activism with the Doris Day Animal Foundation and the Doris Day Animal League . Day died of a pneumonia at the age of 97.
3	Game of Thrones (season 8)		1,975,784		(spoilers ahead!) "Take a look to the sky, just before you die It's the last time you will!" After all, the penultimate episode had death coming from above once someone decided "I won't take no prisoners, won't spare no lives!" For Whom The Bells Toll? They tolled for everyone. Such circumstances displeased many critics and viewers, making expectations dip a lot for the series finale.
4	List of highest-grossing films		1,930,929		Our #1 is second on this, less than $200 million behind Avatar 2 (now sharing a parent company with The Avengers) makes even a fraction of that it comes out in 2021? A theme park might not be enough to compensate over a decade away!
5	Ted Bundy		1,706,092		The serial killer featured in two Netflix releases, a documentary and a movie, continues to bring readers to learn about his grotesque life exploits.
6	Chernobyl disaster		1,695,638		HBO is currently airing Chernobyl , a miniseries based on the worst nuclear meltdown ever.
7	Game of Thrones		1,222,041		Following the footsteps of Lost, a show that breaks formulas, gathers a massive following, and then by the final season has lots of people complaining.
8	Eurovision Song Contest 2019		951,999		Europe's yearly musical extravaganza, held in defending champion Israel and won by the Dutch submission "Arcade", whose performer Duncan Laurence is seen to the left.
9	James Charles (Internet personality)[1]		929,723		Well, here's some YouTube drama: Charles, who has a successful make-up channel, was accused by collaborator Tati Westbrook of being a manipulative jerk, lost millions of subscribers, and had his attempt at an apology video earning a spot in the ten most disliked videos ever (once music videos are excluded, it's fourth behind angry Call of Duty fans, PewDiePie asking his viewers to downvote profusely, and last year's underwhelming YT Rewind).
10	Keanu Reeves		905,571		Once he feared his grave would just read "He was Ted". Well, now Ted is only one of the three best-known characters Keanu has played, alongside Neo and John Wick, who just returned to theaters (#12) and beat our #1 to top the box office, making this hilarious Tweet true.
11	Peggy Lipton		878,202		Another actress who just died. She broke to fame in The Mod Squad back in the 60s, but most viewers probably remember her from Twin Peaks. Lipton is also the ex-wife of Quincy Jones and the mother of Rashida Jones.
12	Tim Conway		859,449		More dead actors. Conway starred in McHale's Navy and The Carol Burnett Show (whose opening act for a while was #2's sitcom), along with being Dorf in some sports comedy films, and Barnacle Boy in SpongeBob SquarePants.
13	John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum		837,415		For the third time Keanu Reeves (#9) is slaughtering everyone in a revenge movie that could easily star Charles Bronson. And it's so fun that reviewers loved it and audiences put it atop the box office, making one hopeful that the sequel hook at the end of Parabellum will lead to a fourth installment.
14	Deaths in 2019		783,548		Given who I'm borrowing from to title this report, better quote them again: "One of These Days Your heart will stop, and play its final beat"
15	List of Marvel Cinematic Universe films		751,059		In the first of those, Tony Stark got wounded and captured in Afghanistan and became Iron Man. Eleven years later, the 22 movies have actually made more money ($21.3 billion) than the whole Afghan GDP ($20.3)!
16	Omar Khayyam		661,145		Google homaged this Iranian mathematician on his birthday.
17	List of Game of Thrones episodes		660,842		Next week, every viewer can say "And Now My Watch Is Ended".
18	Pokémon Detective Pikachu		654,270		Pokémon makes its live action debut with an adaptation of a spinoff game, where Justice Smith portrays the son of a murdered policeman who is forced to unveil the plot that led to his father's death with the help of his old partner... the investigative electric rat from the title, voiced by Ryan Reynolds. Detective Pikachu became the first video game movie to get over 60% critical approval on Rotten Tomatoes (although among the most respected critics, the score is much lower - after all, it's just an alright movie, that works better for fans of the franchise or children) and even if it couldn't take our #1 from atop the box office, already made a respectable $300 million worldwide. Maybe it can also become the highest-grossing game movie ever, beating Warcraft.
19	Roe v. Wade		639,682		Georgia is trying to overturn the decision that legalized abortion, to the chagrin of everyone who thinks the conservatives care more about unborn children than those actually living in difficulty.
20	Terry Melcher		627,550		The only child of our #2 also ventured in the music business - in the picture to the left, he's seen with a group he produced, The Byrds. Melcher died in 2004, leaving behind a son, that somehow was kept from seeing his grandmother for the last 12 years.
21	Ashley Massaro		606,621		One final death for the week, a wrestler and reality show contestant who apparently hung herself days prior to turning 40 (professional wrestlers have this sad tendency of dying young).
22	Seth Curry		595,798		It was a sibling confrontation in the NBA's Western Conference Finals, as Stephen Curry's Golden State Warriors were up against the Portland Trail Blazers of his younger brother Seth. And sadly Portland didn't win any games, even those they took the lead at some point, meaning the Warriors are in their fifth straight final. At least the adversary will be different.
23	Student of the Year 2		536,913		Bollywood strikes again, with Tara Sutaria (pictured) and Tiger Shroff being the stars of this teen college film which is currently bringing in the crore.
24	Billie Eilish		515,802		More and more readers learn about this teenage singer making some unusual pop songs, who even samples The Office in her album.
25	A Song of Ice and Fire		503,947		We finish it off with the books that are being adapted into our #7, even if the show surpassed the source material once season 5 ended. Those unhappy with the ways the television conclusion (#3) are going hopeful author George R. R. Martin (pictured) completes the sixth book soon enough to start the seventh. And no, contrary to what one actor said, Martin isn't holding their release back in a deal with HBO, he's just a slow writer.
