Perhaps a picture would make more sense?

So another source described it as "mushroom shaped" with the ice sheet as providing support for the "stem" of the mushroom and the "cap" collapsing when the ice receded. This article describes a "lake" where the volcano exits the top of the ice sheet? Also wondering about ice sheet compression effects. I live in the Puget Sound area and the last ice sheet, estimated at 1000 meters thick, depressed the surrounding region which is now rising (rebounding) at centimeters per decade.
