The Yeni Mosque (
crypto-Jewish converts to Islam. However, when the Donmeh left the city during the population exchange between Greece and Turkey, it was used to house the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki in 1925.[1]
Today it serves as an exhibition center.
In April 2024, for the first time after 102 years, the mosque opened for the Muslim population of the city on the occasion of the Ramazan Bayram.[2]
