Requested move 13 April 2024

2024 Mozambique boat disaster → ? – Mozambique is quite a big place. Surely we can get more specific. I am not familiar with the region, however, and will let more informed editors decide on a new name. Bremps... 03:40, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How about Sinking of the Zico? 3df (talk) 11:18, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support That wouldn't be a bad name. It would be consistent with the
Sinking of the MV Sewol. Bremps... 17:06, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply

On second thought the "the" must be discussed. Bremps... 00:05, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support However I think we should alter this slightly to Sinking of the ''Zico'' (Mozambique) as the Zico is not a famous ship and another boat might carry that name. Enoryt nwased lamaj (talk) 21:51, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If/when another Zico sinks we should change the name. As it stands, there is no need per

Support per above. Aaron Liu (talk) 00:49, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Support the current title is too broad. This title would be appropriate for an unnamed ship, but with a named vessel in this case we should use it. An example of when the more broad "boat disaster" should be used is last year's Kwara boat disaster. Yeoutie (talk) 18:57, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Counter-examples exist, e.g. the 2023 Messenia migrant boat disaster where date and location are used, despite knowledge of the boat's name... Yadsalohcin (talk) 17:21, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Current title is fine and recognizable for people who want to search for this event, both in the present and future. The boat's name is not recognizable, at least for now. If there are other Mozambique boat disasters in 2024, a discussion can be restarted. Neocorelight (Talk) 02:17, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Mozambique is a big country and I don't see how it's more recognizable than the boat's name. Aaron Liu (talk) 12:40, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Of course a country is more recognizable than a boat. People can read the article itself if they want to know the specifics. Neocorelight (Talk) 22:39, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
At least to me the country name is not more recognizable at all, and the proposed title is much more concise. Aaron Liu (talk) 01:04, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. Current title is fine- at least Mozambique narrows down the location of the 'boat disaster' a bit; unless you're already familiar with the topic, the boat's name is meaningless.Yadsalohcin (talk) 07:24, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - Current name is clear and unambiguous (unless or until there is another boat disaster in Mozambique this year). It headlines the most likely search term for readers. Davidships (talk) 02:32, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
