I cannot find another article under Jawad Maliki or any other name. Please give more precise information of an existing article if you know of one. He means

I can't find a reference to a 1946 birth date online, so I removed it. His birth year appears to be uncertain to journalists; it looks like "c. 1950" is good enough for now. His hometown is right between Karbala and Hilla which may explain the confusion about birthplace. --Cam 16:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Broken Link

Reference 26 in the "Censorship" section is broken. It just goes to the homepage... I'm assuming the article must have been taken down. Google search for the quote led me back to wikipedia. Exile and Return to Iraq

Article currently states he returned to Iraq after the fall of Saddam Hussein. Hussein was pushed out at great expense by powerful forces. What motivated and/or funded Malikis' return? Did he make a deal with the same forces who deposed Hussein or did he rise as a natural leader? Who paid his travel expenses coming home?Outofthebox (talk) 04:22, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed terrorist statement

I don't think it's vandalism although I would question the relevence & neutrality - I've heard the line before about Dawa and it's discussed in more detail in the article Islamic Dawa Party. Dawa clearly was involved in terrorism against Saddam - just like the African National Congress was - but I haven't seen any specific link between al-Maliki and terrorism. Secret letter from Maliki

This is copy of a recently found secret letter from Maliki to Muqtada Sadr and Iranian embassy in Baghdad, in which he suggests that heads of Sadr Militias take refuge in Iran for a temporarily period in order to not be arrested or killed by Americans (in their new campaign agaist terrotists), and not lose current positions they already got. http://www.peyamner.com/filesbank/img/200207035424.JPG

Wow, this is a really good source, signed by the man himself. To be honest everyone had their suspicions, but this is gold. It will also be an awsome idea to mention the two or three (maybe more incidents) where Maliki urged the US government and gave them trouble until the release of dozens of Iranian officials arrested and found out via interrogation to be intelligence officials. many found in Dawa and similar party offices - including a few Sunni ones as well. Removed statement about Maliki's videographer

Military operations

This article needs to be expanded to include the operations that Maliki ordered the ISF to carry out in Spring 2008, particularly in Basra, Mosul, Sadr City and Maysan province. Right, he is not the first prime minister of Iraq, even if one only counts the period after 2003 (in fact Iraq has had prime ministers since the 1920s). NPOV Dispute - Opening paragraph

The last sentences of the opening paragraph currently read "In June 2014, the United States has asked for Maliki to give up his premiership in favor of someone who could better represent the Iraqi people. The problems that have arisen are all political, and the terrorists are now Sunnis. Nouri has been the premier of a democratic Iraq for 8 years, so it would seem sensible to transition him out." The first sentence needs a citation or it should be removed. As far as I can tell, the last two sentences have been in that paragraph for quite some time, but they seem to lack a neutral point of view. Xijjix (talk) 23:42, 2 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that sentences 2-3 have been removed already. I am re-wording sentence 1 and adding a reference. The US does not speak with a single voice; this is the opinion of US officials in the executive branch ("the Obama administration", as WSJ puts it). Furthermore, there is no report that they made this request to Maliki. Although they may have, privately, it is not verifiable. Now it reads "In June 2014, United States officials said that Maliki should give up his premiership." I hope this resolves the NPOV issue. Incumbent

After searching a lot around, I came to the conclusion that al-Maliki is still Vice President. I changed the infobox to "Incumbent" as the apparent official Vice President website still features him here: [2]. Also press agency AFP refers to him as Vice President, and today Turkish Foreign Minister mentioned him with that title. I'll introduce a short paragraph now to add these facts and sources. Election results

Election results are completely missing in the whole article. They're missing for 2005, 2010 and 2014. They would explain why al-Maliki did not want to leave office, as he had clearly won the 2014 elections with the by far strongest political alliance. Actually, it is indeed not the best democratic fashion for a ceremonial President to nominate anyone else then the person, who had contestest the elections as the top candidate of his alliance. I understand that he would not have been able to reach a majority in parliament, but one can imagine that in a western country this would have been a scandal, to name a successor, while the predecessor did not even announce his resignation. --SamWinchester000 (talk) 02:39, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
