Hello,

This is in reference to the article draft "Ritu Pathak".This article has been rejected again.Earlier the only reason cited for its rejection was lesser number of references. Now I have added 7 more references. So there are 19 references now and all the references are verifiable.Still there is concern of notability which I cannot understand. Please guide me what all could be done on this article so that it would meet your standards. Link to the article : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Ritu_Pathak

Prabhat 9 (talk) 18:28, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Prabhat 9 - Here are the issues with those additional citations. The first one (currently #3) is an interview, which is considered a primary source, so it's invalid for notability purposes. Same with current #7. #8 is a brief blurb, consisting mostly of a quote by the singer, so again, primary. #9 is at best a trivial mention (frankly, I couldn't find a mention at all). #10 also doesn't mention the artist. #12 again, is worthless for notability, being primary. #13 is a pr piece masquerading as a news article. #15 is a simple song listing, doesn't help notability. So, bottom line, you've added zero sources which help her notability. You need in-depth articles from reliable sources which aren't interviews. Hope this helps. Hi Doctree. Ok so I'm trying to help out over at ACC, and I've created a couple of accounts (including my first COI user - woo hoo!), taking it slow, as I don't want to screw up. So I pick another account creation request, and I reserve the name. But first wierd thing is that it shows that the request bounced from 3 ip addresses: beginning at 128.109.x.xx, bouncing to 152.26.xxx.xx, and coming directly from 10.68.xx.xx. The first two are "untrusted", so I begin to research them. The 152 was blocked by an admin as a schoolblock, "anon. only, account creation disabled" back in September 2014. The 128 address is clean. The username doesn't violate any of the rules. How should I proceed? Onel5969 TT me 17:53, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Ashleygregor - I'd get rid of trivia. Stuff like Co-President of his class, his commencement address, studying abroad. Also stuff like the vp of the Harvard democrats, faculty laison, and Asian law students. When he did something like found the homelessness thing, that's a good point.
But that's not the main issue. The main issue is one of notability. Right now he doesn't have it. If he's elected, to the Penn house, than he's notable. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 02:04, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Covecap - The first one is fine. That's exactly the type wiki looks for, although it's more of an article for showing Ko's notability, rather than the company, but it's an okay source. The second isn't independent, since Ko is connected to MIT. If that same article had appeared in Crain's, or Forbes, it would be fine. Hope this makes sense. Draft:SkySync

I've been

SkySync into a proper encyclopedia article. It unfortunately looks like my advice wasn't as helpful as I had hoped it would be; do you know anyone who is well versed in cleaning up promotional content on Wikipedia who might be able to help her rescue her draft? I know that she is a newcomer, and I'm hoping that she hasn't been discouraged by three consecutive declined AfC submissions. Cheers! Michael Barera (talk
) 04:55, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Michael Barera - I think what you wrote on her talk page was very well thought out, and pretty good advice. Your advice on the sections is spot on, unfortunately in a short article, over half of it is taken up by "products" and "partners", both are selling points for a product. In shorter articles, this makes the overall tone promotional. If this article had a history section 40x longer, and had those two sections, their promotion quality would be muted, but as it stands, right now they dominate. What you said is best: stick to facts. When was the company founded? Where? By Whom? When did it expand? Has it acquired other companies. When was the first commercial use of the product. Go into the development history. Which is basically the same message you gave to her. One hint is the "Partners" section. Rather than simply list who they are partners with, make those partnerships part of the history section. e.g. "In August 2015, Box Metadata entered into a partnership with Skysync. The company needed blah blah, and chose Skysync to blah blah..." See the difference, I'm still conveying the business relationship, but not simply in a promotional way, but in giving information, which is what an encyclopedia does differently than a business directory. I'm not going to get into the notability of the product (don't feel I have enough knowledge there). Not sure this helps, but hope it does. Thanks for taking the time to try to help Krystalelliott. Take it easy. Onel5969 TT me 12:19, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Franklin D Roosevelt High school edit

Hello, I am still pretty new at wikipedia. But I was wondering why you removed the person (Greg Kohls) I added. I based the criteria on winning a major award (All Americans). Yeah he was honorable mention, but it's still a major award. I can't see anything that says that's not allowed.

I believe that Kohls is probably notable enough to have his own page and I'd be willing to do the grunt work on that if that's part of the issue.

Please let me know your thoughts, or point me in the right direction.

Thanks!

Hi
WP:NCOLLATH. The All-American award could be evidence of notability, but it depends, I'd have to see the source which shows that he was named to the first team. I hope this helps. If you think he does meet the guidelines, I can help you build an article - but I'll help, you should do most of the work, that way you'll learn. Let me know. Onel5969 TT me
15:19, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
Ah. Thank you. Unfortunately as far as the All-American status goes, he wasn't first team. he was honorable mention... though that is still technically a major national award. Looks like there is quite a bit of debate as to whether or not anything other than 1st team should or shouldn't be admitted. But fair enough if it's not. He was also one of the top scorers in his day and named to Syracuse University's "All-Century Team" so it's quite unfortunate that I can't find more about him. Oh well, I can always keep researching! Hi there, User:Onel5969!

Thank you for your review of the Tailored Label Products draft! Could you help me understand why you feel this article reads like an advertisement? In my opinion, the article includes only factual, neutral information. Do you feel that way because there is a list of product and service offerings? If so, would omitting those sections help the article appear even more neutral?

I have been working diligently on this article to provide only the best citing from high-quality news/media outlets and include only rich, unbiased content that meets Wikipedia's strict guidelines for page creation. I would really appreciate any assistance you could provide!

I have resubmitted the draft and hope you can take another minute or two to review it for me. Your help is very much appreciated! - User:Tnetrpm
Hi
WP:AUD, companies are required to show more than local/specific regional coverage. The Daily Herald is a nice mention, and that counts. But since the focus of the article isn't on your subject, you'd need several like that from sources outside of the Wisconsin area. I think from a notability standpoint, it's close, another nice in-depth article or two and you'd be over the hump. To me, the bigger issue is still the tone. I edited the programs section to show you the difference between what was there, which led like a brochure at a hiring fair, to simply being informative. The other two sections need to be edited along these lines as well. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me

Dear Onel5969, RE Draft:Glen Gabriel. Thanks for your excellent advice. After many hours of work I have added and deleted some references accordingly, which should hopefully now address the notability question. He has scored several Hollywood movies featuring some well known stars, orchestrated award winning songs, and his music has been staged in a ballet at the Zurich Opera House. For all these I believe I have found credible independent references. I feel these are no mean achievements and he is now worthy of a Wikipedia page. I made significant changes after the article was first turned down to make it less like an essay. There shouldn't be any opinions left in the article. Any opinions are expressed in quotes which came directly from people involved in the project. If these are an issue I can remove them. Can you give me some specific examples of language I should change?

Hi 206.136.32.202 - Articles should simply tell us facts, not relate a story, not have commentary, etc. In addition, your article has significant structural issues. I've left you some links on the draft you might find helpful. Regarding language, get rid of stuff like "Jony and Daniele ignored many of the central tenants of the Pomona Design brief and returned to the original Mac and the Color Classic for inspiration," and " Marketing wanted end users to be able to increase their video performance with an add-on card." I'd get rid of any quotes which seem promotional. Finally, the article relies way to heavily on a single source. I hope this makes sense. Onel5969 TT me 18:39, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Review of draft by Joshuahemmings

This draft was declined (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Michael_Schluter) and I wondered if you could help me understand why it was declined. The reason is that "This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article." but I'm not entirely sure what in the article this refers, would be great if you could help me! Thanks!

Hi Joshuahemmings. First, whenever you leave a message on a talk page (either a user's or an article's), please "sign" it with ~~~~ - that automatically puts your name and time of message.
Now, about the draft. First, there are items which are misleading. For example, in the lead you say that his organization defeated Margaret Thatcher. That's untrue. His organization one of several factors which led to the defeat of a parliamentary bill, which Thatcher supported. Using his first name throughout is incorrect, use his surname. But the biggest issue is that there is no coverage of any of his detractors, so the article has a large POV issue. Lines like "the absence of which had been a major cause of the genocide" and "He is also an expert on the value of relationships in management"
While your article is basically well sourced, stuff like "it had 140 more seats than all the other parties combined", and "This was the first time in 100 years that a civil society group had overturned a government bill" are completely unsourced. I hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me 18:49, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

The company (Regenestem) is notable and has a reasonable amount of references attached, but is still not verified. I have seen multiple articles on businesses with a much smaller amount of articles, but are still verified. The company is a BBB accredited business, with multiple written articles from reliable sources such as the Boston Globe and LA Daily News. With this being said, the main concern is, what more needs to be done to display notability? Thank You.

Hi
WP:ILC, since you'll in-line citations. The Daily News and Boston Globe citations are pretty much worthless. They are press releases, and therefore not independent of the company. What you'll need is at least 3 in-depth articles from independent reliable sources, from more than regional location. For example if those two sources (News and Globe) were actual articles, that would work. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me

Naming laws in Sweden

Hi!

You reverted changing "Albin" to "Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116" on the page Naming law in Sweden. While this absolutely looks like spam, it's not. It's a silly protest name protesting the naming laws of Sweden, which is what the page is about. The citations on the page clearly states that. Just "Albin" isn't very weird or protest worthy, and makes the page read very strange - because there's nothing noteworthy with naming a child "Albin" in Sweden.

Ong Seok Kim

Hi Onel5969, English is not my first language, so excuse me if the article is not meeting Wikipedia's policy and your expectation. I appreciate your patience in guiding me to complete a document of this significant person in Malaysian Chinese history.

The other challenge I have is that Ong Seok Kim is a leading Malaysian Chinese figure and a lot of stuff about him is documented in the Malaysian and Singapore Chinese media. There are over 400 news items of him in just one Chinese press alone (Nanyang Siang Pau) between 1923 and 1964 as documented in an e-book, Ong Seok Kim - News in Media, 1923-1964, which was published in 2015 (see ongseokkim.com). Also recently (late 2014 and early 2015), 6 Chinese press in Malaysia published detailed feature articles of Ong Seok Kim to coincide with the publication (in late 2014) of a Chinese Biography of him (see ongseokkim.com "Media Reports"). Having regard to this, the vast differences in the documentation of Ong Seok Kim in English and Chinese language, how do I adequately referenced his achievements and contributions to the Malaysian and Chinese societies in this Wikipedia article? I appreciate your advice.

You may have googled "Ong Seok Kim" for sources/references but if you google his names in Chinese 王叔金 there are many times more sources/references to his name than googling his romanised name. Thus your guidance as to how I should use "sources/references" is appreciated.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi

As required by the Wikipedia standards, we have removed any promotional content that reads like an advertisement and have presented the article from a neutral point of view. We however do not understand why you have reservations regarding our references as they are sourced from reliable published sources like Business Standard, The Economic Times, The Hindu etc.

Hello Onel5969

thanks very much for looking over the page about Fife Contemporary Art & Craft. I followed your advice and left a question on the helpdesk but haven't had any response so wondered if you might have some time to help me? I would really like to work towards getting it accepted if possible so would like to get specific advice on what improvements would help (this will help me work out if it's going to be possible or not). It's about a non profit art organisation which has been around in it's present state for 9 years (with a much longer history) but there is not much discussion of it online. I would consider taking text out if sections of it are not appropriate. I read the guidelines in advance and tried to follow models for other arts organisations so it would be very helpful to get specific tips. I also asked if the title name / url should have the word 'and' rather than '&'. many thanks, loolah

Hi 211.30.209.196 - You're doing a great job so far, but there are a few things which I think need to happen before you resubmit. First, after the first time you use Ong's full name, refer to him only by his last name from that point on. Two, there are still some informal expressions throughout the article, such as "Kim’s loyalty to his homeland", "on the principles of loyalty to family", "At the urging and support of local community leaders", are a few examples. Third, the article is full of overlinks. You only have to link once to another wikipage, e.g. a single link to Malaya, etc. Finally, the "significant timeline" should go away. All those facts should be in the body of the article. Hope this helps. After you make your edits, let me know and I'll take another look. Onel5969 TT me 23:53, 14 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi! I'm a bit confused about the review... If I look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daryl_Guppy, Daryl is a trader as Andrea, but a loss less known... His reference to CNBC is empty (page not found when you click on it) The reference to China Daily is 1 article reporting basically an interview... And he was approved to be on wikipedia...

Could you please better clarify which material is ok as a reference and which is not? It'd would greatly help me to improve the copy of the article. Thank you! :)

Hi
other stuff exists. Frankly, I don't think the article belongs either. At least not in its current condition. I didn't look at your references, simply because the article as currently written simply reads like a promotional blurb for the subject. He's an accomplished speaker, but is he notable? Are any of your sources from reliable independent sources and are in-depth? Stuff like traderpedia are invalid as references. Interviews are primary sources, so none of them go to the notability of the subject. Putting stuff like the Larry R. Williams University Hall of Fame makes him appear trivial, as does the World Cup Championship of Futures Trading. These are non-notable events, and the fact that they are the highlights of the article, which doesn't help his notability. Hope this helps. Onel5969 TT me

Hi. The "members of the show" don't get to vet who is or who is not notable. Wikipedia has guidelines which describe notability. Of the dancers listed, none met those criteria. I could have left an empty section, but that would have been sad. Regarding the show closing next month, as long is it's cited, it shouldn't get removed. If it's uncited, then there's always a chance that it could get removed. Onel5969 TT me 22:45, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

23:51:16, 16 January 2016 review of submission by Information Provided

Hello. I've listed over 20 references for this article that I just created. I created a page for a well known American football coach who was just hired by the University of Oregon football page. I provided a numbered citation to a reference after every sentence written on this person. After comparing it to another article that I created (Matt Lubick), I can't see why that article was accepted and the article for David Yost was denied. Please reply and thank you for your time.

Hi
WP:GNG. They fall under the category of routine or trivial mentions. Nothing to show that he is notable above and beyond the thousands of other assistant coaches in the country. Unfortunately, Lubick falls under this problem as well. Wish I had better guidance for you, other than to take a look at the notability requirements and focus on folks who meet those requirements. Onel5969 TT me
16:18, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. The pages that I have created for Matt Lubick and David Yost were done so because they are offensive coordinators in the college football ranks, they are not just assistant coaches. These coaching hires are often listed as news on ESPN. College football is a major sporting event and many offensive coordinators become head coaches in college football and later the National Football League. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Information Provided (talkcontribs) 18:15, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Chichester Street

As a matter of passing interest, and as a former resident of Kinnaird Street, I can confirm that the street was in fact formerly known as Chichester Street, and adequate citations are available. There is, however, no justification for adding it to this article. The street was renamed during the 1930s, long before The Blue Lamp was made. Bjenks (talk) 15:15, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

14:23:42, 18 January 2016 review of submission by Ivan Mato

Hello there, my name is Ivan Mato. I've been trying to create the Nextev wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:NEXTEV with the help of the community. It's my first time creating a new page, in the past I've been successful with completing existing articles.

Editors seem to focus on two things 1. Lack of notability and 2. Promotional undertones. I've tried to fix both but I've been unsuccessful. I would be extremely grateful if someone could help.

Regarding notability, the company has appeared in a plethora of reputable media outlets and agencies such as Fortune, Fast Company, Reuters, Bloomberg and multiple sector websites. It has also hired hundreds of designers and engineers and made some high impact hires such as Martin Leach and Padmasree Warrior, both with Wikipedia articles to their name. Also, regarding the lack of a product, other companies still without a product (such as Faraday Future) already have a Wikipedia page. The company has announced a product and it's already sponsoring the China racing Team FormulaE team.

In terms of 2. Promotional Undertones, I've tried to keep the language as descriptive as possible but any help will be welcomed. Would it be possible to get some direct advice about the parts that are the issue?

Many thanks in advance for your help, Ivan

Ivan Mato The article simply still needs any further available in-depth third-party sources overall to solidly satisfy the companies notability guidelines. SwisterTwister talk 08:04, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for writing, the changes I made to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_planet si in fact a revertion to the image that was there for the last 4 years up to 7 Jan 2016, when it was changed by Maranello_Prime for an non-stated reason. I would like to know why exactly "it did not appear constructive" while the removal of it was constructive. I think is a mistake. The image I put again today, https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Oceanplanet_lucianomendez.JPG has been used in several other languajes wikipedia as you can see in the section "File usage" (among other reasons I think is more constructive than the one you put). In fact, I didn't know exactly how to revert the change 11:26, 7 January 2016 without affecting the subsequent editions, so I simply put back the image today. Maybe that was a wrong procedure...if you know a better way to do so, could you please informe me how to do it? Please be so kind as to help me edit the Steve Comisar article. I see that you have worked on it before. I'm new at this and don't know how to do it. I'd like to add these 2 new sentences to the end of the "career" section:

The FBI ranked Comisar in the top ten con men of all time, second only to Frank Abagnale, the subject of the motion picture, Catch Me if You Can, directed by Steven Spielberg.[12] Comisar had supporting roles as an actor in various motion pictures, television shows, and commercials.[3]

(see last 2 pages of Observer article referencing Comisar)

[3] is the existing link from the GQ Magazine article.

Thanks for your help with this. I'm only a beginner. Curiouskitten777 (talk) 17:31, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Curiouskitten777 - The issue is, it is not backed up by a reliable source. Your link is an opinion piece, and the underlying link is to a blog. You'd need a link to an official FBI listing showing that he ranked that high. Now it's just rumor. His acting creds are not going to go into the article. I can find no credible references that he ever acted. There's quite a bit about the acting stuff on the article's talk page. Sorry, but it doesn't seem appropriate for inclusion. GQ article is a reliable source.

The GQ article is a reliable source. It was an investigative piece written by Sabrina Erdely, an award-winning journalist. (see her Wikipedia page) The article clearly references Comisar's acting. GQ was used to reference Comisar's acting in the very first version of the article. Every subsequent version of the article over the past 4 years mentioned his acting until last month. The mention of his acting only became problematic when IMDb was added as an additional reference. One short sentence about his acting, referenced by GQ, at the end of the career section seems reasonable. This in no way implies that he is notable as an actor. This merely reveals the biographical fact that he did some acting. If anyone agrees, please edit.

"Comisar had supporting acting roles in several motion pictures, television shows, and commercials.[3]"

[3] GQ article link.

I also strongly disagree that the Observer piece is not a reliable source. It was not an opinion piece, and it was not from a blog. It was an investigative article from the actual New York Observer newspaper, a very reliable source. (see their Wikipedia page) I'd ask that you please reconsider this edit as well. If anyone agrees, please edit.

"The FBI has ranked Comisar in the top ten con men of all time, second only to Frank Abagnale, the subject of the motion picture, Catch Me if You Can, directed by Steven Spielberg.[12]"

[12] The New York Observer http://observer.com/2015/11/how-watching-mr-robot-made-me-paranoid-about-getting-hacked/

I finished the page, put his IMDB link under the reference section, which was enough evidence and reliable info to show that this person was not only notable, but actually getting to be well known in the Film and Television industry. I've seen wiki pages about actors with a LOT less info and work but they still have a page. ??? The page was denied at first, then I added interviews from other reliable and respected sources about Jordan Lawson and his career and life. Still...again it was denied. Please can you tell me what is wrong here? Like I said, there are MANY wiki pages that are nowhere near as referenced or credible but they are on your site here at wiki. Please let me know why the sources, sites and reliable info I've provided are not satisfying you. ???

Thanks!

Jordan Lawson Actor/Musician wiki page being denied???

Hello,

I recently created a page for Actor/Musician Jordan Lawson. The page keeps getting denied??? Jordan Lawson is even mentioned on several other wiki sites about movies, music and specific work related to his field that he's done in the past. I provided an IMDb page that shows all his work, credits, bio, story, interviews, past, present and future film and television work he doing. Please tell me WHY this page was denied when there are so many other pages on this site with a lot less reliable sources. I'm confused here about what to do.

Thanks! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/draft:jordan_lawson — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.32.243.183 (talk) 21:08, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

Please re-review my attempted page I tried to create

I created a page for Actor Jordan Lawson. However, the page was denied. I see other actors pages on this site that only have 1 reference and its IMDB page that shows their biography, films, television credits, etc. point is, I have provided that link and other confirming his work and story. Please re-review this info and consider this for a wiki page. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2605:E000:6221:5400:14AD:24BA:EC08:8ED8 (talk) 23:23, 21 January 2016 (UTC)

That doesn't mean they don't exist, but after that attempt I think it unlikely they do – which makes me think in turn he is not a suitable topic for an article (at this point in his career). changed hydrogen to hydrogen peroxide since that is almost certainly what was intended

There is no such thing as taking a bath in dilute hydrogen and it would not have a bleaching effect if somehow, maybe by making bubbles in the water with hydrogen, this was done. Show me the original source. We can also just say he periodically lightened his hair color chemically without specifying exactly how but leaving the article as it is looks dumb.--Jrm2007 (talk) 00:10, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Jrm2007 - the original source is there, it's the footnote. I've checked it three times, because I thought the exact same thing you did. But it clearly says simply hydrogen. There were three other sources (including Life magazine), which also said exactly the same thing. I think that back in the 30s and 40s that Hydrogen Peroxide might have been referred to as simply hydrogen. It "looking dumb" is your opinion, but the citation does not say hydrogen peroxide. Take it easy. Onel5969 TT me 02:47, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Hello onel5969,

Thanks again for your advice. I have updated again. Hopefully I am getting the hang of it now. Regards, Eljumillano.

(FYI I have amended the article as recommended. I hope I have addressed your suggestions appropriately now.)

Thanks for your notes on my article, which you declined. Is the main problem the final paragraph? If so I can simply delete it. I think I should have deleted this before submitting, as this information is not required, and as you mentioned, it does appear a bit like an advert. Regarding the citations point, could you possibly provide an example of how this should be done? I have looked into it, but it seems very complicated to grasp. Perhaps an example would help to clarify. Thanks. Eljumillano. Eljumillano (talk) 18:01, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Eljumillano - There are two issues with the draft. First, it is still very promotional, all the quotes are simply meant to promote the wine. Second, the sources are still not adequate. If there is no on-line link provided to a source, it's very important to be as complete as possible, i.e. author name, page number, etc. Onel5969 TT me 15:29, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

21:10:48, 23 January 2016 review of submission by Atalante88

Dear Onel5969,

Would you mind to tell me if you saw a difference between my Draft: Hanri_Hauser and the one currently display in wiki ? Previously, the previous reviewer request for a deletion of the current article as you could see below and in the view history.

(cur | prev) 18:25, 11 January 2016‎ Robert McClenon (talk | contribs)‎ . . (2,271 bytes) (+413)‎ . . (Nominated for deletion; see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Henri Hauser. (TW)) (undo | thank)

In addition, in the current article there are really some mistakes such as :

it is said that Henri Hauser is an Agrarian.... and it is not true, this was Walter Hauser the Agrarian and not Henri who was both Historian, Geographer and Economist probably writer but certainly not Agrarian...

So you prefer to keep an article with mistakes?

My version represents a huge work with strong references, probably it could require few corrections but you said nothing about the contents, so I believe that you just decline because of the existence of an existing article?

How could it be possible that someone at least could read it ?

Thank you beforehand for your future answer, Atalante88

Hi Atalante88 - The difference is that your draft is better. That's not the issue. The issue is that an article on that subject already exists. Robert McClenon took a shot to get yours inserted and delete the current version. Unfortunately, that chance did not concede as the consensus was that it didn't matter that your version was better, that there was already an article, so it was best for you to simply work on the existing article. I actually see both sides of that discussion. There are articles which I would have loved to have started, but they already existed, so the current article, even though I didn't create it, I've probably written about 80% of what is there. No one is saying that you didn't do good work, you did. But you need to edit the article which currently exists. Hope that explains it. Onel5969 TT me 22:23, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
As I have said at
the Teahouse, there are several ways to address this. I don't think that incremental edits are in order when there already is a better draft. The question is how to replace it. The first would be a straight copy-and-paste. The second would be an RFC, which unfortunately takes 30 days. The third would be one of the three deletion procedures, but this isn't a situation that is normally addressed: mediocre article that wouldn't be deleted in its own right, better draft that still needs work. I have asked for comments at the Teahouse. Robert McClenon (talk

Based on the WP:CREATIVE guideline you mentioned, I have added some more sources to satisfy the requirement mentioned. I believe I have already supplied as per the following: The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums. I have citation from the Chianciano Museum in Italy, when he was selected to exhibit for Biennale 2015. Aside from this, I have cited a critical analysis from International Confederation of Art Critics. The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors. I have citation from a peer - a known Filipino artist/professor Maestro Orobia. or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. I have cited numerous articles and review from art critic. I have reviewed some articles already published in wikipedia. Some of those approved has less citation than him yet you have published it. One example is that of his peer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJ_Ta%C3%B1edo A1unlimited (talk) 05:58, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, John Vere Hopgood is is my first submission and I'm doing this on behalf of a family member who has just written a book compiled from a family archive of letters and other materials. However I'm finding most reviewers leave a generic message message that is not very helpful :-( I have looked at several pages to ascertain what this generic message means in context of what I written and made quite a few alterations to try to comply (most recently today), obviously trying to keep the gist of the original text provided by the family member. I think it would help me a lot to point to (underline??) text that offends - I think I understand why this isn't general policy but in my case it would definitely assist. I am very keen to get this accepted and move on :-) Many thanks, Clc136a (talk) 18:17, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Clc136a - it's not a question of offending text. Just state facts, stay away from commentary like "Hopgood then coaxed his plane", "easing the way", "An engine caught fire on his Lancaster AJ-M and it would have been difficult to control the aircraft.", "easing the way for the following Lancasters", and there are quite a few others. Just tell the story. Leave out the perspective. Onel5969 TT me 02:25, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

William T. Kerley RMS TITANIC victim

Hello,

I would like to ask you a question about why you declined this- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:William_T._Kerley_RMS_TITANIC_victim Yes, this is about a relative of mine so it's VERY personal to me. But the message I received told me to have something about more extensive research. A lot of my information *does* come Encyclopedia Titanica.com because they are the premiere source for information about anything RMS TITANIC related. They have any & all newspapers articles ever printed about each victim & survivor from the RMS TITANIC. They have all the minutes recorded from the RMS TITANIC Relief Fund. In spite of this, I *did* have other sources that I cited that didn't include information from Encyclopedia Titanica.com. I searched everywhere I could think of. I'm in America, not in England, so I don't have the luxury of being able to go to the parish where he lived to physically look through the parish records & find his actual birth date & other such information. I do believe I did the best I could do from where I am.

The sinking of the RMS TITANIC is still spoken of today & is considered one of the greatest tragedies in history. In fact, I watched a new special about it the night I submitted this. I strongly believe EVERY person on the ship deserves to have their story told, not just the rich & powerful like J.J. Astor, Benjamin Guggenheim & Molly Brown. EVERYONE on board came from a family, had a mother, father, siblings. EVERYONE was loved by someone. Its been a 104 years since the sinking. I think it will only benefit history to know a more about the people on the ship like the crew who were lost. My cousin Janna married into a family that lost 2 relatives on the ship. I will happily do more research. But I thought you would like to know my position on this matter. I'm a Kerley & I was proud of it even before we learned about W.T. Kerley. If there is anything you would like to suggest I do, please do so. I will happily welcome suggestions. I'm a writer. But please be aware that I searched EVERYWHERE for a picture & his birthday along with more facts.

Thank you!

Krista L. Kerley

Keepcalm&write The article still seems questionably notable. First, remove the second list of links and also add any further available in-depth third-party sources overall to enhance the amount of links. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 07:03, 25 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi
WP:CITEKILL
. Choose the best one or two cites for any given assertion, and get rid of the rest. I'd also get rid of pics which included recent people, but that's just me. Also, it's preferred if an article is in prose form, rather than in an almost bulltpoint presention like this article, breaking the recent decades down. Just leave it as "Later management changes and expansion", with one or two paragraphs. Finally, look at how I formatted that section heading - that's how they should be formatted. Hope this helps.
Hello again Onel5969, I think that the awards section is justified as they are significant industry awards, in a similar manner that you wouldn't exclude Academy awards from an actors page. Also the change of the directors is vital to the Jennings Story and the director section is extremely concise and highlights the charitable work that the company does which has led to the awards. Having attempted to write the Later management changes section in prose, alongside the original reviewer, it was decided that in order to keep the article concise that it was better changed to the current format. It was longer and more confusing as prose. As far as citation goes - I'll happily cut it down. Please take a second look at my talk page so that you can see the discussions that I've already had about this and the confirmation from the original reviewer about how best to proceed.

I'm aware of the imperative to use secondary sources, and I know that this argument falls under the subjective

other stuff exists, but there are indeed other, similar articles, such as Vincent Racaniello and Dickson Despommier, whose content is sourced predominantly, if not entirely, by publications associated with the subject. In those cases, as with David Knipe, the sources cited come from peer-reviewed and community-recognized journals, so I'm at a loss for understanding why this article is insufficiently sourced. 21:15:08, 25 January 2016 review of submission by Jeanmichel.sellier

Hello,

My name is Jean Michel Sellier and I am a mathematical physicist and the developer and maintainer of several GNU packages.

One of my GNU packages is named Archimedes and has a page on Wikipedia. I think having a page on Wikipedia is important as it allows other people to see what is being developed in the community, much faster than the way it happens by means of scientific journals. Actually, this visibility help society to access knowledge which, eventually, brings to progress. Nowadays, thanks to websites like Wikipedia, I have literally thousands of students, researchers, etc, using my code to make the world a better place.

Now, a few years ago I came up with a new GNU package named nano-archimedes (which is released under GPL on the corresponding GNU webpage). This software is a simulator for quantum systems. As you might know, quantum mechanics is the theory which makes possible things like electronics, drug design, chemistry, etc, i.e. EXTREMELY important things which ultimately help human kind to have a better life. Therefore, it is easy to understand that it is a theory of PARAMOUNT importance. Sharing knowledge on theories like this one, with the rest of the world, literally helps entire communities and speed up progress all around the world.

During the development of this new software, I came up with the development of a new formulation of quantum mechanics which was published on the Journal of Computational Physics several months ago. This theory has shown to be drastically better, from a computational perspective, than ANY other formulation known so far. As a matter of fact, my simulator is able to run incredibly complex simulations on a reduced amount of resources. This fact has even been presented at Linuxcon 2015 in Dublin with great interest from the programmers/scientists community.

Now, I personally think that it is EXTREMELY important to share this formulation with as much people as possible. This is going to speed up the development of new computational paradigms like quantum computing, etc. This is why I have been trying (for quite a while now) to share this knowledge with other people on Wikipedia. The problem is that I always have been rejected for VERY strange reasons which I don't understand. The last one says that my article is not original. With all the respect I have for Wikipedia and the reviewers who spend their personal time, how is it possible that this article is not original? This is my theory which I personally published on a respected scientific journal with impact factor..

I suppose there must be some kind of misunderstanding happening here which I really would like to fix. I want to support science and society by sharing my knowledge and results on Wikipedia for the reasons described above. I think this would be a VERY good thing. I am not looking for personal glory or amything like that. So, my question is: could someone explain me how to make this article published on Wikipedia? What am I doing wrong?

I thank you VERY MUCH in advance for your answer!

I respectfully disagree with your reason for declining

Hi Robert McClenon - First off, sorry about the tempest in the teacup that you attempting to help that new editor caused with the Henri Hauser article. Regarding this issue, since you posted on the Teahouse, I'll respond there. Suffice it to say, I see your point, but I felt that "Do not base an entire article on primary sources, and be cautious about basing large passages on them" was very prevalent in this instance, since all but one of the sources in the article is primary. Fife Contemporary Art & Craft improvements

Hi Onel5969, I've been working on the page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Fife_Contemporary_Art_%26_Craft and I have added as many citations as I can find at the moment, so there is quite a bit more than when it was declined. More recently got some advice on the TeaHouse page about citations so have neatened them up. I am keen to see what you think about it now. It's been in the queue to be re-reviewed for a while now. If there's more I can do to improve it I would like to do it. thanks Loolah (talk) 21:17, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Loolah - It does look better. I'm still concerned that the citations are not truly in-depth coverage about the organization, but are more about the organization's projects, and only mention them tangentially. Those are good for verifying the underlying facts of the article, but not for establishing notability. But you've resubmitted it, so let's let another editor take a swing at it. My guess is that other folks are also on the fence about evaluating it, and that's why someone hasn't yet. Onel5969 TT me 18:47, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Thanks Onel5969, I added a paragraph at the end about the organisation's official arts council (Creative Scotland) support and a couple of other citations. I could write more if you thought this wound be useful for the reviewers? but have kept it concise as I want it to be basic, factual and minimise concerns over content. It's a good point about the project news links - this organisation, even more than other arts orgs - lives in public through its projects as it doesn't have a fixed venue. I've tried to also look at other similar orgs for tips but often they have also struggled to get commentary about the actual organisation rather than their projects (I am guessing this as often citations are to their own website or news stories around the launch of projects). This other Scottish arts org is sort of similar because it is also itinerant: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATLAS_Arts and this is the physically nearest other visual arts org: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dundee_Contemporary_Arts are there things from their pages which would be good for me to adopt? thanks again Loolah (talk) 00:38, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

You reviewed the page Si Ri Panya School Koh Phangan (it is a primary and secondary key stage 1 to 3) yesterday and found that it is not notable.

Thank you for your feedback and I have since made a few changes to the references.

reference 3 and 4 are sourced from real estate businesses, they are both unrelated to the school and independent and they are not merely repeating information provided by the school's administration. They are discussing the changes taking place on the island and the growing population and mention the school as evidence of this -saying...

reference 2 = "More and more western foreigners (farangs) - including young couples and families - are moving to Koh Phangan for a few years. The trend is clearly illustrated by the number of foreign students that increases every year at Si Ri Panya School"

reference 3 = Whereas once there were only a small number of children being schooled in Koh Phangan, there is a growing community of international families resident on the island. Si Panya school is an international school for children from ages 5-13. The school is soon moving to a purpose built school which is on bigger premises to accommodate the quickly expanding student numbers. For the first year ever, Si Panya will be offering a year 7 class (the equivalent of secondary school in the UK).

Reference 5 and 9 are from our local "newspapers" both are independent and reliable there editors value fact-checking and accuracy and are not in any way related to the school

reference 5 is from 'Koh Phangan Island News' is an independent local news site that again speak about the big difference having an international school will make to life on the island and the current state of education here.

reference 9 = from "Koh Phangan Information" again an independent local news site that is actually rather negative about the school, it is a lengthy comprehensive article that talks about education and literacy rates in Thailand as a whole and the education choices on the island, and how up until now many wealthy Thais have chosen to send their children off the island to be educated, and how the availability of the international school has made a notable difference to the islanders way of life.

There are now 10 references, some more notable than others ;) but I am hoping this article may now be allowed. 10 independent sources may not sound like a lot but for a small island of 125km/sq in the middle of nowhere with a total population of just 13,200 people it is significant media coverage, in fact we have been written about by every local news source on the island and being written abut by "Bangkok Post" for example is not at all likely.

on the wiki article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28high_schools%29 it mentions how hard it can be for schools in Asia to find reliable internet sources - we are a small island within Asia and this seems to be exactly the problme I am encountering, we are very notable and worthy of inclusion in an encyclopedia but it is all local coverage.

"In major developed countries, many independent, reliable sources about schools can be found on the Internet, beyond the scope of the trivial. However, outside those countries, and particularly for countries in Asia and Africa, Internet coverage is poor. Where this is the case then, to avoid systemic bias, local sources should be sought."

Could I ask for your advice how to proceed so we can get the article included in wikipedia and part of the encyclopedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarah white 1 (talkcontribs) 08:32, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

You reversed an edit from IP 64.134.146.47. That is a McDonalds--I work there from time to time, so I got the message. You probably want to ban that IP if you can from unregistered edits. I don't edit much, so I don't know how to do it, and likely don't have the permissions. Polscicontrib (talk) 19:04, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

First Fleet contribution

Thank you for your contribution to the historical record of Australia. I note you were born in New York; do you have some research knowledge of the topic in question?

The section I have deleted (and will continue to delete) provides evidence that smallpox killed aboriginals (which is not disputed), but then implies that this was premeditated policy, for which there is no evidence whatever.

The article is about a fleet of ships and the people on them. It isn't about the invasion of Australia or other matters related. Consequently, there is no place in this article for the section.

The people who are edit warring are those, like yourself, who keep putting the content back up and perpetuating the 'black-armband view of history' promoted by those with a political agenda to make these ridiculous claims. If Wikipedia silences me (due to the allegation of edit warring) regarding the take down of this content, it will confirm Wikipedia's reputation that it is not a scholarly resource but merely a blog post site.

If you review the page history carefully, you will see that the original two-line entry regarding smallpox was benign and that it has escalated since to have more content that the rest of the article. If you truly want to help, move the content to a new page.Outback1964 (talk) 21:21, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Outback1964 - And if you would truly like to help, learn the guidelines and rules of Wikipedia. I really don't care about that article. I care that you are ignoring consensus building, and choosing to simply edit war. There's no allegation of edit-warring. You are edit warring. Your tone, and your actions have depleted any sympathy I have for your position, and any desire I might have had to spend any time on researching to see if you have a valid point. Do not post on my page again, for I do not have time to waste. Onel5969 TT me 21:40, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for listening me. I do not know what to say.I am happy that you finally understand me.I want to contribute to Wikipedia. talk 85.72.212.188 18:50, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi 85.72.212.188 - No problem. Two things, have you thought about creating a user account? If you're going to create articles, it would probably be a good thing. And I think you'd be an asset to the project. Second thing, stay calm and patient. We're all volunteers here, so sometimes we may not answer, or act, as quickly as you'd like. I still think you're articles need more sourcing (as do the other Saturn articles), so hopefully within the next month or so, I'll get around to improving them. But feel free to beat me to the punch! . And don't be afraid to ask questions, most of us here are willing to help. Onel5969 TT me 00:55, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Request on 23:32:48, 28 January 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Christopher.rayalexander

Hey, there! I just saw my submission was declined citing a lack of notability and insufficient sourcing. My subject seems to match all of the notability criteria (he is a well-respected and oft-published scholar and author), and the sources I referenced are hosted on Academic Websites, so I'm a little confused. Could you provide me with greater specifics or advice as to how to make the article pass review standards? Thank you kindly for your time and consideration!

Query

Hi there,

Thank you for reviewing Gopala Davies (Actor), Link below: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Gopala_Davies_(Actor)

I would like to query what is different from this page in comparison to another actor who has an existing page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Dennis_(actor)

Thank you for your time :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.66.153.100 (talk) 06:21, 29 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi
other stuff exists. Just because there is another article about a subject similar to yours which is either crappy or poorly sourced, has no bearing on the viability of your article. Onel5969 TT me

I would like your insight on why this article was refused. I would like to make appropriate edits.

Thank you.

Miriam

Hi Miriamceoverton - There's nothing in the article's current references to show her notability. She's certainly an accomplished pianist, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's notable. You'll need about 3 in-depth articles from independent sources about her to show notability. If she's been affiliated with a group/organization, that mean's it's not independent (e.g. Steinway, any of the orchestras, university's, etc.). Hope this helps. Americans for Prosperity

You reverted my edit, https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Americans_for_Prosperity&oldid=prev&diff=701756524 because the link is dead? The link works for me. Am I formatting it incorrectly?

The reason for my edit was to quote the pledge from the original source rather than paraphrasing it (inaccurately, I think) from a secondary source.Fitzaubrey (talk) 00:31, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi Fitzaubrey - absolutely, as I stated in the edit summary. I also prefer the prior wording, but that would simply be my preference, and I would discuss that with you, rather than reverting. The fact you inserted a quote, but didn't have an accurate link to that quote, that needed to be corrected. Especially in an article which has had a somewhat contentious edit history. Take it easy. Onel5969 TT me 15:34, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

One more try. The link works, now -- at least for me. Fitzaubrey (talk) 00:52, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

As a scientist how do you get more "notable" than being featured on a prime time TV show about science. being introduced as a leader in a particular field of research?

Commented at draft. SwisterTwister talk 06:52, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
Hi
WP:SCHOLAR. That will give you an insight as to what constitutes notability. This person may indeed be notable, but the current references don't show it. Looking at him on Scholar, his citation count would seem to indicate his notability. I see that {{u|SwisterTwister} has invoked the name of {{u|DGG} on the draft to take a look, and he's much more adept at academic articles, so I'll leave it in his hands. Take it easy. Onel5969 TT me

Article on
Draft:Ruben Zimmermann

Hi, you declined my draft of the article on Ruben Zimmermann. You missed reliable sources. The various books published with different publishers appearently do not serve as independent sources? Or do you need the ISBN to verify these publications?

I would be happy for any more concrete help and advice.

Thanks and regards Humanist88
