Trivia question

Which racehorse of the 1980s was named British Horse of the Year and Timeform Horse of the Year despite never winning a Group Race? Hint- he was a two-year-old.  Tigerboy1966  17:21, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

correct, I had just finished the article: Provideo.  Tigerboy1966  20:56, 2 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Could you or  Tigerboy1966  take a look at him and see if anything else needs to be done? I added the Race Career table that I wanted to do, since he wasn't too far out in most races. I think it's mature enough to release into the Wiki-wild. Thanks for all your input! — WylieCoyote 07:44, 8 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you - just trying to open up the discussion a little and see if we can get somewhere with these two issues - I'll add my own thoughts later. --Bcp67 (talk) 20:44, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thoroughbred

Hello. Thanks for querying my action over the term 'thoroughbred'. According to the international edition of Funk & Wagnalls Standard Dictionary, the initial T of 'Thoroughbred is capitalised only when the following conditions apply:

  • The word is a proper noun (NOT an adjective)
  • The referent is "A horse whose ancestry is recorded in the English Stud Book, and which is therefore descended from one of three Eastern sires: the Byerly Turk, the Darley Arabian, or the Godolphin".
Can you please cite a superior authority for capitalising it as an adjective, or go back and restore my copyedits? Cheers, Bjenks (talk) 05:30, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rainbow Quest/Thanks

Thanks for doing the disambiguation on various pages linked to Rainbow Quest. His legacy lives on and I really should expand his article further. He was one of those rare horses who seemed to float over the ground. And now he's the damsire of a Grand National winner, which made me dig out my Timeform annuals.  Tigerboy1966  20:15, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sole Power

I actually edit-conflicted with you as I was adding the result at exactly the same time! I haven't started a SP article but he has now won 2 G1 races which is usually my trigger point. Will be up within a week. Kingsgate Native is overdue as well. I suppose I get so used to British and Irish sprinters getting stomped on in international races that I forget that some of them are really rather good. Tigerboy1966  19:54, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ps thanks for your offer of help over on Ravinella. Tigerboy1966  19:55, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, I only realised I'd forgotten to do her links when I saw you had linked her on Darshaan's page. Edwarddutton (talk) 21:33, 20 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tom Simpson

Are you still up for copy-editing the article? I've requested one at

WP:GOCE, but I'm not sure when that'll happen. I've nominated it for GA review prematurely, only because my experience is that it can take months to be picked up. All I need to do is expand the doping and riding style sections, maybe add some more to personal life. I split the death section off to Death of Tom Simpson, which gained GA status yesterday. Want to get that up to FA so it could do with a look over. I think the only thing missing from it is a reaction section. Any ideas on both will be very welcome. Hope you can help. Certainly - its a great article already and should be well worth GA itself in due course. Will also have a look at the Death article and see if I can add anything there. Might get hold of the Fotheringham book to help (currently reading his biog of Merckx, which is worth a read). I'm not about for a couple of weeks but will get stuck into it when I've got time. Disambiguation thanks

Thanks very much for adding the disambiguations to Declaration of war and Teleprompter articles. AND for fixing the typo on various article: one of thee day I mut ort out the faulty "S" key on my decrepit Tohiba laptop (urely ome mitake?). Tigerboy1966  22:40, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Did wonder if you had an "s" key problem actually! Always happy to copy-edit articles - I never have time now to create anything from scratch myself but I can usually find a few mins to flick through articles and fix any odd bits and pieces. Good to see Bedtime mentioned in the Teleprompter article too as a contributor to geldings being admitted to G1 races here. --Bcp67 (talk) 06:07, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Are you ok there?

We have been missing your contributions. Hope you are ok and that this is just a short wikiholiday. Tigerboy1966  00:14, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good to see you back. Having tried to do the results updates for the last few weeks I now appreciate how much work it actually takes. Tigerboy1966  12:19, 12 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal to rename/merge

Please see my proposals to speedily rename/merge:

PS: the categories by year for Rugby sevens and rugby tours could do with a proper mavigation box like Category:2013 rugby union tours; and probably with a parent category like Category:Rugby union tours by year and Category:Rugby union sevens by year.
