Should this include Maundy Thursday for 2006? Warofdreams talk 09:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, yes, I wanted to add this. Too bad it carries a {{cleanup}} tag. So I left it out. -- PFHLai 10:09, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised that Apollo 13's Service Module explosion isn't posted. — Deckiller 23:42, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The explosion took place shortly after 10pm EST that evening, but already past midnight by UTC and therefore April 14. Pls see http://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/pao/History/Timeline/apollo13chron.html. --PFHLai 11:48, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent discussions have pointed out that the oxygen explosion occurred on April 13 relative to the parties involved. NASA sources cite April 13, and American sources cite April 13. Since local time is used whenever possible (even though there is no local time in space) it seems reasonable that the event should be listed on April 13. Placing it on April 14 contradicts with NASA sources which I would call the authority on the subject. -- Mufka (u) (t) (c) 15:25, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As an international community, Wikipedia is organized along UTC, and thus the main page and the events listed revolve around UTC, not the official local time of a specific region or country. And since the UTC time and date for this event is known, it should be listed on that UTC date. Zzyzx11 (talk) 02:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Corner Gas day

According to the official news release by the Government of Saskatchewan, it seems that this observance is only for this year 2009 to mark the airing of the final episode of Corner Gas. [1] If that is the case, if it is not going to be a regular holiday observed year after year with some international significance or interest (and Corner Gas#Broadcast and distribution currently does not mention if it is broadcast in multiple countries), then it does not belong on OTD. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 07:31, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also it was just reverted on the April 13 page. [2] Zzyzx11 (talk) 08:14, 11 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Poland event

Instead of the hostel fire (local news), the discovery of the Katyn massacre is a much more important (world news) event. From April 13:

It may be too late to change this for today, but I'd strongly suggest a switch for future April 13 anniversaries. PS. I see now that it was moved to March 5 for the 70th anniversary where it is still present. I'd suggest moving it back here, as the discovery date is more important and more known than signing the order for it date. Whether my above or old wording is better, I have no opinion. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 15:38, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Katyn

An entry for 1943 notes that on April 14 Germany announced "the discovery of a mass grave of Polish prisoners of war killed by Soviet forces," but fails to mention Katyn. Certainly a blurb about such a milestone event as the

Katyn Massacre should contain this infamous place-name, by which it is known everywhere. Sca (talk) 12:39, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply

Hi Howcheng, very pleased to see you've added Reculver for 2014 – the only snag is that the picture is of the present church, not the "miserable" one: that one was so miserable we don't have any pictures of it, and it was replaced in 1876 by the one in the picture! Sorry for the hassle, but I thought I ought to let you know. Would a slight re-word like this help?
Just a thought, maybe that's too long; hope it helps anyway. Cheers. Nortonius (talk) 06:15, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have to go with a new image then. Thanks for catching that.
