Hurricane Sandy occurred at a unique time because the October Weather Pattern of 2012 was very unique. There was a trough in the Ohio/Tennessee Valley, while a ridge was parked in the open Atlantic. That created an alley for Sandy to come up the coast and make a sharp left hook towards South Jersey. The trough pulled the system towards the Jersey Coast. The impacts from this storm was catastrophic. There was lots of damaging winds, heavy rain and storm surge were huge issues for the tri-state area.
