Metallica was formed in
Kirk Hammet. Metallica was signed on to Megaforce Records, who released the band's first studio album, Kill 'Em All, in 1983.[5] After the band’s second album, Ride the Lightning, Metallica left Megaforce and signed to Elektra Records.[6] The band recorded Master of Puppets, which became Metallica's first gold album,[7]
before Burton was killed in a bus accident on tour.
Ex-
Warner Bros. Records. Rick Rubin is producing the album; he is the first new producer for Metallica since 1990's Metallica, which was produced by Rock.[10] Metallica has sold over 100 million records worldwide,[11] with over 57 million records in the United States alone.[12][13] This makes the band the most successful thrash metal band of all time.[12]
