Hi Mmuroya,
Thanks for helping with Japan-related articles on Wikipedia. Here's an invitation to visit Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan. There, you can meet other Wikipedians working on articles related to Japan. You'll find lists of new articles, projects, and links to resources such as
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style (Japan-related articles), with decisions the community has made about how to format articles
- Template:Newest Japan-related articles, where you can list the articles you create so the community can see them
- Portal:Japan, a collection of resources on Japan
- Wikipedia:Japan-related topics notice board, for notifying the community of topics of interest
You'll also learn about WikiProject Japan, a template you can place on the talk page of any relevant article, and find instructions for assessing articles.
Hope to see you there!

Links to municipalities in Japan
Hi Mmuroya, and thank you for starting articles on so many Japanese castles.
You may be interested to know that the English Wikipedia has an article on very nearly every city, town and village in Japan, as well as districts (gun). When you link to a municipality, following the form city, prefecture, for example, Kanazawa, Ishikawa gets to the correct article in most cases. (Certain of the largest cities have links with no prefecture names, for example, Yokohama.) Often, you do not want the name of the prefecture to appear. For such cities, use a piped link. A piped link includes the name of the article you want to link to, followed by the pipe symbol (|), then the text you want to appear on the screen. So, for example, to link to the article on Kanazawa, Ishikawa and make only the name of the city appear, write Kanazawa.
I hope you find this helpful.
Best regards, Fg2 (talk) 10:49, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Osaka Castle
I think the view of the moat in the image you've just added is superior to the one which was already posted on the page. I would be in favor of removing that older image in favor of the newer one. What do you think? --

Castles in Japan
Recently, you've been adding to a few castles in Gifu Prefecture (Gifu Castle, Kawate Castle and Ōgaki Castle). I commend you for taking the initiative, but these castles already are tagged with . Adding the "Castles in Japan" category is redundant, as it is the parent category for "Castles in Gifu Prefecture." I just wanted to let you know. Douggers (talk) 02:23, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

After the Bay Harbor Pool Room is broken into and money stolen, Clarence Earl Gideon is charged with the crime. In the local court, he cannot afford a lawyer, but is not appointed one because he has no “special circumstances”. The jury convicts him and Gideon is sent to jail. Gideon petitions the Supreme Court to hear his case since he feels that the Constitution grantees him the right to a legal counsel, and the Supreme Court can review cases from the state courts that affect the Constitution. The Supreme Court agrees to hear his case and grants a writ of certiorari (issued for cases felt to be necessitating an appeal due to an error by the lower court or because of its importance). It was surprising that the court granted the writ because it had been established in a previous case, Betts v. Brady, that “special circumstances” are required to provide legal counsel. The Supreme Court decides that all people accused of a crime must be provided legal counsel if they cannot afford it. Gideon is tried again for the crime, and is found not guilty. The Supreme Court is in session from the first Monday in October until late June or early July. Both sides have a limited to present their arguments, during which the justices ask questions. Fortas and Jacob both present a history of the issue, including backing up their sides with previous cases, and presenting statistics and facts to support their arguments. One argument used by both sides is federalism. Fortas argues that in this case, the federal government should make the choice, since errors have been made by the states and the Constitution mandates a fair trial. Jacob says, from the opposing view, that the issue is best left in the hands of the states since they have handled it in the past and are closer to the issues in the trials. Jacob has trouble making his argument, as several cases previously had to go to the Supreme Court to be reversed, many prisoners in Florida jails have “special conditions”, and the justices point out that it is hard to determine “special cases”. The justices also mention that, although Gideon has no “special conditions”, he still is not properly qualified to properly defend himself or others. When opinions are written, justices rely on previous rulings, clauses within the Constitution, historical and current trends, and existing laws. The most senior judge for the winning side writes the majority opinion, while the most senior judge to vote for the side that loses writes the dissenting opinion, with both quoting similar material that they feel supports their side. If a justice agrees with the decision for a different reason, or wishes to clarify a point, they may pen a concurring opinion.Mmuroya (talk) 20:16, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
