The guidelines specifically state "All alumni meeting these criteria are to be included on an alumni list, regardless of how much time they have spent on a school roll, from one day to several years, and whether or not they graduated." - someone tried to exclude Saifullah Paracha on the basis that he did not graduate, which is clearly contradictory to this guideline, and appeared an attempt to "sanitize" the list, which currently includes all alumni with their own articles.

My previous example of Trinity College, Cambridge, was deliberately extreme. They only list their 32 Nobel Prize winners and 6 Prime ministers in Trinity College, Cambridge, they then list about 260 alumni at List of alumni of Trinity College, Cambridge but looking at Category:Alumni of Trinity College, Cambridge they have over 2,110 Alumni with Wikipedia Articles; so only about 12.5% of their alumni with articles make it to their "list".

No Wikipedia article should be dominated by a list, and as previously explained, there is no point in having a separate list if the inclusion criteria are the same. Currently, the list in the article is just about acceptable, but if it becomes much longer, there will need to be some additional criteria, other than having an article. The problem is, that these criteria need to be agreed by consensus, which, given the edit-warring and sock puppetry that has gone on at that article, will be difficult. With over 100,000 alumni to date, and more each year, the number will clearly grow.

It is worth looking at other articles, and possibly asking on their talk pages what their criteria are:- Yale University avoids a list in their main article, but IMHO the prose is just a "sea-of-text" and is less readable than a list - how they are selected, I don't know. Princeton University and Harvard University also uses prose, but they are far better arranged, making the names readable.

My role as a reviewer is to only reject obvious vandalism, not to be familiar with the article or its content. When there is doubt, I must approve the change. What part was vandalism? I just proposed them for deletion because they seemed not notable. One was just a house with no sources or references and a moth with no information. Hi Youngdrake - thanks for your post.

Speedy deletion is a complicated area, and not one you can just launch into. You were doing so incorrectly, that nothing would have happened, but all you were doing was nominating your own page for deletion.

There are a large number of criteria for Speedy Deletion, and you need to make a request in a specific category, for specific reasons. These can be found at Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion. Some of these like hoaxes, or blank pages are easy candidates for speedy deletion.

Before nominating anything under notability, you need to read and understand Wikipedia:Notability and then all the specific advice under each subject.

As regards your moth

WP:A7

clearly states, "This criterion does not apply to species of animals, only to individual animal(s)" so you cannot nominate a species, as all species are deemed notable, but you could nominate say an individual horse which had not won any significant races. Several things are deemed inherently notable, such as inhabited places, and secondary schools, but not primary schools. There are very complicated criteria for music articles, particularly the notability of singles, as distinct from albums and musicians, as distinct from the band they play in.

It does thanks. I can't seem to find anything on that page about exemptions for species. These pages for species of fly's,moths ect are a waste as no information about them is provided. All that is provided for the most part is the name and what genus it is. For what it's worth, I feel the same way about articles on national historic places that consist of nothing more than a single sentence and a set of coordinates. Wikipedia has deemed them all inherently notable, which seems crazy to me given their multitude and their lack of "real" notability according to WP's own terms (being the subject of multiple reliable secondary sources), but you'll never get one deleted even if it is nothing more than an outhouse in rural Utah: once in the Register, it's golden. arajay, this is babytutta85. Many years ago, when flo ballard died, it was common knowledge that Diana Ross had left money to Flo Ballards children. Not only was this disclosed on Tv One Unsung, but, I personally knew this because I knew Flo. I live not far from where she grew up. The fact that Diana failed to do this for Flos kids was an embarrasement for the motown family. The least that can we can do at this point is acknowledge it since motown and diana failed her and her kids.

Hi, I was wondering if you could take a look at the article

I always feel bad criticizing other peoples articles, but as you have asked for it, there are three points I would raise - all in the lead:-
The first sentence assumes the reader knows who the Sami are, and where they live - although they can click the link to find out, they have then left the article. I suggest that after woods, you add "of northern Scandinavia" or some thing similar, to help the reader.
The second sentence ends "northern parts of Ångermanland and north." North what?
The final two sentences appear self contradictory - if Manker's study was in the early 1900s, and "practically all habitations (plural) had been abandoned" how was there only one village? - and if it was "located in Malå during the 1800s" where was it located at other times - e.g when Manker carried out his study in the early 1900s? - This also contradicts the 1882 committee investigartion futher down

I am also concerned about the quotation, where it appears you have only translated part of it into English

A look here ([4]) shows that this person has in addition to making yet another a blind revert. They have then decided to be uncivil and try and spite with a constant refusal to sign their posts, and brag about it. Despite an offer to discuss the issue and some suggestions by myself, this user has adopted a my way or the way approach. What concerns me here is the complete disregard for the Wikipedia process. WP:MOS guidelines for gamebooks, or even games in general, I assume it comes under Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Novels

, which states:-

" Plot summaries should be concise and an integral part of the article. Three or four paragraphs are usually sufficient for a full-length work, although very complex and lengthy novels may need a bit more. Shorter novels and short stories should have shorter summaries."'

I don't know the length of the book, or how "complex" it is (I am sure those wanting a longer plot will argue that it is complex), but suspect three or four paragraphs should suffice, although currently the paragraphs are fairly short.
Although difficult to tell when other editors are IPs, you appear to be having a fairly limited discussion, which, to ensure true consensus should be broadened. I note that at the top of Talk:Creature of Havoc it states "You may prefer to discuss this article on the talk page for the List of Fighting Fantasy gamebooks article" which will presumably get more editors involved.
Finally, although I agree that people not signing their posts etc. is annoying, you should not attack the editor, just concentrate on their argument. 13:36, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

reliable sources. You need to interest someone in your research, but they need to have a reputation for fact checking, and be seen as independent, so local papers (some of which publish almost anything, in order to fill space) are rarely deemed suitable, although some are, and sometimes a piece in a local paper will lead to a larger piece in a national publication.
I cannot see the BBC re-writing the article used to verify the current list of "Doubly" villages, and as far as I know the hellfireclub, which produces the main First World War lists, limits itself to WWI - although they may be worth approaching, as this would be an interesting addition to their lists. Thirdly, there must be some reputable local history societies, who might like to include your research, but please do not "self-publish" it, as that is deemed neither reliable, nor independent.
You may find more specific help at either Wikipedia:WikiProject History or Portal:History where editors with a specific interest in history tend to gather, although those talk pages seem rather slow to generate responses. Finally, it is worth raising this at Talk:Thankful Villages, which may attract someone with a very specific interest, and also gets your claim on the talk page. - Arjayay (talk

The rules for article titles are set out in

WP:RECOGNIZABLE

which states:-

"Wikipedia ... prefers to use the name that is most frequently used to refer to the subject in English-language reliable sources"

We are not, therefore, interested in what es:wikipidia uses - they presumably use the common name in Spanish, whereas we want English, whilst neither Wikipedia, nor IMDb are

reliable sources

Although not "proof" of the common name, Google searches are a good indication; and these give 16,200 matches for Luis Escobar, 7th Marquis of the Guadalquivir Marshes and 135,000 matches for "Luis Escobar Kirkpatrick". Although many of the results are not in English, this is a clear majority.

The page needs to be

Luis Escobar, 7th Marquis of the Guadalquivir Marshes so anyone looking for that page (which will still appear in search engines etc. for some weeks) will automatically be redirected to the new title Luis Escobar Kirkpatrick

, and moving the article will preserve the edit history.

Album covers are copyright, but can be used under a claim of “fair-use” although they have to be uploaded to English Wikipedia, whereas non-copyright images are uploaded to Wikipedia Commons
Being “fair-use” there are a few more rules, particularly about them having to be low-resolution images, and controlling where they can be used.
Album covers can only be used in an article about that specific album. They cannot be used in a general article about the band, and cannot be used in a discography

1. Find a copy of the cover which has at least one side 300pixels or less. Amazon is good for recent albums – most of their images are 300 x 300 or 240 x 240. If you have to photograph or scan an old cover, because you can’t find an image, or have to use Google images to find one, it may need reducing in size to bring it down
2. Save this image to your computer, preferably under a sensible name, not an image number
3. On the English Wikipedia, click “Upload file” under “tools” on the left hand side panel
4. Follow the instructions and note very carefully the file name you use – this is case sensitive and cannot use “illegal” file name characters
5. Go to the page you want to use the file
   If there is an infobox insert the file as Cover = title (must be exact & include extension e.g. .jpg)
   Save page (Will take a few seconds to link up the first time)

I have gone through all 3 articles on Azamgarh and I think the fit page to add these people is Azamgarh itself. My father hails from Azamgarh and I have extended family and house there. In the state of Uttar Pradesh, towns are organised as districts. Not all towns / cities can be district. The districts are then clubbed into divisions. So, Azamgarh town is a district which also happens to be part of Azamgarh division. Though the website states "Azamgargh an official website of the district" but there is no website of town / municipality so do we remove Azamgarh page? Please note municipality is a part of district and hence there won't be a separate website for it.

Also going by that logic, we need to move following people to district website as they belong to places i.e. town/villages in Azamgarh:

• Shaikh Shamim Ahmed - born in small town of Sudanipur (Shudnipur), in Azamgarh district.
• Kaifi Azmi - born in village of Mizwaa(n) in Azamgarh
• Hamiduddin Farahi - born in village Phreha in the district of Azamgarh
• Iqbal Suhail - born in village Badheria, Azamgarh

Similarly Delhi is a City, Capital and also a State in India. So, do we create separate pages and add people names in different page? No, right?

Azamgarh District. When removing the names the first time, I clearly stated why, naming each town in turn. to make it clear that they are not from Azamgarh itself. We have had a lot of problems on that page with such additions, which is why there is a clear hidden text in the article immediately above where you have been adding these names. . There is (now) no page called Meher Singh, so we do not need, or want, to disambiguate the title - i.e. we do not need the (pilot) as there are no other Mehar Singh article.

Yayitsjp - No worries - people often get up-tight when their early edits are reverted
There are a lot of rules around here and people can't be expected to know them all - I certainly don't and I've been around for about 6 years and 60,000 edits.
Im in the UK and have no idea if the show is "notable" enough to merit its own "stand-alone" article.
The guidance at Wikipedia:Notability (radio show host) covers the shows as well as the hosts. -I suggest you read it all (it's fairly short) but the important sections are:-

Notability can be asserted for radio shows and hosts through:

• Nontrivial inclusion in reliable third party published materials.
• A significant amount of non-trivial media coverage that is comprehensive, and that deals specifically with the radio show and host as the primary subject.

The following ... should be rejected....

1. Documents produced by the radio shows and hosts should not be used as an assertion of notability. However, they can be used as supplemental source material for an article.
2. Internal documents can include reports, newsletters, press releases, magazines and websites published by the radio shows and hosts. This applies even if originally self-published material is later reprinted in other sources.

All biases aside, yes I do honestly believe that the page on notable enough to warrant it's own show page. Let me do some digging regrading some third party sources... I'm pretty confident I will be able to find quite a few outside of Twitter and Facebook. I'll definitely work on this and get back to you. I'd like to continue to help to improve the Ben Maller page. I'm new here but I'm eager to learn and quickly improve. I definitely feel, though, that The Blitz (Fox Sports Blitz) is not notable enough for it's own page as it's essentially a "filler" radio show so to speak and does not warrant it's own page. Do you think we could also find a public-domain image of Ben Maller to display? I can probably contact him and ask him.

Quick question though: is it just me or has the "timeslot" parameter been removed from Wikipedia? Not sure if you'd be able to help me with that or not.

Also, it may be best to remove the "benmaller.com" link as the site is essentially dead. At one point Maller used it to break numerous news articles in the world of sports... since then he's let it fall into a state of disrepair and it's essentially a blank page right now. I don't think a blank page is really worth linking to for anthing other than posterity sake, yanno?

I'm afraid I don't understand enough about the decision making process to make a useful contribution:-
If the Chief Minister states something, or the Cabinet makes a statement, is that necessarily a binding agreement? or does it still need to be negotiated, debated and voted on?
The Times if India appears to be being deliberately vague "it gives strong indication that the capital will come up in Amaravati." which is clearly NOT a statement that it will "come up in Amaravati".
I think it is fair to include these statements, as quotations, but not as facts, since they are, as stated, only "indications".

Arjayay, the german system may sound rather specific and sounds rather complicated from an anglo-american view. I didn't intend to get personal - its a rather widespread anglo issue and difference to the German system. Point is that education (and the deliberate inclusion of religion within) has been a cornerstone of the construction of Germany as a federal nation(s) state and is rather different to the separation of church and state elsewhere. The shared responsibility for education was not only used to built a nation but as well to implement and maintain the churches as specific public law legal entities. Muslims in general had problems in getting involved in the game and it was as an initiative of German politics, the Deutsche Islamkonferenz, not only to discusss but to install churchlike muslim associations the state was able to and willing to talk to. The Ahmadiyyas, (a sort of Latter day muslim sect) have by chance a rather German sounding setup and managed first to being acknowledged as a sort of Landeskirche. SBproject - Well done - you were nearly right
You should put the date it was published (issued) under "date", and the day you read it under "access date" - don't worry, this is a common mistake.
The idea of having 2 dates is that sometimes websites change their information, and it records which day you read it. This allows someone using the "Wayback Machine" or another archive search to find the exact page that you read.

My edit, which you reverted on the teahouse, was indeed correct. You can check the edit history of the teahouse and the original edit was made by me and I can confirm that originally I did not intend to have the 4 threads and the deletion was not accidental. Instead it was a problem with the <nowiki> tag. Please address the problem.

You didn't add the threads - they were already there - This was your first edit - which as shown in the history added just 269 bytes - The effect of your addition was to crash the previous 4 threads into each other, but you didn't add them.
If you look at the page immediately before you edited it here you can see the 4 threads I listed above, and if you click "newer revision" under the pink bar on that page, you can see what happened.

Yes, that is exactly what happened - because you put <nowiki> without a matching </nowiki> all the text after yours appeared as wikicode, until it found the next </nowiki> towards the end of the fourth thread below yours. You must always close a formatting instruction, or it will carry on applying the formatting - bold, small, underlined or whatever formatting - until it finds the next instruction to close that formatting. May I say how well you have done with your first article - I had to make some changes, to keep within the rules and guidelines, but generally it was a very good first effort.

Google has its own rules as to how things are ordered, which they try to keep secret to stop companies altering things to get ahead of their rivals in the list. The position in the list can also change depending on where you are in the world - you have done nothing wrong, but Google's crawlers can take several days to catch up.
When you say "distinct appearance" I assume you are referring to a photo and text shown to the right of a Google search? This is called Google's

Knowledge Graph

(see our article for more details).
Google gets its information from a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong.

Not everyone, gets a Knowledge Graph - and I don't know how they choose - usually the subjects that get a Knowledge Graph have many thousands of Google matches, so you may have to wait until Mohammad Ashraf is better known. Hi Nayeemm - I'm afraid I don't know what you mean - I can see no real difference with the Rucha Pujari article - it uses the same infobox etc, and we don't have an article on Adhiban Baskaran. I'm afraid I don't understand why you think one is a biography and another isn't - are you reading these on a phone or an I-pad? because they do display things differently. AFAIK,

Articles on high schools and secondary schools, with rare exceptions, have been kept when nominated at Articles for Deletion except where they fail verifiability.

The school has a web-site, so we can verify it exists, so it passes verifiability; although I note Ukexpat has tagged it for notability and needing third party sources.
I have argued that this is wrong in the past, but to no avail. I seem to remember working out there are about 1 Million schools in the world - which is a lot of articles.
It is not the size of the articles that worry me - Wikipedia's servers can cope, but the fact that schools articles are among the most problematic. Students frequently add rude comments about other students, or staff, or vandalize rival schools' pages. Apology accepted - Wikipedia rules are complex, and some are even counter-intuitive, but we have all had to start somewhere - some editors are, however, less patient than others.
You may have noticed I corrected some spellings in Black Patch Tobacco Wars earlier today. You seem to have understood basic references and the article is much better - there was only one reference when you started.
One thing that would help, is dealing with the multiple references - as explained at Help:Referencing for beginners#Same reference used more than once.
To take the refs you added today, if you choose a name for the references you are going to use more than once, (I would use something like CG252 to remind me it was Country Gentlemen Page 252) then type <ref name="GG252"> at the beginning of the first time you use that reference, instead of the <ref>, then when you use the reference again just use <ref name="GG252" /> This will group all the references together in the footnotes section.
Assuming you are using the standard editor, you can click "Cite" in the top line then click "Named references", and all the names used on that page will appear, allowing you to choose the right one.
Any problems/questions, don't be afraid to ask, although I am in the UK so tend to stop around 19.30 UTC

Hey! I would like to report some vandalism on the album site for "To Pimp A Butterfly" by Kendrick Lamar.

First you go to the summary "producers" and he got his name in there "Itzik Bensoli", and then after to tracklisting that he have completely ereased the original producer names and put his own name "Itzik Bensoli" . (this regards track nr 4 "Institutionilized") where it should be - Fredrik 'Tommy Black' Halldin, Rahki. Also in the "writer" section he got his name "Itzik Bensoli" that should be ereased also.

Hi Roshan014 - Thanks for your post.
If it is a picture that you found on the internet, you almost certainly cannot upload it to Wikipedia, because it is very probably copyright. The rules over copyright are complicated, but explained here.
Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and copyright images are deleted, except in very special circumstances, known as "fair-use" which is explained here.
A few images on the internet have their copyright released, but without this, they cannot be used - the fact that something does not say it is copyright is irrelevant, we can use images with a clear copyright release.
Where files are uploaded to, and how to do it, depends on the copyright situation - if you can give a link to the picture, I can try to advise you on this. - Arjayay (talk) 18:22, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

You had removed all but one of the unreferenced names, without Wikipedia articles, so I have removed the remaining one.
The problem with Alumni lists is that they get bloated with far too many non-notable people, often people add themselves as discussed at:- Your alma mater is not your ticket to Wikipedia.
Most Alumni lists require every entry to have an article, as this is the easiest way to clearly demonstrate the individual meets Wikipedia:Notability (people).
However, for the most prestigious institutions, this can give too many names, e.g. Trinity College, Cambridge just lists Nobel Prizewinners and Prime Ministers on the article page, List of alumni of Trinity College, Cambridge lists 264 alumni, whilst Category:Alumni of Trinity College, Cambridge lists over 2300, so over 2000 do not even make the separate stand alone list.
The inclusion criteria are, therefore wildly different, including unimportant people on some lists and excluding clearly notable people on others. IMHO there should be a simple "No article = No inclusion" rule, futher guidelines as to the maximum number in an article on an institution, and how to deal with stand alone lists. - Arjayay (talk) 17:30, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

I think that the second paragraph of the Sexual Abuse Scandal section of the Diocesan College article has too many allegations and innuendos but with no names or dates. The only reference is the Noseweek article (http://www.noseweek.co.za/article/3210/Sex-abuse-cover-up-row-at-elite-Cape-school) While Noseweek certianly digs up dirt, it's not known as an august publication of record. I feel either some better substantiation to the allegations be provided in the article so that all the "reportedly's" can be removed or the allegations should be removed. What are your thoughts? 3RR rule - although correcting vandalism is the exception to 3RR, you admit "what I believe to be, incorrect information" so it seems you are not 100% sure.
From the sources you have cited, I think you are right, although I don't know if other sources will surface. I can understand someone arguing that National Geographic is a reliable source, however, although National Geographic is a good source for geography and certain sciences, I am sure The Tablet is a better source for the divisions (castes and tribes?) of the Catholic Church.
In extreme cases of discrepancies, where "the truth" cannot be ascertained, we do occasionally write sources A + B state X, but sources C + D state Y, but I don't think this is really required in this article.

I always welcome education, but when your reasoning said that I was psychotic (ie don't know the difference between reality and fiction) I just thought it was a little discourteous, or at least not quite accurate. I would have preferred you educate me on the talk page of the article, which is where I asked about two other potential names, since I'd much rather be educated than just reverted. I teach and coach drums and have many of Reilly's videos as examples, but am totally willing to defer to any more knowledgeable editor who understands notability far better than I, such as yourself, just want to make sure 1. It is reasoned and discussed, not just an off hand revert and 2. Is factual (a. he is not just a vocalist --I provided a link-- and is certainly as much a musician today as an actor). That said, folks like you who are the conscience of wiki do add a valuable watchdog feature for the many garage bands who want to self promote. I have no relationship to this actor/musician, just trying to make wiki more complete, as this article was on the "improve by adding" list under the percussion project, thanks. List of contemporary classical double bass players, List of jazz bassists, List of drummers} were all nominated for deletion here and only scraped through on a "no consensus" decision, not a clear "keep".
The common problem with all such lists, is that, with no clear definition of "notable", the really notable people become totally swamped by a sea of "also-rans", making the list rather pointless.
With regard to John C. Reilly, although his article refers to his music in six (very short) paragraphs, there is no mention of drums, or drumming in his article whatsoever. A reader coming across his name in the List of drummers may click the link, but finding no mention of drumming in his article, would be confused, or assume a mistake. If you think he deserves to be in the List of drummers, then his article needs to explain why - the link you provided in an edit summary would be a good start for expanding his article, so the raison d'être for his inclusion can easily be found and understood. If his article is expanded to include this aspect, I would not object to his retention. - Arjayay (talk

Hello Arjayay! I have a interest in Indian cinema and while surfing on internet I happened to find a website which gives quite good info(crew, plot, budget, box office etc) about movies especially upcoming Bollywood movies, here is the link (http://www.bfwa.in/) its sort of IMDB thing but about bollywood, I find nothing in the website that might undermine Wikipedia Integrity rather it helps new readers like me to understand more about the movie, so I placed this link in to movie page ABCD 2 and couple of others (which you can see from my contributions), but they were reverted by user:IndianBio, he gave me 3rd level warning straightaway and in the very next minute a final warning here despite I didn't make any edit in between those warnings, when I asked him on his talk page, he gave the most absurd reason that I own the website so I am putting the link here offcourse I don't own it you can check. But when I asked him he didn't bother to reply first, I waited and then reinserted, he again reverted and threatened me to block. Kindly help me out here to understand, the website contains no malicious data not promotional, it is simply info about the movie, He is being very bully. I look forward to contribute to Wikipedia but behavior like his may force me to think otherwise. I didn't want to indulge in edit warring with him so I thought I may consult someone else. notable sources, but unlike IMDB, BWFA does not appear to have a Wikipedia article of its own, so does not appear to be notable.
I do not know if you have any connection to BWFA, but your editing pattern is unusual in that, until 14 June, you had a mixed set of edits, but suddenly started to add that site to numerous articles.
Furthermore, editors with only 41 edits rarely understand Wikipedia as you appear to - dealing with 4 dead-end templates and some red-links on your first day, and knowing about warning template levels.
I note user:IndianBio also referred to Copyvios on that site - I am not sure why, as I can't see anything immediately obvious, but some sites show different content depending where the reader is (I am in the UK).

The article states:- "Her first role was "Little Girl" in Royal Celebration, a 1993 TV film. A year later, she had a small role in the film A Village Affair. She later starred in 1995's Innocent Lies and 1998's Coming Home."

It looks like you've already done it, and that someone tried to change the internal title before your additions.
