Potentially Useful Image

In case it is of use, an image of the person's tombstone at Ross Bay Cemetery is available at [http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Ross_Bay_Cemetery_%28Victoria_BC%29 commons.wikimedia]. KenWalker | Talk 16:19, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox Artist

For the sake of consistency with other artists, I changed the infobox from person to artist. --Ducio1234 (talk) 00:14, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further Reading & Bibliography

I added a further reading section to this, with the biographies I could find; this article should also probably include a bibliography section. --phoebe 20:54, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Failed verification

I've added a failed-verification marker to the second sentence, which claims that "She and Joyce Wieland are considered to be Canada's greatest female artists.", because that simply isn't in the reference. The referenced page doesn't really say anything about the greatest Canadian female artists, and the only mention of Joyce Wieland on the page is among many others in a "List of Canadian Artists" along the right. Joyce Wieland's article cites a different page on the same site, which does make the claim that Wieland (alone) is the greatest, and doesn't mention Carr at all. 67.158.71.80 02:14, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Emily Carr

Emily Carr (1871–1945) was a Canadian artist and writer, and one of the first painters in Canada to adopt a Modernist and Post-Impressionist style. She received widespread recognition for her work when she changed from Aboriginal themes to landscapes. This 1939 painting by Carr, entitled Odds and Ends, depicts cleared land and tree stumps, revealing the impact of deforestation on British Columbia, and is now held by the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.
