Ziarat (

province of Pakistan. Ziarat
town (situated at an altitude of about 2,400 meters) is the headquarters of the district, the sub-division, and also of the tehsil. The highest peak of Khalifat Hills, at an altitude of 11,400 feet (3,500 m), is located in Ziarat district.

Administration

Ziarat District was established in July 1986, previously being part of

Union Councils.[3]

Demography

At the time of the 2017 census the district had 28,624 households and a population of 160,095. Ziarat had a sex ratio of 948 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 45.36% - 58.84% for males and 31.43% for females. 3,392 (2.12%) lives in urban areas. 54,967 (34.33%) were under 10 years of age. 417 (0.26%) people in the district were from religious minorities. Pashto is the predominant language, spoken by 97.61% of the population.[2]

Tourism

Ziarat has some of the oldest Juniper forests in the world.[4] A tourist destination, the economy of the district also benefits from orchards of apples and cherries. The Ziarat district has the highest Human Development Index of all districts in the province. The first Governor-General of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, spent last days of his life in Ziarat Residency in Ziarat.
