Hi

Does anyone else think we should hang a notice up that calls attention to the shit that's in here? I'm not calling into question the integrity or the intentions of the persons making the edits but could we get someone who has time on their hands to go through this article with a finetoothcomb just to make it readable? Nakohifi (talk) 14:54, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone else find the "end of term" section barely readable? It sounds like a bad web translation job, but I don't know enough about Khaleda Zia to be sure that edits I make will be accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.172.172.105 (talk) 19:32, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is no mention of the 2002 riots when thousands of Hindus were massacred by BNP supporters. There is also No mention of her fervour support to Islamic Partires and Terrorist organisations That are being aided by her government. The article is very factual but biased with no mention of her Pro-Islamic stance. The preceding

Where have you got this 'thousands of hindus were killed' lunacy? This is an encyplopedia, not the courtyard of a lunatic asylum where you could show your mental sickness prowess. Go and see a good doctor and think twice before trying your hand at pages like this. Kazimostak 16:44, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please add factual non POV content here. If you have ample references and links to support any item, you can add that, but adding unprovable assumptions without substantiation is not a good thing. --Ragib 04:06, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Education

I added information on Khaleda Zia's education, as taken from Prime Minister's office, Govt. of Bangladesh website link. Quoting that:

She had her education at Dinajpur Government Girls High School and Surendranath College.

Thanks. --Ragib 23:13, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed the following comment from 198.31.97.254 from the article body - "This information here is hard to verify and most probably not true. Her matriculation transcript shows that out of nine subjects, she failed in five and barely passed in four."
If anyone have any additional information regarding educational status of Khaleda Zia - please write with proper reference.-Arman Aziz 03:47, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about the new CTG?

No mention of the Jan 11 govt! Why not mention that Iazuddin resigned from the CTG on Jan 11, under 'invisible' pressure (although the reasons he gave were the 22 Jan election going to be a charade, the country heading for a conflict, etc.)? And then, this new CTG has declared their war against graft and targeted big fshes. —The preceding

Minus 2 Formula

Whoever is repeatedly adding the statement about Minus two formula in the intro part, please note: "Recently she has been subject to

Minus 2 Formula
" - is not an encyclopedic statement, nor does it belong to the introduction of this article even if it is corret.

Minus 2 Formula has been added in the "See also" section. If you think necessary, feel free to add a more refined sentence in the main body; but please do not mess with the reasonabley well written introduction paragraph.-Arman Aziz 01:08, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Date of birth?

If there is too much controversy (as it is) about her date of birth then it is wiser to mention that there are controversies about her birth date as there are number of date provided as her birth date in multiple official references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.250.52.155 (talk) 09:20, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are two edits of her date of birth being added, the original one 15 August 1945 and the second one 09 September 1946. If there are sources available to both of these date of births, please discuss it here and decide which one is the correct one. Thanks.

The actual date is a bit vague ... the official sources used to provide the 2nd one, till the subject started to provide the first one as her date of birth. So, we can't say for sure. There are sources available for both, and we can't decide here in WP which one is correct. Better to mention both with appropriate references. --Ragib (talk) 19:34, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is a bit ridiculous that there is no record of her actual date of birth, how can one forget or change their date of birth? Plus both dob's have the day, month and year. Britannica[1] and Banglapedia[2] show here date of birth is - 15 August, 1945.
Mohsin 14:34, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply

Well, there are multiple reports which mention the September 5 birth date (and refers to her Education board documented birth date). There is also yet another birthdate , August 19, which allegedly was included in her official biography during her first term (1991-1996). [3]. --Ragib (talk) 20:07, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh here we go the long list continues :) Wonder which one is the reliable one? Just read it, the 08/15 is the day of mourning for her, plus her birthday, and she claims it is September 5th, if she is claiming that in person rather than other boards etc. then it should be the second one then. Not really sure about August the 19th? Well Bangladesh ain't always perfect in keeping records. I think then there should be a section about her Date of Birth controversy then.

I have changed it back to official 15th august. But I think it is better to add a birthdate controversary section in the end? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.121.188.153 (talk) 22:25, 14 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If she was born in 1945, or even 1946, why does this article say that "In 1960, she married Ziaur Rahman, at the age of 21"? If she was born in 1945, then in 1960, she'd be 15.
Also, why if she was born either in 1945 or 1946 does the information table on the right side list her birth date as "9 August 1939 (age 71)"? That's 6 and 7 years earlier! 71.0.81.133 (talk) 00:08, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism?

I don't know anything about this lady, but this looks like vandalism to me. Could someone who knows check it out please? SamuelTheGhost (talk) 16:48, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If it's the rape you're talking about, it is a well-circulated rumour, although the rumour states that her other son Arafat Rahman Coco is a warchild, which "explains" why his mom didn't put him forward in the political scene.

vandalism?? part 2

The below quote reads wrong. It might be trying to say that her actual date of birth is unknown and that she chose this one or I could see this as vandalism. Either way, I'm not sure enough to actually make a change in the text.

"(This Birthdate made by herself in last few years, There is no actual birth date exist for this woman)"

It is not fact which one real Birthday, we should consider that in which day she celebrate her birthday. we are well known that she celebrate her birthday on 15,August. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Msfz (talkcontribs) 20:44, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

talk
) 18:11, 17 April 2011 (UTC) Excuse me, but i dont accord of your comments. It is mot the question of celebration, rather than of her documents tells us other. Meanwhile, she had been celebrating of birthday since after 1996. So there is a question mark. You should consider about this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.74.209.125 (talk) 09:03, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism 3:The Reckoning?

Something tells me that this line is incorrect, firstly Charlie Harper was written out of the show last year and also the season ended in May 2012 therefore no episodes in June, other than the fact that it just sounds ridiculous.

In June 2012, she was a guest star in the last episode of 'Two and a Half Men'. She played the part of Motashota Padmara, who was a favourite hook-up lady of Charlie Harper.

Needs more sources

The lack of sources creates an overly positive view of her leadership in government. Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia notes that from 2003, there were rising strikes, protests and violence in the country. The military-backed caretaker government postponed the scheduled 2007 election while pursuing corruption charges against both parties. In 2007 it charged Zia and some of her family members with corruption, and kept her isolated from politics for most of a year. Why isn't any of that in the Lead? Have not done enough research yet about her earlier governments, but problems as well as achievements have to be noted for NPOV.Parkwells (talk) 15:19, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Post Third Term and Caretaker government

These sections need clean-up; the first part is especially difficult to follow and needs RS.Parkwells (talk) 15:36, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Too much detail and speculation

The crisis at post-third term and establishment of military takeover of caretaker government probably need a separate article - too much space is given to it here for a bio of Zia, causing UNDUE WEIGHT. Also, the language is this section is speculative and biased. Needs thorough editing to establish more neutral tone (i.e., "betrayed by military" is questionable, unless from RS and should be quoted, if so.) Parkwells (talk) 16:06, 23 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdates again

If the subject's birthdate cannot be reliably ascertained (as I note from this article), maybe the best compromise is to use a c. tag. That's what we do in just about every other article where the specific birthdate is not known. What I am proposing would look like this:

Begum Khaleda Zia (Bengali: খালেদা জিয়া; born c. September—August 1945...

We would provide appropriate sources to explain the discrepancy. Thoughts? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:48, 4 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Assassination attempt

In this edit I removed good-faith content submitted by Pajagonde. The user is describing this event as an assassination attempt, yet the article states: "Fazle Elahi Akbar, a retired general who heads the BNP chief's private security team, said shots were fired at Zia's bullet-proofed car while she was inside but stopped short of calling it an assassination attempt." So if the security guy doesn't call it an assassination attempt, why would we? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:10, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Surname

@Cyphoidbomb: Usually her husband Ziaur Rahman is popularly known as only "Zia". Everyone thinks about him when said "Zia". We should use Khaleda or Khaleda Zia in this article. - Mar11 (talk) 19:41, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Mar11, I appreciate your note, but we wouldn't refer to Ziaur Rahman as "Zia" in the article, we would refer to him as Rahman. A little common sense is required of our readers to be able to interpret academic prose and to distinguish the article's subject from someone else's nickname. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:46, 7 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyphoidbomb: Good logic. Readers should have the common sense. Thanks - Mar11 (talk) 14:33, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replace this date

1945- 15 August but there is a mistake Md. Morshed5379 (talk) 15:41, 14 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Md. Morshed5379 - Generally speaking, when you make a request for other editors to make a change to an article, explaining how it's a mistake, what the correct information should be, and then providing references from reliable mainstream sources is usually the most helpful approach. That said, please see the "Birthday controversy" section in the article, which explains the discrepancy. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:53, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Birthdate revisted

With regard to Md. Morshed's concerns above, another option might be to print the year of birth if that's not disputed via the {{Birth year and age}} template, then point editors to the relevant section on the matter. For example, something along the lines of "1945 (age 78–79) (reports vary, see Birthday controversy)". Zsa Zsa Gabor is a minor example of how we could report an age discrepancy. Thoughts?
