I don't know much about Joe Louis Clark other than the film "Lean On Me" starring Morgan Freeman as Joe Louis Clark. It would be nice to know more about Joe Louis Clark. The way the article is written now it doesn't contain much information at all about Joe Louis Clark. Qewr4231 (talk) 23:12, 5 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

From Mr. Clark's webpage:

"He then went on to get his B.A. from William Paterson College and a Master's Degree from Seton Hall University."

Does mention attending or graduating from Rutgers. Could this be an error in the wiki entry? 76.21.129.39

Libelous content... It's amazing that calling someone an anti-semite without references can pass through the Wiki content for two years. Someone can add that content but needs a reference. I deleted the whole section as none of it really has any references. Jponline77 (talk) 04:38, 24 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eastside High's performance scores 17 years later

I've removed the following reference in the article to Eastside High's performance scores in 2008. I don't see how the school's poor test scores 17 years after Clark's departure can add anything to his bio. That is nearly a generation and who knows how many other principals and teachers later. Unless a reference for the scores from the 1991 school year can be found, or a source can be found that claims the current poor performance is in some way due to Clark's methods, I think it's enough to say that the scores did not improve enough to avoid the state takeover, and leave it at that. I've pasted the ref below in case someone disagrees.

as of 2008, Eastside High ranked 311 of New Jersey's 316 high schools, and was among the schools taken over by the state one year after Clark's departure in 1991. "Top New Jersey High Schools 2008: By Rank", New Jersey Monthly, September 2008, posted August 7, 2008. Accessed August 19, 2008. 76.93.232.16 (talk) 06:46, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Clark Nowadays

I do know Mr. Clark currently resides outside of Gainesville, Fl. I see him around town every once in a while, and he holds speaking engagements around the area on occassion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.171.22.203 (talk) 13:10, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Clark?

I feel that there could be more information about Joe Clark himself in this article. I have found several reputable sources regarding Joe Clark, especially about his role as a principal. He was a topic in Johnathan Kozol's book, The Shame of the Nation, and his distinct habit of carrying around a bullhorn and a baseball bat with him at Eastside High School could be relevant. In fact he was featured in Time Magazine with his signature baseball bat during the 1908s while he was principal. Also I would like to include the years that he was the principal of Eastside, 1982-1988. He was formerly and Army Drill Sergeant. Afterwards, he became a director of a juvenile detention facility in 1990. Test scores did increase slightly during his tenure. He expelled 300 students whom he referred to in interviews as "parasites" and "leeches". I feel this would give the reader more information about Joe Clark himself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by GVelasco1 (talkcontribs) 22:44, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There isn't enough information about Joe Louis Clark in this article. I feel that there is a lot of sensationalism from the movie Lean On Me. I know very little about Joe Louis Clark other than the movie Lean On Me. I would like to know more about his educational philosophies and policies; what worked and what did not. If Joe Louis Clark is the great educator that Morgan Freeman portrayed in Lean On Me, then talk about what Joe Louis Clark did to spark a movie to be made about him as an educator. Talk about how the schools he worked at improved. Talk about how the students' lives were changed for the better. Talk more about test scores and grades. Talk more about school programs. Talk about how students went on to succeed after being in Louis' programs. I want to hear more about that than "You can call me batman." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:4260:35D0:1175:5B1F:B975:EDEA (talk) 05:35, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done but next time please add said sources. Wyliepedia @ 16:45, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
