The website you cite doesn't quite hold up the article claim. It doesn't mention Charlton. Let's not split hairs - why not just lift the sentence from the website as a quote. --Dweller 13:23, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

- Amazing how many players have played for Spurs and the Canaries. Seems to have dried up in the last 8-10 years, but I can see Dean Ashton becoming a Spurs player one day. If only they'd not thrown all that money away on Bent... quite astonishing. --Dweller 13:58, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
I've done some small form fixes to your article. Just thought I'd bring this to your attention: the route section is just a blob of text. Chubs and Disambiguation
Greetings. Recently, on Tue 16 Oct, I constructed a disambiguation page for the various fish known as chubs. After having done so, I began to contemplate whether that page and the current Chub page might be better named. I posted a discussion on the Chub page but it's not yet received any comment. I noticed from the article's revision history that you had made one or more contributions to the page. Consequently, I thought I might profit from your advice at Talk:Chub#Page title if you have a moment or two to spare. Thanks. — Dave (Talk | contribs) 03:46, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

Empty geograpghic stubs such as Great Witchingham are a total waste of time and are liable to get deleted. Instead, work on one village at a time and create a decent little article about the village. -- RHaworth 08:50, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
Locks and Weirs on the Lee
Hi there, yeah I thought the same thing, but they did it recently to the River Thames: Locks and weirs on the River Thames, and it's working out ok. I think it just might need extra work sectioning Lock/Weir in each article. I think I've left a few rough edges in as well, which need working out. Let me know your thoughts. Cheers, James

Your guess is as good as mine - which incidentally is that Britannia and Bromley are the individual names for the two (stop) locks that are covered under Bow locks. I can't see any other explanation but whoever created the template is the one to ask. If that's right, it does not seem worth having separate articles for Brit and Brom as they can be covered under the combined article (with redirects). Regards Motmit (talk) 20:11, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Jimmy Greaves.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Jimmy Greaves.JPG. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before
Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!

Waltham Abbey
Hi Northmetpit, Hall Marsh, Turnershill Marsh and Hooks Marsh are not in the museum site so they can be visited any time merely by walking along the River Lee Navigation footpath. Once you are inside the Royal Gunpowder site there is free access to the areas outside the Waltham Abbey SSSI, but the SSSI area (last time I was there) could only be visited by, pre-booking at the the ticket office, and getting taken round on a "land train". I have seen Newton's pool several times. You may find it interesting to watch the DVD Enigma (2001 film), whilst the wikipedia article does not provide this information, some of the external shots were taken in the Waltham Abbey SSSI, possibly outside the fence at Turnershill Marsh/Hooks Marsh (or Newton's Pool - but I'm not sure about that) and, I suspect, in Powder Mill Lane. I've spent several enjoyable days going round the site within the last 7 or 8 years, but I also remember parts of it pre-1984. I would recommend a visit (a full day, at least). Random survey
Hi, This is a random survey regarding the first sentence on the Wikipedia policy page
- "The threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiability, not truth—whether readers can check that material in Wikipedia has already been published by a reliable source, not whether editors think it is true."
In your own words, what does this mean? Thank you. Regards, Bob K31416 (talk) 22:07, 20 August 2011 (UTC)
Spurs: Where is White Hart Lane in London?
Hello mate. You reverted my change. Why? Look at the map. WHL is in NE London. There might not be an NE postcode - although there was until the 1920s, covering Tottenham and Stamford Hill and Hackney - but it's not north London proper. Another point is that as well as Tottenham and Edmonton and Stamford Hill, the supporters traditionally come from Walthamstow and Hackney, and up the A10 from the East End, unlike Arsenal which is traditionally pure middle north London upwards. Can I change it back? If not, why not? I have been a Spurs and Orient fan for many years BTW. I live in NE London. Cheers Herbolzheim (talk) 22:09, 18 November 2011 (UTC)
NorthMetPit: Thanks for your message. Yes - I suppose it is splitting hairs. But this is an encyclopedia. THFC is on the absolute for east of Harringey and is in NE London, but yes it is usually referred to as a north London club. It's fan-base refelcts this. I can cite evidence of Eastend support from the 1900s. What do you think? Not going to die in a ditch over this, or even a North Metropolitan Pit.

Enfield Lock
Hi there Northmetpit, I notice various edits for Enfield Lock over the weekend changing the area to Hoddesdon. Can these be serious? I'm a bit out of touch with the area these days but I find it surprising! Pterre (talk) 11:18, 8 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Pterre (talk). Thanks for message. Yes, that does look odd. But according to the reference, correct. Can't say I fully understand it though. Northmetpit (talk) 11:22, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- I don't believe they are right. Looking at the map (http://http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1993/441/images/uksi_19930441_en_001) this suggests that the area to be transferred is (on the east side of Enfield) north of the M25 and therefore does not include any of the built-up area of Enfield Lock. Given that no-one has thought to move any of the area from Enfield to Broxbourne until the weekend, and bearing in mind that it would in theory have been a part of Broxbourne well before Wikipedia came into existence, this seems highly unlikely. Looking at the map it seems clear that the intended transfer is Enfield to Broxbourne to the north of the M25; Broxbourne to Enfield to the centre of the borough (of Enfield) and Enfield to Welwyn-Hatfield on the west side of the borough. So to recap I do not beiebve that any of the Enfield Lock built-up area was actually included, just bits to the north of the M25. Pterre (talk) 16:02, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Pterre (talk). I think you done the right thing in removing the text. It seemed to be a good faith edit. But on here who knows. I did a little bit of research and couldn't find any references concerning Waltham Cross South Ward.
- Not clear if they were mistaken or just mischief. Definitely Enfield Lock is L.B.Enfield as shown by the local councillor being based c/o Enfield Civic Centre. Also the London Borough boundary runs along the M25 from the west and includes the M25 within Enfield. At the River Lea (not the Navigation) it runs south, with Essex to the east. It (L.B.Enfield) includes Enfield Lock and Enfield Village Island. Pterre (talk) 14:53, 11 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, just want to ask about the revert. There was a "s" in the clubs name until 1968, so in my opinion this should be the right name. (Like it's the case for Allenby Chilton, Brian Clough etc.) --Ureinwohner (talk) 18:33, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

Chris Jones
Hello,
I am writing to you to ask you to please stop updating Chris Jones' page on Wikipedia, to say that he lives in Broadstairs, Kent.
This is not true.
As Chris's son, I am well placed to tell you that he is still on Jersey, where he has been since 1988.
I followed the reference that you posted today - to the site of Ramsgate Trinity FC - and the older gentleman in the photograph is not the same man as in the other four photos.
The signature on the photo above is also false.
I have contacted this gentlemen to ask him to remove all references to my father on his page immediately.
Should you wish to contact me to discuss further, don't hesitate. My e-mail address is [email protected]
Sincerely,
