The picture appears to be of Bowie's current wife, Iman, not of Angela. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.83.86.126 (talk) 17:35, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

confirmed encounters?

"In the book, she tells of her notorious first-hand encounter seeing David and Mick Jagger naked in bed together, confirming the long-rumored bi encounters the two of them had back in their 30s."

Oh right, so that confirms it then. Hmmmmm, I think Angela Bowie might have an interest in promoting her book with salacious rumours, and therefore we should take her claims with a pinch of salt. I believe in general she's not regarded as a reliable witness.

I thought Angela Bowie admitted years ago that she made that up under pressure during the appearance on Joan Rivers's daytime talk show in the early nineties?...

No, she never said it was made-up. But she has insisted, time and again, that what she found were two boys naked in bed (asleep) together. She never suggested they had had sex, although she says that at the time she assumed they had had sex - knowing who they where - but she never indicated she knew they have had sex. That was all media blowing things up... (For the record, she says a lot of other sexual things about Bowie that the media did not pick up on - they focused on this non-scandal instead). Marriage to Lipka?

I know from interviews etc. that Angie was in a relationship with Andrew Lipka for a few years, but I've seen nothing stating they were married. Source anyone?

Cypriot?

Is Angela Bowie actually Cypriot? The article says that her mother is Greek Cypriot and her father American, yet on an internet site on which she has written about Cyprus, the island of her birth, she states that her parents are American and she merely feels Cypriot because of the place she was born and briefly grew up in. Which sauce is correct?

Angela's mother is Polish

In her book "Backstage Passes" Angela states that her mother is of Polish descent. She was born in Cyprus by dint of her father having been employed there at the time of her birth. Therefore, the Greek category needs to be removed as she is not of Greek ancestry. One could replace it with Polish-American.jeanne (talk) 14:53, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

relationship with lipka

The text states

"Angie and David Bowie... divorced on 8 February 1980... She then began a long-term relationship with punk musician Drew Blood (real name Andrew Lipka) and, on 24 July 1980 gave birth to their daughter"

Well if she gave birth on 24 July she must, biologically, have begun the relationship before 8 February 1980. The text is a bit deceptive. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Abdul tom (talkcontribs) 09:07, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it needs to be changed to show that they began a relationship well before 8 February 1980 as the conception of their daughter had to have occurred roughly about 24 October 1979. It's good you pointed that discrepancy out, as I had not noticed it myself when I made previous edits to the article. Thank you.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 09:54, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Musician

"Angela also performed on The Mike Douglas Show in early 1975."

Mick Karn

In Mick Karn's autobiography he details his relationship with Angela Bowie. I think this was 1979, while they lived together in London —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.246.60.185 (talk) 19:27, 19 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

User

notability concerns on December 17 with this edit
and summary, "Notability is not inherited. The major issue with this article is that she has relationships with notable people, but does not seem to have enough secondary source references to be considered notable in her own right."

While everyone is entitled to their opinion, I'd have to say that in Angela Bowie's case she is more than "just related" to someone famous. In addition to being David Bowie's former wife and the mother of one of his children, Duncan Jones (with an article notable in his own right), but she has gone on to achieve fame through a variety of means. Is any one of these things particularly noteworthy? Well, that is probably debatable. But if everything she has done is taken together in context, in my opinion Notability is fairly obvious.

Familial relations, notwithstanding, Bowie has been an actress for several decades; her resume on IMDb.com clearly shows this. (Please, no one start with IMDB not being

WP:RS, it's been accepted 10s of 1000s of times in this regard) She's also a published writer, a music composer, and a journalist. Lastly, I'll add in the fact that she's been portrayed (albeit fictionally) by another actor in the movie Velvet Goldmine
.

Does anyone have a policy based and/or substantial justification for not removing the Notability tag? --

Do whatever you want, just that articles like this really bother me and the larger problem with the suspect references will remain: the majority of the references to this article are cites to her own books, links to her own website, IMDb, and broken/dubious web links. All that's really left after these types of cites are those where she's mentioned as "the ex-wife of X" or "mother of Y" -- this is footnote material in the articles for X and Y. There does not appear to be many secondary sources for this subject outside of her role in relation to someone else. The problem is a lack of secondary and neutral sources, the cause really appears to be a lack of sufficient notability in her own right -- hence, my "notability not inherited" comment. Fair enough, but those are seemingly fixable issues. I was a little surprised by at what came up in a search given the tag. I'll see what I can do, thx. --

I would think that her notability is a moot point now because she is appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, which regardless of what anyone thinks of the show or the papers that cover it, indicates notability to me. Also, there are several rock biographies or autobiographies that are not of her husband David, that mention her in a context not involving David. Bebe Buell's autobiography is one I can think of off the top of my head. A quick ProQuest search found, among other things, a Washington Post feature about a poetry and art show tour she did in 1984; an article by gay advocates criticizing her public outing of her husband (she is not involved in the article); interviews with her in a number of respectable papers over the years; and article about how a clothing designer was influenced by her style (again it does not appear she has anything to do with the dress designer). While Angela obviously rose to fame due to her marriage, she has established enough notability in her own right through these ventures that she shouldn't be tagged for lacking notability. I am also going to remove the notability tag, particularly due to the Celebrity Big Brother appearance and the ongoing coverage, as well as the fact that this discussion looks to have been dead for some time. If I get a chance to update the article at some point, I will, but unfortunately don't have time now. TheBlinkster (talk) 16:46, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Inspiration to Rolling Stones: cittaion needed

Removed this uncited material: "She has been rumored to be the inspiration for the Rolling Stones 1973 hit "Angie" from the album Goat's Head Soup." Verification needed. Aolivex (talk) 19:28, 17 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The material has been added back with citations. The rumor that she inspired the song has been around for decades and has been mentioned in many reliable sources (I used Spy magazine and NME as examples mentioning the rumor, but there are likely many more). However, I also added clarification, with sources, that Mick and Keith have consistently denied this rumor and that Keith has said in 1993 that the title was about his daughter and then in 2010 that it was about no one in particular. NME also says the rest of the lyrics are about Marianne Faithfull. So hopefully this expanded and sourced version will cover it.TheBlinkster (talk) 14:46, 26 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
