Hi @

Styyx:! Please, don't revert this page. The section of the table is still on the work (and isn't easy, by the way). Also, the information is already on the pages of Bulgarian wiki (which has an impressive amount of pages related to German nobility). I'm translating and compiling the info on the table. The sources cited there are also at the end of the page. I don't see a problem or why do you say it is unsourced. Should it have more footnotes? Please, explain yourself. DYK for Geliyoo

On 6 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Geliyoo, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the search engine of Geliyoo was found to be retrieving its results from Google, in contrast to the company's claims of spending 10 million Turkish liras on development? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Geliyoo. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Geliyoo), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. About edits you made to Turkish Airlines fleet

Hi,

self-published
and too closely associated with the subject, which can also be argued as not reliable.

Planespotters.net is widely used as the main source of an airline's fleet data on Wikipedia, including on

All Nippon Airways fleet, Emirates fleet, British Airways fleet
, and many more. So I think it's fair to say it's an accepted source of reasonably reliable data, especially when combined with the airline's own published fleet data and, if available, national registry databases. Having data from Turkey's national registry would be ideal, but I don't have such access.

In the case of Turkish Airlines, the main problem I have with using its own published data is that it encompasses that of its sub-brand

AnadoluJet fleet
of 52 Boeing 737-800 is also listed separately on its own Wikipedia page. This is misleading as it appears Turkish Airlines, along with AnadoluJet, has a combined fleet of 144 Boeing 737-800, which is false. Turkish has 40 and AnadoluJet has 52. They have a combined 92. The A320neo fleet has the same problem. Turkish Airlines does not operate any A320neo directly; AnadoluJet does. But you added A320neo to Turkish's fleet based on the combined fleet data on investor.turkishairlines.com.

To be consistent, I believe you need to either separate the fleet into two, which was what I did and believe to be the preferred method, OR combine them under Turkish Airlines, specify a portion of the fleet operates under the AnadoluJet's brand, and delete/redirect the fleet section on

AnadoluJet's Wikipedia page. Otherwise, the information on Turkish Airlines fleet is simply wrong. The problem with the latter is I don't believe there's a precedent for doing so. For example, Scoot's fleet is not combined with its parent Singapore Airlines's fleet
. But, of course, they are not the same as Scoot is a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, while AnadoluJet is a brand (not a company) of Turkish Airlines.

Either way, I believe the current Turkish Airlines fleet page needs to be updated one way or another to be accurate. What do you think? Johnnycorns5354 (talk) 08:49, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
~StyyxTalk? 10:47, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply
]
Hi,
AnadoluJet
's to avoid any confusion. Because as I said, now it appears Turkish Airlines has 92 Boeing 737-800 and AnadoluJet has 52, for a combined 144, which is false.
And speaking of good articles, I noticed all of the articles I mentioned are list-class articles as it is the norm for Wikipedia pages about an airline's fleet. The Emirates fleet article, for example, is a list-class article with three main sections: current fleet, historical fleet, and fleet development. This is very much comparable to the Turkish Airlines fleet article in question. Therefore, it might be more appropriate to reclassify it as list-class. Would you agree? Is there a precedent for classifying an airline's fleet article as anything other than list-class? Johnnycorns5354 (talk) 11:55, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

License for uploading press photos from 1996

I'm going to ask 2 questions, the first one is complicated so I'll ask it separately.

I'm looking for a proper

. This group of photos is part of the "secret diplomacy" of a Taiwanese government plane secretly going to Kyiv, Ukraine in April 1996. These are a bit important and I need to say it first in order to research if there has a correct license.

The photo is attached to the pay-per-view website of the United Daily News. I speculate that this should not be likely with non-US works from 1996, but I don't know if Taiwan is a signatory region of the Uruguay Round Agreement. Note that Taiwan is generally not recognized as a sovereign state by international organizations. So it shouldn't be possible to use protocols published before 1996?

Then I plan to change it to fair use and upload it to the English Wikipedia. This set of photos is treated as historical photos, and it is theoretically impossible to find photos of the same period. My assumption is that since it's secret diplomacy, there won't be much news coverage in the media. This is within the scope of fair use, so what license agreement do I need to use?

A long list of questions. Say it if you know it. I have a second question to ask later.

Talk 13:45, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply

Hi,
I came here after Styyx asked for help on
WP:DISCORD
. First off, thanks for working on this article - I think a lot of diplomatic articles are underedited or become a hub for promotional/non-POV/poorly written content.
Getting to your question: I think the best way would be to mention the existence of a Taiwanese consulate/diplomatic mission in Lithuania. (I am a bit confused, however; isn't the Taiwanese Representative Office in Latvia a de-facto embassy?) Like this:
After the establishment of a Taiwanese consulate/diplomatic mission/representative mission/de-facto embassy in Latvia, (whatever verbiage you think is best) the Chinese government expressed their alarm about a potential "Latvian model" (you could also use "Latvian precedent) and received an immediate promise from the Ukrainian diplomatic unit that there would not be a similar situation there.
MSG17 (talk) 14:45, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see that you are talking about the consulate established in 1992, which acted officially despite Taiwan and Latvia not having recognized diplomatic relations. Sorry, I was mistaken. Yes, use "consulate". MSG17 (talk) 15:07, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Go on. I try to catch the clue. However, what I focused on the Consulate of Taiwan in 1992 in the article. My impression is that the consular relationship seems to imply that Latvia recognizes Taiwan as a sovereign state. Here I would like to make it simple and let that sentence imply that the Latvian model occurred earlier, resulting in Chinese follow-up and Ukraine's promise not to have a consulate.--
Talk 16:09, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply

Also, here. 拉脫維亞模式 is a term using on the two sources of the article. I consider it should be translated as "Latvian mode" or "Latvian model".--

This is a bit odd.

Hi Styyx, when I was looking back over the history of a draft (Draft:Sweta_Rai), I saw this simulated AfC note, posted by its draft creator with your signature. Presumably they simply copied the comment from this AfC decline of Draft:Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile by yourself and changed the words, and they did fix the signature in their next edit, so no actual attempt to pretend to be you. However, your comment also mentioned possible socking by the creator of Draft:Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile, and there are some close similarities between that user and the user who copied your note to Draft:Sweta Rai. Reverting your wrong removal of content and manual of style ignorance is not "ownership of an article".

As per our guidelines, Anadolujet has its own main article and therefore the fleets are not to merged but listed separately. This is the case with all airline subsidiaries, the state of the AOC is not relevant for this. This has been maintained for several years (including Turkish Airlines until your recent edits) and there’s no reason why your article should be an exception - hence claiming ownership. It's... not a subsidiary. It is a part of Turkish Airlines. It's the same company.

OK so we are not coming out of this together. I'll open a discussion on the Aviation WikiProject and ask for the article to be protected in the mean time.

As I stated this is not about corporate structure. Anadolujet has an independent article on this Wiki and this is why the fleet charts are not allowed to be merged. We split them like this ages ago. Additionally Anadolujet is about to receive an independent AOC which makes this discussion obsolete.

The rule about the independent article still applies. Unless Anadolujet does no longer have its own main article their fleet cannot be integrated into TKs chart. It can be discussed if this should be changed - and it hasn’t in the last 10 years I’m on here - but you cannot change it at will for an article that you are the primary contributor for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:A61:3AED:1301:D983:EEA9:4295:9ABC (talk) 20:46, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Waterlooplein metro station

On 3 December 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Waterlooplein metro station, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a 1975 "open tube" event (pictured) at Waterlooplein station gave the citizens of Amsterdam their first look at the city's metro system? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Waterlooplein metro station. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Waterlooplein metro station), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

COI vs DRAFTOBJECT

Hello Styyx.

I just saw your draftification.

I wrote a fair bit of DRAFTIFY including DRAFTIBJECT. It was not meant to conflict with

WP:COI
where there is COI.

What if the author denies having a COI. Should it go to AfD? If the author has a COI, then their mainspace move and all mainspace edits are not allowed. I agree. SmokeyJoe (talk) 13:11, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi SmokeyJoe. My understanding of DRAFTOBJECT is that an article can only be draftified once and once only, since it doesn't say anything like "with the exception of...." and explicitly states that the author is also allowed to object, even though I really think that COI is an exception. I remember having a few other cases like this last summer when I was still an active NPP/AfC reviewer here, though I don't think I can dig them back up.
When an author denies COI and there are no other "suspicious" things then we should probably AGF and send it to AfD. In this case though, I haven't seen the author confirm or deny anything (correct me if I'm wrong though), so that mostly leaves it up to judgement. I sent this one back due to possible sockpuppetry/block evasion concerns; see my talk archive. I think this is a blocked UPE continuing their work. I was actually writing up an SPI when you messaged me.

I made this edit, which removes the apparent conflict. I am not sure what should happen if the COI is denied. AfD? I’d say wait to see some examples before trying to document good practices. SmokeyJoe (talk) 08:08, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Saw some great work has gone into this article, but I'm not sure it's quite at GA yet. Just thought I'd ping you here SerAntoniDeMiloni (talk) 21:16, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
