Women in politics
Please note that women are not added directly to Category:Women in politics; that's an international category that would contain tens of thousands of women from all over the world (and thus be virtually unusable) if it were actually being used that way. Rather, each country has its own country-specific subcategory (e.g. Category:American women in politics) and each US state has its own state-specific one (e.g. Category:Women in Kentucky politics) — so each individual woman goes only in the most specifically appropriate subcategory and not in the undifferentiated worldwide one. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 23:14, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

US Banknote Contest | ![]() |
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions |

Help with Mary Jane Warfield!
Hi there! I couldn't help but notice you created the page on the wonderful Elizabeth Fouse! I am also very passionate about women's history in Kentucky and I am trying to publish an article about Mary Jane Warfield Clay (she was an early suffragist and oversaw the construction of White Hall while her husband Cassius Clay remained in Russia). She also has a chapter in my favorite book, Kentucky Women: Their Lives and Times. I was wondering if you could help with the article so it has a better chance of being published this time around (it was rejected at first). Thank you so much for your contributions!

I'm reaching out because of your mention on the article's talk page. In its current state, the article could really use some credible citations. I've done some work pruning the article for some unencyclopedic descriptions, but it would be great to add citations to this article since it is a fundamental part of the last public execution in the USA. I'd be happy to do the work if you have any insight, or if you'd like to add citations yourself that'd be great too! I'm asking primarily because you're more likely to have knowledge of sources I don't :) --Marx01 Tell me about it 09:18, 25 June 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your fantastic and quick response! Apologies if it seemed on the spot; it's just such a fascinating article and historical moment. Been seeing your additions and absolutely applaud them :) --Marx01 Tell me about it 04:55, 30 June 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks for joining, Randolph, and welcome to the project. Gender and ethnicity are of course areas we are deeply interested in. If you have any ideas for further work on these, you should bring them up for discussion on our WiR talk page. If you haven't already done so, you might find it useful to look through our Primer for creating women's biographies. As many of your articles have been about women involved in women's rights issues, you might well be interested in contributing to our focus on the topic throughout the year. H-Net
Hi Randolph, just a heads-up that I had to roll back the H-Net article to a 2019 version, due to large, POV edits by someone employed by the organization. Unfortunately, this resulted in several edits of yours from a year ago being removed at the same time. I'm sorry about that, and if you want to reinstate them, I'll work with you on that. Let me know. Cheers, Mathglot (talk) 06:24, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for alerting me. I'll take a look and see what is needed (or not) and let you know. @Mathglot: Wow! That's a big cut-back. Yes, I'd like to put back my list of the networks and hubs, but if there's a more efficient way to design it than what I had originally, I'd really like to have your help in doing so.

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
![](http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/20/Wikimedia-Meetup-GoldenBay-Mohua-v2_05.jpg/400px-Wikimedia-Meetup-GoldenBay-Mohua-v2_05.jpg)
Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
