Ukraine

I'm actually surprised our coverage in English of Ukrainian geographic topics isn't that strong. I always thought it was rather good, actually - I'm surprised by the number of redlinks on that page. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 20:05, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

Do - we need more geo-stubbers. I haven't quite decided what I'm going to be doing next - I just got back last night from two weeks away. I have a few ideas, though. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:31, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
It's been an incredibly mild summer here, too - we were in the northeast (upstate New York, Massachusetts mostly), and I couldn't believe how pleasant and cool the weather was. Nothing like the soup we usually have to put up with around here. It's been a nice summer here at home, too...though I have my fears that August won't be so nice at all. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 01:25, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
It's been a mild summer in LV, too... I don't think that it's exceeded 110°F, but like Ser said, August might be bad. I added the coords to those houses. Yeah, it would be nice to improve the
Millenium Biltmore Hotel. Stayed there over the weekend. Absolutely beautiful. Felt like I was on the set of a 1920s movie. --Rosiestep (talk

@Mabalu: Indeed, not as good, but not bad! We might get it up to GA with a bit of work, what do you think?♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:46, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

Sounds good - I was just musing about whether to nominate Polonaise (clothing) for my first GA nom... I have never done a GA project before! OK, Doc. There are copies at the Libaray of Congress "Chronicling America" project, but right now, when I try for it, I get a message that the project is temporarily offline for maintenance. @

Stefan2: What on earth are you doing??? I haven't added any new next in my user space. I spent half the day cleaning it up and overhauling the sourcing and beginning to rewrite. This is beyond crazy and copyright paranoia to say the least!! You blanked the page I've been working hard on all day because why exactly, because I didn't realize some of the photos were fair use?? Should I attribute the article on my wikipedia space talk page? I'm happy to do that if I really must but it's ludicrous to delete what I've been working so hard on today!! First I've heard of this, @SchroCat:, @Cassianto: and @Tim riley: all regularly work on existing articles in their user spaces to improve them. I've reverted your absurd blanking and copyright banner Stefan and have simply commented out the images which aren't free as you should have done. What was the point in swiping the whole article and leaving this warning? Didn't I warn you about drilling me last week??♦ Dr. Blofeld
21:38, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Stefan, don't be so ridiculous. Leaving a "welcome to Wikipedia" tag on the talk page of someone who has been here since August 2006 is absurb and pointless. Not everyone appreciates at the time an article is copied over for a re-working that the non-free images need blanking out, but to throw around tags and template experienced users is unhelpful. You have thrown a tag on there rather than doing what you should have done: leave a note to remind Blofeld to comment out (or use the [[:file: format) on the non free images. That's just lazy, I'm afraid, and does nothing but wind people up, when taking an extra 30 seconds to leave a personalised note would be so much more helpful and less stressful to all. Please do guard against such knee-jerk actions in future: it only reflects badly on you, no-one else. - SchroCat (talk) 22:04, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
When you reuse Wikipedia content, on Wikipedia itself or elsewhere, you always need to provide attribution. Failure to provide attribution is copyright violation. --
Stefan2 (talk
) 22:08, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
Stefan2 well done on piling further arrogance onto your first message. As above, leaving a "Welcome to Wikipedia" tag on someone who has been here since 2006 is, bluntly, pointless and stupid. Next time, dont be so lazy: leave a message to remind, rather than a knee-jerk tag that makes you look like a total idiot. - SchroCat (talk
) 22:17, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
I'm NOT reusing content, I'm rewriting/building the content in a frickin sandbox. As for several of the fair use images, I wasn't to know that light show had uploaded copyrighted images, I presumed they were all free. Frankly I'm sick to death of your obsession with copyright and spamming me with messages. You're not welcome here any longer.♦ Dr. Blofeld 05:45, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
I may have seen more fatuous and arrogant behaviour on Wikipedia than Stefan2 displays here, but I can't think when it was. This is perfectly ridiculous. I once had a fair use image deleted from my sandbox in similar circumstances (years ago, before I appreciated that this was not permitted), which was the right thing to do: that administrator had the brains and decency not to interfere with the text, and just left me a human message on my talk page civilly explaining the position. If Stefan2 imagines that mediocre articles magically turn into good or featured ones without undergoing extensive work in sandboxes he/she should consult some grown-up editors. I have two articles copied and pasted into my sandboxes at present for overhaul, and if Stefan2 tries to interfere with them I will institute a report for vandalism seeking a block. Tim riley talk 06:03, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
...and that is exactly what I see here Tim, vandalism. This editor is clearly from the "tag it and scarper" community on WP and really ought to go and do something good with his time.
Stefan2, your patronising tags do nothing other than to annoy and bemuse and welcoming Dr. B to the project is like welcoming Tim Berners-Lee to a beginners course in computers. Cassiantotalk
07:31, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
It's true that Stefan2 just makes him/herself look ludicrous here, but imagine if s/he had done the same thing to a newish editor who was tentatively beginning his or her first major overhaul. It would have been another promising contributor scared off Wikipedia by bullying and stupidity. It makes me angrier the more I think about it. Tim riley talk 14:44, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Skagen Painters

I've done a bit more work on the Skagen Painters, including a few mini-biographies of the main members of the group. I am wondering whether to add a few more but do not want to overdo it or duplicate what is already in the history. I think the article is approaching GA standard at the moment but would welcome any advice or additions you would like to make.--Ipigott (talk) 11:21, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

@Ipigott: Actually I was concerned there was too much bio info. I'd expect an article on them to have a sizable section examining style and techniques and another discussing themes and motifs, examining the nature of their work.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:28, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for your speedy response and useful comments. But I must have completely misunderstood your remarks last year about the need to cover the members of the group. I think it's rather difficult to generalize on styles as there were considerable differences between the individual painters - even between Anna and Mikael Ancher, for example. I have tried to condense some of this into the individual bios but I could perhaps include a new section addressing the reaction to the traditional academy styles, especially in Denmark and Norway, the influence of French impressionism, and the relationship with the Modern Breakthrough movement in literature led by Georg Brandes. As for themes, I could expand on the plein air approach adopted by some of the painters in the earlier years. In contrast, in later years there was an increasing trend towards indoor works including figure painting indoors. Do you think more explanations along these lines would help? Should the biographies be deleted?--Ipigott (talk) 12:18, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

I don't think you misunderstood me Ian, you just disagree! Is there really no content in sources which discusses their paintings as works of art and provide critical commentary? I would expect a paragraph or two commenting on the some of the most notable ones and examining themes and styles, or at least a summary description of the most notable ones as pieces of art. As you suggested the background in painting and then a description of some of the most notable paintings would go a long way I think. What I'd do is add an "Artistic style" section with a paragraph on the background and general style and then convert your gallery into a brief description by painting in some nice sentences and paragraphs in chrono order.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:35, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

@Ipigott: Just looking, you have actually commented a fair bit on the paintings in the min biography sections by painter which looks pretty much covered. I'll try to see if I can find more tomorrow, it's looking in very good shape now.♦ Dr. Blofeld 21:03, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I immediately tried to follow up on your useful suggestions. I have plenty more material myself and will try to strike a balance between the artistic comments on the individual artists and the more general section on style and motifs. Something could perhaps also be said about how the students of the artists concerned benefited from the approach. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any other highly rated articles on artists' colonies, the best I could find was Taos art colony. I think it might also be useful to include a section on exhibitions.--Ipigott (talk) 05:55, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Perhaps you could help to improve the lead on the basis of recent additions. Then, unless you see any other important gaps, it might be worth going for a GA review which itself could help to resolve any shortcomings. I think the article now covers all the essentials.--Ipigott (talk) 12:44, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

FLC review request

Hi. Hope you're well. I was wondering if you had some time to review another film accolades list I've nominated. This time for last year's Best Picture winner "12 Years a Slave" and the largest accolades list on Wikipedia. Article and FLC. Cowlibob (talk) 19:51, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Good job! Will try to look tomorrow!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:57, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to bump this but was wondering if this week was better time for you to review? Cowlibob (talk) 14:56, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

My apologies, I knew there was something somewhere I'd forgotten. I'll take a look at it shortly.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:01, 23 August 2014 (UTC)

Haven't found any PD photos. I removed the watermark and reduced the size since this is non-free. If you ask an admin, he/she will delete the older version. Hope this helps, We hope (talk) 13:36, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

@We hope: thanks for that, can @Crisco 1492: delete the original? I thought the magazine image was better than normal photo as it partly illustrates what is mentioned in the article.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:38, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

No worries-I didn't crop the photo out of the magazine cover. I used a site called shrink pictures to shrink the size of the cover. ;) Tried looking through U of Wisconsin's Lantern search because there are a lot of older issues of Cine Mundial available there. Thought we might be able to get a PD one through that, but no luck there. We hope (talk) 13:44, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

14:01, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Let me take some time to look at this. Saw that his illustrations and photos are from the New York Historical Society. Their site has some very nice photos and illustrations but want to see what's going on re: permissions. The Historical Society has some "fine print" about it. Even though the illustration or photo is old, we have to learn when it was published. We hope (talk) 14:45, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

@We hope: No rush or priority to upload them! They are very interesting though old city photograph books and discovering defunct buildings and companies.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:46, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

This is from the Museum of the City of New York-a slightly different photo of the Rhinelander Sugar House. I think this one is also from circa 1890s and would probably believe both were taken just before the building was razed. Had also seen some illustrations that said the building was turned into a residence circa 1850s. We hope (talk) 15:11, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Yeah more likely to be 1892 than 1875. I'm not sure though how any US institution can claim copyright under US law on 19th century works which were published well before 1923.♦ Dr. Blofeld 15:14, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

If you look at the sites of those who try to restrict the use of PD items, more often than not, you'll see them trying to sell prints of them. ;) Otto Perry is a similar case in point. His hobby was photographing trains and he was more than happy to share copies of his work with fellow train buffs. After he died, his photo collection went to the Denver Public Library, who doesn't permit non-commercial use of the photos. Many times I've seen postcard photos on eBay which were taken by Perry and shared with other train hobbyists. (Those who did a lot of photgraphing and sharing would use a stamp for their name and address.) I pass them by re: uploading as PD, lest there be an issue with DPL as to whether or not the photo was "borrowed" from their collection. We hope (talk) 15:40, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Greetings Dr. Blofeld. Many thanks for your notice! I am very sorry I didn't reply to you earlier. I'm not so fluent in English, it always takes me long time to write a complete paragragh.
About the Taiwanese films list, I'll consider to develop it in the future. But I wonder what is the criteria for which film should be included, and which not? Since we already have

Ha, I don't like to decide which film is important. But film critics like to. I can say I don't like Luis Buñuel or Jacques Tati, but I can not deny the importance of them. In fact, I don't often watch Chinese-language films. I like American and European films better. I guess you have a great knowledge of world cinema, I hope one day I will be knowledgeable enough to cooperate with you in article editing.
By the way, I see you have created Wikipedia:WikiProject Tibet, but the infobox shows "Welcome to WikiProject China"? Is that needs to be fixed? I'm not so sure.

Wikiwand

The wand is impressive - visually a lot more modern. I think for a general reader it would only be an improvement - although it does seem to slow down sometimes. It is a bit challenged by short footnotes, but who checks footnotes anyway? For an editor there are some gaps. I don't see "what links here", don't see redlinks, can't click beside a heading to edit the text etc. and would be constantly alternating from one skin to another when editing. I think I will stick with the old skin for now. But it is impressive. Aymatth2 (talk) 18:10, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

It is interesting that it puts all pics on the right, and adapts well as the window is made smaller. Try resizing to about 2", like a phone. Try a page like this one with a warning on the top at 2" wide - horrible. Aymatth2 (talk) 18:34, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
I've started an article on
WikiWand
. Please feel free to extend. Maybe it will also attract some constructive criticism and suggestions for improvement.
I like the overall approach but I think we should try to do something about selecting the top image. Maybe we could devise a way of indicating which images are most appropriate. I am very happy, for example, at the WikiWand pages on Luxembourg, Skagen, Stege and our own local resort Råbylillestrand on Møn but am amazed by France, Italy, Belgium, [1] and Canada, not to mention Aalborg on which we spent so much time and effort. Don't you think we should get a discussion going somewhere on all this? As the interface seems to be so popular with Chrome and Firefox, Wikipedia stands to suffer from this kind of random selection. Any contructive ideas? I have also found that when I am running WikiWand, all my other applications (including standard Wikipedia) slow down considerably. It would be interesting to have some data on how much processing capacity it is eating up.--Ipigott (talk) 16:27, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
I've raised a question on WikiWand's Facebook page asking how the cover images are chosen, as it does appear to be a bit random. Eric Corbett 17:24, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
The reply from WikiWand is here. Not sure how much that helps. Eric Corbett 17:53, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

I've looked through his Athena project which presents some interesting ideas, especially the different priorities for reading and editing, but I do not see any major improvements over the "readability" of WikiWand.--Ipigott (talk) 21:23, 22 August 2014 (UTC)

Editor of the Week

I nominate Dr. Blofeld. It is very hard to think of any superlatives which could reasonably be applied to any editor around here which probably haven't been applied to Dr. Blofeld at least once already. This editor has been responsible for the creation and development of a staggering number of high quality articles in all areas. That demonstrates his strong desire to truly make a free encyclopedia which is available to all. His recent efforts in helping review and thus improve more articles developed by others shows a degree of selflessness one doesn't often see in some content generators. In the process of doing all this he has also demonstrated an amazing capacity at competence in a wide range of fields.

St. John's, Manchester

I see a copyright note at the upper left of them both-for Manchester Libraries. We would need to know a firm date on them and see if the library is showing these photos online and why there's a copyright notation on them. US law doesn't emphasize when the photo was taken so much as when the photo was available to the public. File:EzraPound&IsabelPound1898.jpg This was taken in 1898 in the US but not seen by the public until about 1985. I can try using tineye on them to see if anyone else has the photos on the internet and what those sites, if any, have to say about the photos. We hope (talk) 19:22, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Would it be worth asking permission to use them under a CC license?♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:24, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

OK, have found where they came from Here's the fine print on the front page of the government site: "These images are made available for personal enjoyment or private study only. Anyone wishing to reproduce, exhibit, or make commercial use of an image in any medium (including books, newspapers, television, films, public exhibitions, websites or computer programmes) must first seek permission from Manchester Archives and Local Studies."
They have a Flickr photostream and I checked it--all photos they've uploaded there are marked as copyrighted (even postcards!). Basically, it looks like if they have it, they're going to insist it's under copyright. You can try asking them to release either or both photos under a CC license we can use with WP/Commons. I've yet to do this but my time is at hand. :) We're working on Joan Robinson Hill and there are no free photos of the music room in the home, Asked about one being allowed as fair use and the answer was no, so I need to contact the realtor who last had the home as a listing for sale to see if they will give us just one photo of the music room. We hope (talk) 19:46, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

Interesting article choice on Joan! Perhaps @Sitush: could contact the archives and show them the article and why it's needed?♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:03, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

A lot of these things - eg: the postcards - are not in fact theirs to copyright. This is why Commons/WMF got into a big row with the National Portrait Gallery, who claimed that the website photographs of their holdings were copyright even though the paintings/original photos etc themselves were not. NPG lost, sort of: put it this way, Commons still allowed them to be uploaded but there is a license acknowledging the dispute. - Sitush (talk) 20:05, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
There is no point in speaking to MCC because I already know that they will say no. But they're talking bollocks as far as I am concerned. - Sitush (talk) 20:07, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

I think that's a great shame, that they're so wrapped up in themselves that they're unwilling to help a worthwhile cause documenting the history of the city. I suppose there are mugs around who'll actually pay for things they claim to own the copyright for, that's the main reason..♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:19, 24 August 2014 (UTC)

You've hit the nail on the head. A word in the ear of the likes of Yann at Commons might produce results. It was Yann who told me recently that, for example, Commons just assumes that something that was available in the UK pre-1923 is assumed to have been available in the US then. - Sitush (talk) 20:22, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
See, for example, the license here. - Sitush (talk) 20:36, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
I've now checked with Yann at Commons and it seems that we are good to go with at least one image (and there may be more from that photographer which we could upload). I'm just not sure whether to crop the "Copyright Manchester Libraries" from the things. See here. - Sitush (talk) 13:29, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Excellent. Are you going to upload it? The article should pass GA as it is now, did you still want to add more?♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:32, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Done. It is a shame that I cannot track down J. Jackson. He may well be the photographer who had a studio in Rochdale but without confirmation I cannot ascertain his date of death & so we cannot use some rather impact-ful images that he produced. I may try to contact the Manchester Amateur Photographic Society and see if they know anything about him.
I've no idea if this one meets GA or not. I'm pretty sure that there is more information out there but if you want to nominate it the feel free. - Sitush (talk) 11:04, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Oops!

Sorry, I didn't see your post re: Fred Gómez Carrasco until now. Even with removing the watermark from this, it's probably not PD. This is a retouched (1974) AP photo. Library of Congress information: "However, the Library’s legal office has advised the Division that photographs published with proper copyright notices between 1923-1963 may be protected if properly renewed, while works published after 1963 and unpublished photographs in the collection may be protected even if they were not registered with the Copyright Office." So looking it up and finding nothing may not mean it's free. Are you still having problems with getting notified from Newspapers.com? I had trouble-not with the WP notification, but with the one from Newspapers.com. MS kept refusing to even put the e-mail into spam/junk until I listed newspapers.com as a trusted domain on the Outlook web interface for my account. You might try dropping User:Drinknews this person a line on his tal page as he works for newspapers.com. We hope (talk) 18:12, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Renom it, I'll review it.♦ Dr. Blofeld 09:21, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Music maestro please...

Yesterday I bought two tickets to go and see Ennio Morricone at the O2 in London. I shall be thinking of you when he performs Once Upon a Time in the West. For my sins, I paid nearly £400 for the tickets, but the guy is easily 86 and I figured that he wouldn't be performing for ever. Cassiantotalk 18:15, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Wow!!! I reckon it'll be worth every penny, he's one of the greatest composers of all time. Once Upon a Time in the West IMO is the greatest film track of all time. Yundi Li and Morricone The Mission is also right up there. It would be an honour to hear him in person!♦ Dr. Blofeld 18:21, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

My thoughts entirely; just going through some of his credits now; how about Bugsy, Once Upon a time in America, The Untouchables, The Thing, Cinema Paradiso, Wolf, Shadow Makers and of course The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly? In fact, he has done so many films his imdb page struggles to load! Cassiantotalk 18:53, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

GBU and OUATIA possible candidates for greatest film ever made of course too!♦ Dr. Blofeld 19:20, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Ah Ying 1983.jpg

A tag has been placed on

section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion
, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Keswick, Cumbria

Greetings from Keswick, dear Doctor! I have been overhauling the article, as I think you know, and it is now at peer review where any comments you may like to make will be gladly received, if you have time and inclination to look in, Tim riley talk 17:16, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

Excellent, will try to look at it tomorrow!♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:45, 28 August 2014 (UTC)

The Wrath of the Gods (1914 film)

I have expanded the lead section and worked on the references. It has enough content for a GA and is in a much better state.--Skr15081997 (talk) 10:37, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

@Skr15081997: I managed to find a load of reviews in Newspaper.com! Quite scary really what that resource has! The film is now at GAR, good job! Metropolis (1927 film) is one I've also been meaning to promote, interested?♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:38, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

@We hope: Can you find any free images for The Wrath of the Gods (1914 film)? ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:39, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Doc, I think there are some in the magazines at Lantern--let me see what I can get and upload from there. We hope (talk) 12:42, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response! There's some images which show up in a google search. They should be PD old.♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:44, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

(edit conflict)Dr. Blofeld, it is a great idea. I am not old enough at Wikipedia to have access to Newspaper.com. There are several silent film articles that have the scope to be GA. All of them need huge work. I will work on Metropolis film. I hope that it will a wonderful and learning experience. While working on the German actors' articles for DYK I came across Dr. Mabuse the Gambler and Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (I am unable to recall the correct name). There are many more.--Skr15081997 (talk) 12:56, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Cabinet definitely, one of the greatest films ever made. Highly rated in my

User:Dr. Blofeld/Great films list! Un Chien Andalou too would be worth doing. For Metropolis, the sourcing needs overhauling and ordering first I think.♦ Dr. Blofeld

On a related note, take a look at the photo of File:Tsuru Aoki (ca. 1915).jpg. The current copy came from NYPL's online collection. Here's part of the metadata: "Copyright holder:This image is the property of The New York Public Library. For each use, you must contact:
The New York Public Library, Photographic Services & Permissions, Room 103, 476 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY 10018; 212-930-0091, fax: 212-930-0533, email: [email protected]. Using an image from The New York Public Library for publication without payment of use fees and official written permission is strictly prohibited."
"Copyright status Copyrighted".
Now, I just found a complete copy of this photo with the photographer's name ,etc. intact and the exact copy of it is in Motion Picture News for 1914. Am going to fix the problem so there's no misunderstanding that NYPL most certainly does NOT own a copyright to the photo, as they can't claim they are even the first to publish it. :( We hope (talk) 13:34, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

These institutions really have to stop wrongly claiming copyright on PD images..♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:38, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

(edit conflict)I agree that the article needs a lot of work. The plot section is too long, several short sections are there and a great amount of unsourced content needs proper sourcing.--Skr15081997 (talk) 13:40, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Side note-"Enid Markey, one of the leading women for the New York Motion Picture Company, who was badly injured in the taking of The Wrath of the Gods, has now nearly recovered." Motion Picture News page 56, May 23, 1914. We hope (talk) 14:13, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Doc, I've uploaded 11 photos from the magazines at Lantern. We hope (talk) 16:35, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Media related to The Wrath of the Gods (1914 film) at Wikimedia Commons

That's awesome, thanks!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:42, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

Comprehensiveness-wise the Metropolis article is OK but it needs great work on references, MOS etc. I condensed the paragraphs under the Production section but it was reverted. The article was delisted because of POV issues. It's going to be a bit tough this time.--Skr15081997 (talk) 09:35, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Blofeld, I don't suppose you could cast your eye at the pre-FAC PR review for the Who here? Some other editors are working through it, but it's a bit of a long slog so it might be worth someone tackling it from the end of the article backwards. Any help you can give would be very much appreciated. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:14, 29 August 2014 (UTC)

I scanned the cover to My Generation (album) in four different scans and photoshopped them together to create the image of the original (British) cover that has remained until recently. GAN request: Steuart Wilson

I have just discovered that an article to which I contributed substantially a fair while ago has been much expanded and improved by another editor, and has been languishing in the GAN queue since June. I can't review it, having contributed to its earlier versions, and I wonder if you would be willing to take it on, or failing that if you can suggest who else might be willing? Tim riley talk 21:04, 31 August 2014 (UTC)

If the good doctor is too busy, then I could oblige in a day or two. Cassiantotalk 22:05, 31 August 2014 (UTC)
Well, you both obliged, bless you! Please see attached IOU for one review of your choice each at some future point. Tim riley talk 18:59, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
Yeah, sometimes two doing a review can be more constructive, especially when you have arguably the greatest reviewer on the website doing half the review, and I don't mean me!! (Plus we lost an infobox :-) ) I think Brian is probably the toughest reviewer we have though when he digs deep! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:24, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
