The Portuguese Socialist Party (PSP) existed from the late 19th century to 1931 (the Estado Novo outlawed it). The current party is only called Partido Socialista (PS) because it is unrelated to the other PSP and between the creation of the PSP and the creation of the current PS, a Public Safety Police (Polícia de Segurança Pública, PSP) had apeared, and to stop any misunderstanding they never had the word Português in the name or the acronym PSP. As such the redirect page should stop, and instead in Portuguese Socialist Party someone should write a translation of the Portuguese wikipedia article on the PSP party. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.154.141.187 (talk) 19:26, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm portuguese, and it's actually pretty confusing to me too. The party says it belongs to the left wing, but when they are in the government, the only left wing policies they implement are social ones (gay marriage for example). I think it stands for social democracy, but I also read "third way" in infobox. I have doubts about being third way, that should be confirmed by citing reliable sources. B.Lameira (talk) 20:38, 25 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello everyone! The SuggestBot offered me to produce some wikilinks to Jorge Campinos (politician), and I found out that this page about the Socialist Party is actually a redirect from "Jorge Campinos" if you search for articles on him. I ran a keyword search for "Campinos" through this article, and there are no mentions of him in the text.
