Hi, I am not here to start a war or anything, believe me! But I am an industry professional with 10 years of touchscreen phone ownership and use. I am very interested in all things mobile, so have read *a lot* of mobile phone and tablet computer reviews, articles and editorials.

Until reading Wikipedia I has not heard of the term "Slate" referring to any mobile device form factor. My first serious introduction to the term was a series of "rumour" articles for the iPad (some coining the names "iTablet", "iSlate"). Before that all touchscreen tablets were called just that; Touchscreen PC's or Tablet computers. Later, HP and Microsoft used the name "Slate" to refer to a class of Windows 7 tablet computers (e.g. the HP Slate).

I cannot find any articles that predate Wikipedia's entries that mention "Slate" as a form factor, or more specifically the "Slate Phone" form factor. I don't believe they exist.

Touchscreen phones were always referred to as "Touchscreen phones", "touchscreen smartphones" or just "smartphones". A great example is a review of one of my first smartphones from a respected review site, TrustedReviews: TrustedReviews Orange SPV M500 Review. Nowhere is the term "Slate" used and this phone could be argued to be physically very similar to an iPhone or Android phone (albeit with an antiquated OS). If it were a common industry term then it would have been mentioned in the detailed review at least once.

So I'm trying to build a consensus around the deletion of "Slate" as a mobile device form-factor (including in Apple iPhone articles) because I think it's a Wikipedia invention and not a term used widely in the industry. Anywhere it is used seem to come after the Wikipedia entries and I don't think it's Wikipedia's job to invent terms.

I had reverted it twice but Barts1a have reverted them back, just any non involved member, can post on his talk, and get this matter done. Well, every major antivirus software makes one for Mac, not a single of them are within this project. Similarly, Avast makes one for Windows, why it isn't a part of WP Windows/ Microsoft. As obvious, Apple WP should be covering 'Apple' products. Firefox runs for Windows but it isn't the part of the project and vice versa. Recently, I've presented some new information to add to Apple articles. I've asked for help to make the edits since the reference for the info is a book written by the founder of the company where I work, and I'm here on the company's behalf.

On the iOS page, an editor gave a positive reply to one of the new pieces of info — the market share for iOS — but didn't add it. I don't want to put this info into the article myself because of my conflict of interest. Can someone here help?

I recently made an RFC for an article covered by WikiProject Apple (Talk:Cydia#RfC), and one of the suggestions for publicizing an RFC is to post to the talk page of a relevant WikiProject. But this talk page says "This page is for discussion of the project only." - perhaps that text should be adjusted to invite article content dispute resolution notices as well? In connection with editing an article on SHSH blob I would like some input on what it exactly does. I commented here that I understand that it is just an authentication key iTunes need to see before the firmware is allowed onto the device and the key corresponds to the version of firmware on the device. I read on the Umbrella thingy and it looks like the key can be stored locally, then the software simply has to forward the iTunes call back home and present it back as its coming from home. It looks like that simplest explanation is that device needs to be presented with the key corresponding to whatever version firmware that will be loaded and presented by a means of "respoding back" to its "call for home" thus the use of very specific brand name software or single supplier server service such as Cydia is not a requirement for rollback. assessment criteria to be listed as a B class article. You can simply assess it yourself by inserting the template listed on the Wikiproject banner into the Wikiproject banner template "code", however make sure assess the article correctly so important articles that do need be improved aren't classified incorrectly. Hi! I'd appreciate a little extra input into what is now becoming an edit war on the iOS 7 article regarding the inclusion of a proportionally large criticism section. I have opened a talk discussion there, yet IP editors keep re-adding the section despite a lack of reliable sources, and the fact that it causes extreme bias. I don't know whether semi-protection is warranted, but it'd be good if some people could help back me up; I don't want to fall foul of 3RR, so I can't protect it myself any more. One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Changes:

• Total makeover of MacOS section, splitting non-mainline-items into a new sub-section and splitting classic and MacOS into sub-sections
• Total makeover of the Apple I/II/III/Lisa section, removing Apple I as it has no Apple OS and clarifying what OS goes with what line of computer
• Within each list or parenthesized sub-list, Re-order items by approximate initial release date in all sections
• Add a link to the related category Category:Apple Inc. operating systems at the bottom
• Add some other wikilinks and other minor changes

If there are no serious unresolved objections within a week, I plan on implementing the change. Infobox: fonts with OS X

Given how popular OS X is with designers, I thought an infobox listing fonts bundled with OS X and their Wikipedia articles would be nice. (Windows has one.) So I've modified that for OS X as of Yosemite and put it up on my sandbox. Any thoughts? I've just done the Western alphabets for now. (Tried doing this a while back but could never get my head round the coding then.) I think this would be nice on articles for some of the fonts most strongly associated with OS X such as Hoefler Text, Chalkboard, Menlo, Monaco and so on. Blythwood (talk) 23:55, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

I actually think it's OK. The iPhone article, which should really be more a description of the features and cultural impact of the iPhone would become very lumpy with lots of tables of release dates and that this feature was added with iOS 4.2.7 or whatever.
