External links

External links on Wikipedia are supposed to be "encyclopedic in nature" and useful to a worldwide (not "citywide") audience. Please read

the external links policy
before adding more external links.

The following kinds of links are inappropriate:

  • Online discussion groups or chat forums
  • Personal webpages and blogs
  • Multiple links to the same website
  • Links to search engines (Wikipedia readers are smart enough to run their own internet searches!)
  • Fundraising events or groups
  • Websites that are selling things (e.g., books or memberships)

I realize that some links are helpful to certain users, but they still do not comply with Wikipedia policy, and therefore must not be included in the article. WhatamIdoing (talk) 06:57, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First Saturday in May

The article states that GMM is held the first Saturday in May, however the caption for the picture at the top of the article states that it takes place on May 8, 2004. May 8 would have been the second Saturday in May 2004. So which is it? Van Vidrine (talk) 20:59, 20 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"first Saturday in May, or thereabouts." - found in the first paragraph. --Timeshifter (talk) 04:14, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, but "or thereabouts" seems rather vague. Is it the fisrt Saturday in May unless the Saturday is the first of May? Or does it sometimes vary from the "first Saturday" rule based upon some other influences? How is someone supposed to know what day it is in any given year? Van Vidrine (talk) 19:53, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia just reports the info. The GMM is anarchy in action. It seems there are many reasons why a city's organizers may need to use a different day or weekend. --Timeshifter (talk) 03:46, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
