Hi Tim Shell,
i was lead to your photo website from las vegas articles: http://www.timshell.com/pics.html
I have browsed some of your las vegas photos and others. I enjoyed them greatly!
I was wondering if i can use some of your photos on my own website. If you require credit, i'd be glad to credit it, and link back to your website if you like. Please let me know know. Thanks! Xah Lee P0lyglut 07:15, 2004 Jun 30 (UTC)

Hi. I just deleted Jin-Qua which you yourself marked as being deleted. However you better use {{delete}} instead of {{vfd}} for something which should be deleted without the need for discussion - if it is not a clear case you better do the complete vfd process. And maybe you had better moved the first version of your article to the new location, and then exchange the automatically created redirect with the delete note - that way it would be much less confusing to have a valid article in the history upon deletion. andy 09:50, 30 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Noble House
Great job on the Noble House characters. You might want to reconsider having links for all the minor and mentioned characters on the Noble House page, except maybe for the founding Struans. I think it would be great to have a Struan's family tree compiled from info in all three Struan's books at some point, but that would really be a lot of work. Thumbs up. --Aramgutang 01:39, 8 Aug 2004 (UTC)

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:NewYork-NewYork19.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{

Splitting the English Wikipedia into American and British English Wikipedias
I think this is a stupid silly idea (i'm glad you oppose). A much better solution would be to have an option in the preferences for each user to display the page with their own locality of english. I don't know how much this would sap power from the servers, but it would put a stop to the arguments. Also, you are on the board of trustees, so why does your talk page get so few posts? Meetups, events, US chapters
Hiya Tim,
There's currently some renewed discussion about whether and how to set up [a] US wikimedia chapter[s]. Among other things this could help better organize meetups, gatherings at large events and cons, and local outreach. You were interested in this before; there is a quiet mailing-list and a meta-page on the topic... both of which could use input and ideas. +sj + 17:36, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
Howdy, I noticed that you and I seem to post in one or two articles dealing with progressive issues in political science/sociology. There's currently a debate beginning in Boston Tea Party as to whether the article should include the category [1]. It meets definitions set in the articles Terrorism and Definition of terrorism, however, there are several self-proclaimed patriots who watch BTP who refuse to recognise the fact. The simple criteria for terrorism generally seem to be intimidation or destruction of property in order to change public policy or public opinion while a state of war has not yet been declared. Some users would rather use recent acts of terrorism as a yardstick, rather than using a firm definition, and hence lose their ability to discuss matters calmly. Would you be able to pop in to the Talk page and join in the discussion? Thanks much, samwaltz 05:23, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

You're Awesome Man!
Hi TimShell! I was recently on one of my favorite websites, Internet WayBack Machine. I started using wikipedia about a year ago and I became a wikipedian user in June 2008. Anyway, I wanted to see what wikipedia looked like back in 2001 using the virtual time machine when it first started. I clicked on the Recent Changes to see some of its users'. I noticed yours, went on wikipedia now and saw your userpage. Wow that's different. I even looked at some messages on your talk and were exactly the same. One of those messages included "...hero for changing RecentChanges to Recent Changes..." is this true? And who invented wikipedia's temporary slogan "the collabrative free encyclopedia" which I saw on your talk page also? Thank you for your time, TimShell! - entertainU (talk) 23:11, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity
Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. File:StVitus.jpg needs authorship information
The media file you uploaded as File:StVitus.jpg appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.
It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.
Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).
- If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which:
{{subst:usernameexpand|TimShell}}
will produce an appropriate expansion,
or use the {{own}} template.
- If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.

Nupedia
Hi Tim—
I've been futzing around with the early history of WP a little bit this week. It rapidly became obvious to me that WP wasn't a successor to Nupedia so much as it was a little auxiliary of the Nupedia project which took off and flew, while Nupedia stagnated and was terminated — the parallel fates of WP and Citizendium over the last 5 years seem a direct replay of events. In any event, I started to wonder about the form and content of Nupedia. Tale is told of a server crash in 2003 and the decision being made not to repair the server and to instead concentrate exclusively on the booming WP project.
Anti-vandalism at Nupedia seems to have been done by means of full dumps of the content, yes? Have any of these dumps survived? Do you have a file or know of anyone who might? And what became of the broken server — was it taken to a landfill or does it exist on someone's shelf somewhere? Do you happen to possess it or know who might?
I'd also be interested, if you'd like to make a contribution to history, in your thoughts on objectivism and Bomis/Nupedia/WP/Sanger/Wales. An essay by you or an interview with you on the degree of connection between the philosophy and the project, as well as your reaction to my somewhat flippant off-wiki observation that in practice Jimmy Wales at WP has demonstrated himself to be an excellent anarcho-syndicalist and a very poor Rand disciple (which I mean as high praise although you may differ). I've got no publication designs, but you're a guy to address that topic of history (how Wales got from point A to point B, intellectually) and there should be something in the archives for a serious scholar coming down the pike, don't you agree?
Email probably works best.
