I'm at a loss as to how you can interpret the discussions about

Signpost Corner, Ballacrye Corner and School House Corner as consensus to keep. Please review your closures, which, I note, contain no rationale. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 17:37, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply

Pigsonthewing,Philosopher. I apologize if you thought those decisions were incorrect. I made them because, in the Signpost Corner debate, no one other than the nominator voted for deletion, one person voted to merge, and everyone else voted some form of keep argument. The other two debates were similar. --Mr. Guye (talk) 21:53, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

AFD relisting

Can I please remind you again that we don't relist AFDs just because the discussion is finely balanced. We relist them when there has been insufficient discussion to accurately gauge consensus. An example is your relist of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PVS-Studio; this should have been closed (by an admin) as no-consensus, as nearly a dozen editors had contributed with no consensus in any direction. The relist button is not a tiebreaker option when the discussion is tied. Stifle (talk) 10:03, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Stifle: As I have heard, you can relist a discussion twice without a rationale if the discussion is even. That discussion has only been relisted once before I had relisted it. What did I do wrong? --Mr. Guye (talk) 22:32, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your listings at RfD

Section title says it all, but thanks once again. You always have a good reason when you list them (except for "gawd", which you immediately withdrew, and that is a mark of your honesty and good faith.) Thanks for helping make WP better. Si Trew (talk) 19:18, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the thanks, no need. I am somewhat wordy and also harsh at RfD, others moreso. Oddly compared to AfD and so on, we do not stand on ceremony on rules (I was told off for kinda trying to when I forgot a "not" when I was "not" trying to), but all you bring are sensible, even if the consensus makes you a minority.
I like RfD a lot because it is a springboard for me to look at articles to improve them, and as Louis MacNeice put it, "The drunkenness of things being various". One minute we are discussing what a Greek theta looked like in Mesopotamic runes and the next what to do with Penguinone, and since I am a jack of all trades it just kinda suits me that I can have this roving contract. I think you do too, so just bung 'em in when you fancy, I tend to mop up and do the research and then others come in with considered opinions.
I don't win very often though. But what matters is to make the encyclopaedia better. This is an amazing, brilliant, resource, that we made. On our own, out of love, and not a penny paid, because it's important. I really believe the vision, not when I am shouting at the screen saying WHEN I PUT AN
work avoidance now. The thanks are genuine, though. Si Trew (talk) 23:42, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply

Practical phonetic training

I’m sorry, but I cannot accept your opinion of my draft of Practical Phonetic Training. The article attempts to summarize the process whereby people become trained as expert phoneticians, an area of essential importance in the subject and one which is currently overlooked by WP. Your judgment implies that I have written something that is like a personal essay, that my sources are not secondary, reliable sources and that the article contains original research. What I wrote is in no way a statement of my personal views, but a synthesis of what has been written on the subject by the most influential phoneticians of the 20th century (Daniel Jones, David Abercrombie and Peter Ladefoged), and in all cases I have quoted from what they have written as general surveys rather than as advocacy for a particular point of view. As regards your accusation of writing OR, what I wrote was what any university department that teaches phonetics might put in its prospectus; its tone is entirely neutral and factual. I have been a professional in the field of phonetics for nearly fifty years, and my published work includes contributions to encyclopedias and dictionaries, so I think I am capable of telling when I am writing original research and when I am not. Hello Mr. Guye! Thank you for your feedback on this. I would love to make your suggested improvements and would like your advice as to how to go about it. In your message, you advised that the article did not “adequately show notability” and that I should add more “secondary reliable sources that are independent of the subject”. Can you clarify what these sources might be? I have already included many secondary sources from established publications – do you recommend adding more of the same or a different kind entirely? There is a wealth of published information on Mr. DeLucie so I am sure I will be able to locate the required information with your guidance.

Thank you again, Rachel

Thank you

thank you

I just wanted to thank you for all your intelligence and hard work that you do at

WP:RfD
. I will not always agree with you, but your intelligence shines out of you. Wish I could play a musical instrument, I can tell you how to play one, but never somehow can connect my brain to my hands, not bad on the bugle or the comb and paper, wind stuff, but that's a doddle, strings are really tricky. Had a nice 1930s piano for a couple of years and managed to balance a pint glass on top of it. Well well, we can't all do everything. It's weird isn't it, i am excellent at carpentry and can do that which is brain hand coordination, but somehow can never connect them to a bit of catgut. Well, nice to listen to though, Strauss is good on the strings, and sounds better than a tenon saw (although if you know the trick for playing the saw, that will get you a few bob, I can do that, that is easy, you need the saw well greased and basically it acts harmonically up and down the saw so you get kinda a top A at the front and a low C at the back, depending on the size of saw, of course). I am also good at working a fiddle, but that's another story....

I didn't realise you were so young, you are so intelligent. You are going to be a star in whatever you choose to do. I kinda missed my boat, but i am content with what I have. Don't miss yours. Whatever you aim at, go for it 100% and just do it. do it. Don't harm anyone else but don't let them stand in your way. When my missus gets back from work, she will have dinner on the table. that's my job. And if you think that it will be crappy tea, you think again. Yesterday it was slow roast beef with onions, carrots, sweetcorn, and a mournaix sauce, served with a choice of wines and champagnes, all done for about a quid. I am fed up people putting me down on Wikipedia. They don't know how I live. They don't have to pull a three course meal out of a one room flat, with a cat in it. That gets fed properly. Si Trew (talk) 14:56, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's just age, really, who was it who said on his death bed "The night is young, but I have read all the books"? What I have is an extremely varied experience, I think, I have lived and worked in four different countries, I speak about six languages extremely badly, I know the difference between a
mandril and a mandrel, and that kind of thing. I am not by any means great, and don't think I am, but I have an extremely good memory, just fortune, things just go in and I remember them without needing to try. So I can pull the rabbit out of the hat on occasions, but that doesn't make me better than anyone else. Oh now I am turning into Uriah Heep, "I am so very umble". Hehehe better get back to RfD. AFD jokes

Hi Mr. Guye, Sorry to be a party-pooper,
Whilst I see the funny side to the AFDs some here don't (I've already been threatened with being dragged to ANI!) so I've closed your AFDs and I'd ask that you stop with nominating for jokes otherwise I think you're gonna end up being blocked and some here are I think tempted to block as it is!,
By all means ignore this and carry on but I don't think it'll end well , Anyway happy editing :) –

ZS Associates Draft Article

Hi Mr. Guye. Thanks so much for your assistance in continuing to move this through the process. Would reallly appreciate some further feedback if possible. In your message declining the article it mentions the sources used; however, only 2 of the 27 sources are owned properties of ZS Associates. And those sources are only used to verify office locations and leadership. Was this the only issue you saw? Just seeking some clarity, as we are happy to make any needed changes. Thx again, SusanChana (talk) 11:13, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Just checking back on this. I have resubmitted for your consideration. Unsure what else needs to be changed. Would appreciate any feedback. Thx! SusanChana (talk) 13:31, 20 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet notifications

Hi Mr. Guye, just an FYI re: this edit. You're not required to notify people that you suspect them of sockpuppetry. In fact, it's typically a good idea to not notify so that they don't get tipped off and start ramping up whatever vandalism they intended to commit, or jump to another sock. Since the user wasn't deemed a sock, you might consider removing the notice. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:09, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removing blacklisted links

When removing <ref>s using blacklisted links, as you did in this edit, please be sure not to leave orphaned refs behind (e.g. these). An easy way to check is to see if the page ends up in the hidden category Category:Pages with broken reference names after your edit. Thanks! jcgoble3 (talk) 03:09, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for reviewing Jackalope. I had a lot of fun working on the article, and I hope people enjoy reading it. Finetooth (talk) 23:00, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Thank you for the Quarter Million Award. Working usually on obscure topics, I've paid little attention to reader statistics over the years. I had no idea that Jackalope was so popular. I wondered at first how you had determined the statistic, but following the link to the award page, I now understand. Finetooth (talk) 23:37, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
