Hey, I'm not sure who to ask but I decided to ask you simply for the fact that you're a lot more experienced than me. Maybe you know about formatting or know someone who is good at it? Theres a small formatting concern for Frederick III, German Emperor on its peer review page (the only one not struck through, under Infobox) and I'd like to fix that before bringing it to FAC. Just finished the article. Looks like there's not as much here as we thought. According to Craig, most of the records of what exactly happened in Mayfield have been lost (perhaps in a fire that burned the courthouse in 1864). Toward the end of the article, however, he makes the following assertion:

"The groundwork for what happened in Russellville [the Russellville Convention] had been laid in Mayfield, although it remains unclear exactly what the convention there did decide. ... Judge Herbert Carr of Fulton County declared in a 1907 speech that the Mayfield gathering did indeed adopt a secession resolution. The highway marker in front of the current Graves County Courthouse makes the same assertion. These claims seem unlikely however. As a Unionist, Beadles [James N. Beadles, whose notes represent the most complete surviving record of the convention] would have been quick to report such a development. He wrote that the western Kentuckians rejected secession from the state at that time because they believed the entire state would leave the Union eventually. Neither the majority nor the minority committee report – neither of which passed – explicitly stated that the Purchase should secede." (pp. 359–360)

Inasmuch as this convention "laid the groundwork" for the Russellville Convention, it may merit a brief mention in Confederate government of Kentucky, but it seems unlikely (or at best, inconclusive) that anything resembling secession occurred there. Also, if you got a picture of the historical marker, it might be appropriate in that article now. This information can also probably be copied to Graves County, Kentucky and Kentucky in the American Civil War at some point. Perhaps other articles as well. Project news Following a lengthy discussion, three new coordinators – EyeSerene, Maralia and the_ed17 - have been coopted. OH I just found it John Herbert Kelly was the Second youngest Confederate Brig. General by 4-6 days beat only by William Paul Roberts who was also 23. Galusha Pennypacker was the Youngest Brig. Howdy, I think I found a good reference for the one of the youngest generals to die during the Civil War at 24 part of the Hook it sais "The youngest casualty was Edmund Kirby, a twenty-three-year-old New Yorker...he died almost a month later on the day he was promoted brigadier general. Take it from my experience; doing something for Wikipedia is liking peeing in your black pants; gives you a warm feeling, but you are not likely to be noticed. Yeah I'm right there with you. I don't know much about FAs and stuff but I felt strongly enough about this article I was working on to nominate it. Luckily the MilHist project is the best organized project I'm in and it provides a lot of ways for members to see different FACs going on and such so that should help in the long run, even if the FACs take awhile. --Banime (talk) 01:23, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
