Hi, about an year ago, you added some text to Ancient Greece with references to Garrison, 1966; Nuland, 1988 and Strathern. Could you, please, clarify, what do they refer to, because it is currently very unclear. Thanks. Svick (talk) 10:57, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmmm, I vaguely remember that edit. As I recall, I was mostly restoring text from an older version of the page, which had been cut out of the article for no apparent reason. The Garrison and Nuland references definitely weren't added by me - I don't deny restoring them, but I've never heard of them, and I don't use the "harvnb" template.
Strathern though, I can help you with. The citation is:
Thanks for the reference (unfortunately, I didn't notice that the Strathern reference was removed from the article, so I didn't really need it). I searched the history of the article (using WikiBlame) and it doesn't seem that there ever was reference to Garrison before you entered it. Isn't it possible that you copied it from another article? Id yes, you won't happen to remember from where, would you? Thanks. Svick (talk) 15:36, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think that I did copy over some text from the articles that that section summarizes (probably the lead sections of the articles) However, I've just checked
Ancient Greek Medicine
—which I suppose is where I originally copied the text from—and if the Garrison and Nuland references were from there, they aren't anymore. It seems the article had has a substantial re-write since.
I would guess that Nuland is from this book: [1], and Garrison is from this book [2], but I'm not certain, and (obviously) haven't read them. Sorry I can't be more help! MinisterForBadTimes (talk) 16:21, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have done what I should have do a while ago: search for the text you copied, and it seems you copied it from Hippocrates. That article has the full references. Thanks for cooperation. Svick (talk) 17:14, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Well, I'm glad that's cleared up. Apologies for creating any problems. MinisterForBadTimes (talk) 17:19, 20 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing this out. I was trying to cut through what I found to be a rather large mess in Achaean related articles (i.e. 'Achaea' and 'Achaeans' ending at totally different subjects, when they should both really be disambiguated). I made sure that I undid any double re-directs, but forgot about linking within other articles. I will get to work on sorting them out. M.F.B.T.Yes, Minister? 13:57, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Regions
The article starts from Peloponnesus, should n't we start from either Alphabetical order of regions, or extreme south (crete) or extreme north (macedon) or by using some similar formula?Megistias (talk) 23:36, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

1) At articles like Wars of the Delian League you should avoid personal conclusions unsupported by any sources - territorial changes aren't always indicator of result of victory or defeat. Example is First Persian invasion of Greece where Persian subjugated some Greek territories, but none of sources claim it was "Persian victory" (which according your resulting-system actually is). Think about it.
2) I've noticed that you made most of articles about ancient battles, so why there is no battle of the Jaxartes on Wikipedia?
Cheers! :)
Please check this and say your opinion. --93.143.39.39 (talk) 15:23, 22 May 2010 (UTC) (Orijentolog)[reply]
OK, I saw your answer about Thermopylae on Dougweller's talk page. I'm glad that we both agree it was decisive but without sources. The same goes for battle of the Persian Gates - identical situation, but I won't forcing removing "decisive" because there's no sources, coz it would be childish. :) Enjoy! --93.143.35.106 (talk) 21:42, 21 June 2010 (UTC)(Orijentolog)[reply]

Please check this change at Greco-Persian Wars (I hope I'm not bored with this one again); it's not kind a dispute, just adding some more facts and information - for example, there was big defect by excluded Artaxerxes I who was CINC for 16 years during the war.--93.143.58.151 (talk) 09:58, 14 June 2010 (UTC)(Orijentolog)[reply]

2500th anniversary
Maybe you'll say it doesn't follow Wikipedia rules or that I'm to sentimental about the issue, but should we put some header in article Battle of Marathon to mark 2,500th anniversary of that battle (till September 10)? It's kind of unique opportunity in lifetime. ;) --93.143.18.35 (talk) 23:27, 21 August 2010 (UTC)(Orijentolog)[reply]

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:
tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.
As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.
The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting
As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. Nominations for both awards are open between 00:01 on 2 December 2017 and 23:59 on 15 December 2017. After this, a 14-day voting period will follow commencing at 00:01 on 16 December 2017. Nominations and voting will take place on the main project talkpage: here and here. Thank you for your time. For the co-ordinators, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:36, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. Contributors intrested in the area of military history are requested to share their feedback and give suggestions at Talk:Discussion to incubate a user group for Wikipedia Military Historians.
