Sig

Hi,

You can use normal web formatting. Best is to use css styles, but that depends on what you want to achieve.
Paste the code for your sig in the "signature"-edit box in the first tab of "my preferences", and don't forget to check the "Raw signature" check box beneath it.
That should do it. Don't hesitate to call back if you need further assistance. -- ➌  LucVerhelst  16:28, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's nice, a bit too pink for me, but that's just taste. :-D
No problem for taking my "design", I kind of borrowed and adapted it from someone else, too. Isn't that what Wikipedia is about, the open source thing ?
One remark : I would put a space before the 'C' of Connor, and after the last </font> tag. Otherwise, things seem glued together. You best use "&nbsp;", a plain space is removed by the browser. -- ➌  LucVerhelst  21:23, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean about the light purple.
About the spaces : something weird happened. The spaces weren't there the first time (this edit : [1]), but after I archived the larger part of the page, the spacing was right (this edit : [2]. And now, after your changes, there seems to be a little too much space... I really don't understand what happened!
Another problem : I'm using Firefox. I just opened the page in IE6, and the rightmost border seems to disappear under the light purple background of your name. You might fix that by adding a right border to the span your name is in (with border-right: 1px solid MediumSlateBlue; but you know that). (This trick is not going to get you any awards...)
Success. -- ➌  LucVerhelst  21:55, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute resolution and junk articles

If a new user is removing speedy deletion tags on that crap article they created, it doesn't need to be taken to any dispute resolution. You can just leave a note about it on

dispute resolution mechanisms are for disputes about the content of an article, not about whether an article should be deleted or not (for non-speedy cases, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion), or whether a user is being disruptive. —Centrxtalk • 22:08, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply

B's Star Pic

Great work getting that pic on the

Barnard's star page. I had noticed that NASA link but didn't see any arrow pointing to the star. Did you or someone add that little yellow line or are my eyes no good? Marskell 11:05, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply

Very quickly: thx for the leg-work on the pic, and yes I intend to nominate the page for FA soon (a few tweaks needed). I'll post more tomorrow. Marskell 22:50, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Butterley Tunnel

Dear DogNewTricks

The article is no longer short. It is larger than many already in Wikipedia, it is properly cited and images have been added. It is larger than daughter articles which have already branched from the Cromford Canal page. Would you consider re-visiting the page and changing your vote to Keep.

Yours Faithfully Martin Cordon

Barnard's Star images

Hi! I was wondering if you could help me better understand the images on your home page? When I compare the images showing the movement (both the animation and the "still" version), I can't seem to align them perfectly.

The version showing the motion (lower right) has two stars close to the 2005 location, one dim one close to the star on the right, and a brighter one just to the right of that. I can see two stars in the still image above (upper right) that seem to be similar, and would align if I rotate the motion frame about 30 degrees clockwise. However, there is a rather prominent "arrowhead" in the motion image, which does not appear in the other. Is this off-frame?

BTW I only came across this article in a roundabout fashion. I was trolling through the backlog logs looking for things to help out on, and noticed that the 61 Cygni article had an unref tag. So I fixed that (and greatly expanded the article while doing so) and started following links out to other pages like Groombridge 1830. And so I eventually ended up on Barnard's Star. I love the wiki :-)

What's a bit sad is that I remember reading about it back when I was a kid. I realize in retrospect that if I had looked at it then I would be able to see the movement today. That's a pretty impressive statement if you think about it, given that it's over 5 ly away, it's not hard to put into perspective just how fast it's moving!

WikiProject Rock music
invitation

Hello WikiProject Alternative music member.
WikiProject Alternative music, in my eyes, has proved to be successful "improving the encyclopaedic coverage of articles relating to alternative rock", and improving their quality as well. One specific example I have witnessed is The Smashing Pumpkins article. The page has gone from a mediocre work, to GA status, to FA nomination. Only appropriate, as the Pumpkins are undeniably one of the most influential alternative rock bands on the 1990's and beyond.
This is the stuff I wish to achieve with the somewhat recently ressurected

WikiProject Rock music. I hope to also attract attention to rock music
articles of all sorts, and hopefully change some to GA or FA status. I invite you to come join us, and not only be a member of alternative Wikipedians, but the rockin' ones as well.
Rock on.

Barnard's Star image license

Do you have a link that could be added to support the PD-author tag on Image:Barnardstar2006.jpg and the other photos by Steve Quirk? Or an e-mail that could be sent to OTRS (see Wikipedia:Requesting_copyright_permission). I ask because I didn't see anything on the site about him releasing the images PD, but I noticed on Talk:Barnard's Star that you seemed to have put some effort into getting properly free images. Someone has copied the images to Commons, incorrectly marking them as NASA work, so I'd like to clear up the license. --Davepape 17:47, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As you haven't edited this year, I doubt you'll be editing in the next 24. If you are, Barnard's Star is on the mainpage. I think of you fondly when I think of this page :). Hope you come back around to the site. Marskell 21:40, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
