Bilozerske (Ukrainian: Білозерське, IPA: [b⁽ʲ⁾iɫoˈzɛrsʲke] ; Russian: Белозёрское) is a city in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine. Population: 14,634 (2022 estimate).[1] In a city of 14 thousand inhabitants, about 11 thousand remain.[2]

History

It was founded in 1913 as a

khutir by re-settlers from Melitopol county, Taurida Governorate.[citation needed
]

In 1930, the land around khutir was added to the Soviet state farm "Bolshevichok".

The settlement was transformed soon after the World War II when near it was established a coal mine "Dobropillia" in 1947.

In 1966, the urban-type settlement became a city.[3][4] In 1969, the population of the city was 20.6 thousand people. The basis of the economy was coal mining.[5]

In the 1980s the basis of the economy was coal mining and a mineral water plant.

In January 1989, the population of the city was 21.1 thousand people.[3]

In January 2013 the population was 16,101 people.[6]
