Claims that Ayres worked for MI5 around the web have all the appearance of being an urban myth created by this article. Ayres was interviewed on

Given the secretive nature of that organisation, I wonder how we would "prove" that she had worked for MI5, whether as a "lowly clerk" or anything else. She doesn't appear to deny it. I don't know what makes you so suspicious, thousands of people work for such organisations and it doesn't make her James Bond! I doubt it's just an urban myth, but if so it's not one "created by this article". The idea that she worked for one of the security services (I wouldn't want to specify which and it's not that important which) is nothing new, and predates Wikipedia I think. Philip Cross's comment above appears to confirm it in some sense, so it's more than "doesn't deny it", but as I say, I think it would be impossible to prove, if one of those people comes along demanding watertight citations. The article claims that Pam was born Stan, and has had a reassignment operation. But it also mentions her children. Something's got to be wrong here, but what?
