I did have a look at editing the 5,000+ DYK stats page, but it looked just a bit too complicated for a newbie like me.--

Allenton Hippo

Using your ref numbers "...3706" looks good and the first ones on the CD you gave me. ..3651-3655 show good head views and the first five on my CD (they have names rather than ref numbers and show the sculpture in Allenton, the head again and the whole thing again. The article is here if you'd like to see or edit it. You may have noticed that Ive added several score of pictures from the museum to Flickr. The quality is not good but it will show wikipedians what is available ... to photograph properly! 14:57, 30 January 2011 (UTC)Victuallers (talk)

Hippo images now uploaded to Wikimedia, and I've attempted to add categories to them all. I've added these to your draft Hippo page, and also added some geological notes, too. I could add another image of the laser-scanning process with the hippo tooth displayed on a computer screen, but I couldn't convince myself this was really necessary.
Perhaps you can give me some feedback if I've made any errors along the way. Still can't get my head around communication to you within Wikipedia - not sure if you see this message on your Talk page, or not.--

The messaging service works by my clicking on the star at the top of this page. This adds your page to my watch list.

So I see someone has made an edit via my watch list and if I'm intrigued ... and I was , then I read it. I have nt seen any errors yet. If you add pictures to commons then someone can always add them later- but I agree we have enough pics for the size of article we have.

I'm thrilled at the moment as "Fae" has made google goggles work on Derby museums exhibits .... see gmail... 00:01, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

William Martin

see here Idea was to DYK it with a QR code as the pic? Fanct proofreading it? Victuallers (talk) 17:07, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Proof-reading done, but I've not had a chance to confirm the factual statements themselves. Do we need to make a new QR code for this and get a photo?

Request for article

As part of the Cultural Partnerships initiative, Wikimedia is hoping to produce a series of case studies that can be combined in book where various professional cultural organisation who have worked with Wikipedia will tell their own story, in their own words, about why they chose to do this and what advantages/problems this has resulted in (in your case using QR codes in galleries). We find that people telling their own story is much more powerful than if Wikipedians were to tell the story for them. This is based on Creative Commons' equivalent case studies book. Each case study will available as a standalone physical and digital page, as well as combined into a hardcopy collection. Specifically what I would like is for a one or two page piece of prose text, a couple of pull-quotes, and a couple of associated photographs, that can be laid out into an attractive webpage and accompanying printed book. The prose could briefly describe:

  1. The reasons that your organisation decided to collaborate with Wikimedia
  2. What risks/fears you had, how they were addressed/solved.
  3. What the outcomes have been, both intended and unexpected.
  4. An example of something extra special that you would like to draw attention to.
  5. Some statistics.
  6. What you think the organisation will do in the future.

The text itself would need to be licensed as CC-by-SA or CC-by and we would need permission to use the organisation's logo in the context of this case study. Best regards, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 17:43, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure I could convert part of my Powerpoint presentation into something that would suit this brief. You didn't specify a timescale or deadline. (I may need reminding!!)

There is no deadline per-say, although we'd like it done sooner, rather than later, and put on this page on Outreachwiki (make sure you're logged in) :-). Thanks, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash (Driving well?) 14:37, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Just to remind you about this, at GLAMcamp in a few weeks, it would be nice to be able to show people an example of one of these articles. Do you reckon you could have it done by then, or at least a first draft? Thanks in advance, Rock drum Ba-dumCrash 09:08, 2 May 2011 (UTC)
