The term, "

socialist" is a word which conveys very different meanings; it shouldn't be used as a label without appropriate qualifiers.Fconaway 22:04, 9 February 2007 (UTC)[reply

Encyclopaedic Work

Cole was a major contributor to and advisory editor of Chambers's Encyclopaedia (1959 edition), which my parents bought and I still possess. (That's where I first learned of his existence: the signature GDHC was so common I looked him up!) Sasha (talk) 23:55, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Double firsts (plural?)

Article states "Cole was educated at St Paul's School and Balliol College, Oxford where he achieved double firsts"

The plural seems wrong to me unless this is meant to imply Cole won some sort of 'First' at school at St. Paul's, or some higher degree.

If he won firsts in Honour Moderations and then Finals for his BA in PPE , then surely the normal convention would be to describe this achievement as a double first in the singular?

Could the author of this section clarify?

References

I'm confused with the reference listing on the article, it's not the same when I edit, and in the article itself I can't find some particular references but only found in the list (i.e. the second ref of Russel). AGF (talk) 08:44, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
