Joseph Hunter
Thanks for writing an article on Joseph Hunter, then linking it from several articles on Wells Gray Park where I have mentioned his surveying work. When writing a book on the park, I never researched Hunter's work or life outside his railway surveys through the future park. Your info is really interesting and I would like to include it in the next book edition, whenever that is.Roland Neave (talk) 05:01, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Yellow-breasted chat
I am the author of the article about Dolichonyx oryzivorus in the Spanish Wikipedia and I found a paper that said that the bobolink, an icterid, is closely related to the yellow-breasted chat. When I wrote that in the article’s taxonomy section, it aroused some controversy due to the fact that the yellow-breasted chat was originally classified as a parulid. Then I resorted to the article in English about this bird to learn more about its taxonomy and it suggested that its classification as a parulid is obsolete. I saw in the history page of that bird’s article that you’d made several contributions to it and I was wondering if knew anything about its current classification. Have you heard or read anything about its phylogenetic links with Icteridae? If you happen to know any free-access paper available in the internet about this matter, I’d appreciate you let mi know in my talk. Thank you! --Pablo.ea.92 (talk) 10:43, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Sources for James Lyons Biggar and relatives
I'm currently engaged in a discussion about some details of the early Biggars in Canada at User talk:Michael Biggar, related to an article draft on Robert Biggar. According to Michael, Robert Biggar was the father of Charles Biggar, born in Bath, New York, in 1797. Charles would presumably be James Lyons Biggar's father; you wrote in the article on James Lyons that his father's family came from the town of Biggar in Scotland, but you gave no reference. On the other hand, there is a History of Brant County which says on p. 186 that Robert Biggar's son James was born in Biggar, Scotland, in 1803 and came to Canada with his father in 1806. I cannot see how we can reconcile Charles Biggar's birth in New York with James Biggar's birth in Scotland, unless there are two different persons named Robert Biggar. Can you help us? Where did you get the information about James Lyons' ancestors from? Huon (talk) 17:20, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick and thorough reply! I must have been pretty blind to miss that reference. Huon (talk) 22:01, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Regards
- Thank you for your answer.
- Still, the article may not reasonably be searched for or linked to under two or more names : the name you produce is not widely sourced.
- By creating this page, you may induce creations of sources(post).
- And according to Wikipedia's policies, "full names and dates of birth are included when widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object". In this case, there are no widely published sources about a full name. Furthermore, the author, that publish exclusively under pseudonym, objects to the publication of any full name : it is not of public concern, nor related to its notability.
//So please remove this page as it could be an intrusion of privacy. Regards.Bess Gall (talk) 13:50, 29 January 2015 (UTC)
Hello Big Iron
These "hundreds of results" of the google search very rarely concern a writer. It is not because you find a full name that it means that it is related to the topic.
We have too little serious and reliable sources that meet our criteria on the quality of the sources, which would show that this writer legal name would be the first and last name listed as the title of the page you created and in the article itself : no legal or full name related to this writer has been widely published by reliable sources.
Moreover, this writer is also sometimes referred as “Rosie Parks” and “Sandrine Bessora”. You find this contradiction in the source you produced in the article: "In their novels “Garçon Manqué” (2000) and “53cm” 1999, Nina Bouraoui and Sandrine Bessora, respectively…".(p.99)
Furthermore, this source is not "Directly related to the topic".
Add to this that it is the only source in google books referring to Bessora as having the full name you mentioned.
This may be insufficient, regarding Wikipedia rules.
These are other reasons, added to presumption in favor of privacy, to remove the page, the redirect and the mention of this name. Regards. Dabbeydabbey (talk) 09:09, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

If you have online access to newspaper archives for one of the Winnipeg daily newspapers, you should also be able to find election results there. --Big_iron (talk) 05:19, 7 February 2015 (UTC)

Article Creation?
I came back from my multi-month Wikipedia break to find that someone put a huge dent in my Articles To-Create list at User:Dkriegls/Biography to-do list. I was excited to learn that someone was you! Thanks for all the hard work. I've been slowly whittling that list of female writers down over that past few years, but you did about as much work as all my other work combined (if not more). I'm curious, were you working off names from my list, or is it just a coincidence? --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 04:30, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- I have been picking up names from Wikipedia:WikiProject Women writers/Missing articles which probably overlaps your list.--Big_iron (talk) 12:03, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- Awesome! I had posted a link to that user group last year and it looks like User:Dr. Blofeld took that list and imported it further. Interesting to track down the path projects take. --Dkriegls (talk to me!) 23:03, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Women's History Month 2015
Hi Big iron. I would just like to say how much I have appreciated your tremendous contribution to Women's History Month with over 60 new biographies of writers from around the world, not to mention all the redirects and additions to existing articles. I've been through most of your new articles and found them all well presented and interesting to read. Maybe you'll be around next year when we'll probably be concentrating on artists.--Ipigott (talk) 10:52, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
DYK for Sugako Hashida
On 4 April 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Sugako Hashida, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that scriptwriter Sugako Hashida wrote the original script for Oshin, the first asadora to be both produced and written by women in Japan? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Speedy deletion nomination of Geneviève BilletteHello Big iron, I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Geneviève Billette for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia. If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
