On a side note looks like your doing all this work by hand....have you seen our tools for that? Bellow the ones I use
  • Help:Citation tools
  • Google book tool Converts bare url into {{cite book}} format'
  • refill - Edits bare references - adds title/dates etc. to bare references
  • Checklinks - It uses standard HTTP response code and some redirect heuristics to detect dead links.
  • refill - Edits bare references - adds title/dates etc. to bare references.
  • RefScript - Just drag the (blue) button below onto your browser's bookmark bar to install. - Then, just click the bookmark when you want to generate a reference.

Cite HOT

I just reverted your good-faith edits at Margaret Lea Houston. Thank you for trying, but I'd like to see Template:Cite HOT totally disabled, quite frankly. And the reason being, that the Handbook of Texas keeps changing its url, or changes the article ID by one number or letter. When that happens, all our citations made with that become dead links. Then we have to request a bot to find and fix all of them. But no bot gets them all, so we have to do a lot of manual work to fix the deadlinks. This has happened every year or two since I've been on Wikipedia. It's a nightmare. I can't tell you not to use Cite HOT if you want to. But I sure don't want it on Margaret Lea Houston, or any other article I'm active on. It just creates a lot more work later down the link. — Maile (talk) 20:06, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Template:Cite HOT

Template:Cite HOT has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. — Maile (talk) 20:18, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I put it up for deletion is because it duplicates Template:Handbook of Texas. You are encouraged to comment on the deletion template. — Maile (talk) 20:20, 24 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Darrend1967, thank you for cleaning up the references in this article. I have partially reverted one of your recent removals of bibliographic entries in the "References" section. Using Template:sfn for shortened footnotes, one "long" bibliographic entry with all details for each reference still needs to be retained in the article. No biggie, I just wanted to let you know some additional information. I have fixed that problem already and tweaked 2 other relatively minor issues. If you haven't done so already, I'd recommend to install User:Ucucha/HarvErrors in your .js-file. This script will highlight inconsistencies in harvard citations (like missing or broken harvard links, or misspelled sfn templates). Best regards. GermanJoe (talk) 15:07, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

EB1911 vs Cite EB1911 templates

I note the changes you've made to, for example A Estrada and Aaron Chorin. Please note that the {{EB1911}} (especially with the inline parameter) and {{Cite EB1911}} templates are different in an important way. The first is intended to mark a significant amount of text (a sentence or more) that is lifted verbatim from EB1911; the second is for an assertion that can be verified in EB, but isn't a direct quote. The purpose of making the distinction is to defend against plagiarism charges; quoting a PD source verbatim is OK so long as it is properly acknowledged. The distinction is described in the {{Cite EB1911}} doc and in Wikipedia:WikiProject Encyclopaedia Britannica. PBS and I have been careful to make the distinction as we've been tagging EB1911 articles. In particular, in Aaron Chorin, the sentence in the lead section is exactly copied from s:1911 Encyclopædia Britannica/Chorin, Aaron. Can you review you changes and double-check? Thanks. David Brooks (talk) 04:06, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the reversions! I didn't mean to sound harsh; Wikipedia is better for the good custodial work you're doing with citation cleanup in general. David Brooks (talk) 16:39, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, it seems that we were messaging each other about the same time. Glad you didn't find me as harsh as I thought I had been! David Brooks (talk) 21:00, 26 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I'm not sure what this edit did. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 20:43, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It fixes a broken citation tag. One of the citations in the body of the article, specifically "Schmidlin 1904" uses {{Sfn|Schmidlin|1904|at=III, 125}}. The target reference "Schmidlin" didn't have the "harv" tag to connect the citation with the reference.Darrend1967 (talk) 20:48, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Thanks! Magnolia677 (talk) 03:16, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

coauthors and short citations

When you made this change you broke the short citation link. There was a reason for using coauthor instead of author2 because coauthor is not included in {{

harv}} type links (did you never ask yourself why it was used?) How many other short citation links did you break? -- PBS (talk) 10:25, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Port Refuge

A tag has been placed on

section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://parkscanadahistory.com/park_summaries/nu-e.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing
.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by
