Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Ec-waterblob.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on

48 hours after 12:33, 12 August 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 12:33, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply

Images are of our own property i've put the public domain release noticed since the upload Airwolf754 (talk) 12:42, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged this image as of dubious copyright. You are claiming that you were literally on the plane and took the picture - and that it was not a work produced for the company involved but a personal snapshot (otherwise, the company/agency would own the copyright). Unless you are claiming that you represent the EXA. If either of these are true, you will probably have to clear the images through the OTRS system: see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Rmhermen (talk) 13:08, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, how you do that?. And by the way, i DO represent EXA AND the Ecuadorian Air Force Airwolf754 (talk) 13:21, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I suspected as much which is why I mentioned it. First you need to be aware of, and follow, our
conflict of interest policy. Note that we encourage even people with a conflict of interest to submit images. For the images, you need to be certain that you have control over the images - if they are personal snapshots, be certain the company/agency doesn't have rights to work produced during working hours, or if they are agency photographs that you have authority to release them and to license them under one of our licences. Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission#Declaration of consent for all enquiries is a good summary of the text suggested and briefly explains how the images could be used. If you are in legal control of the images, you could email me with that text (including your signature and the file as an attachment) and I could submit it through the permissions system. Also I would not suggest using the public domain license myself. The GFDL license (our default) or the CC-by licenses (considered by some better for images) require that any other user acknowledge you as the source and creator of the image. Rmhermen (talk) 13:56, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply
]

And what is your AUTHORITY for that? We are official entities of the Ecuadorian government, and for that i need to know who are you and who do you represent for that you need to submit form code GRE-PID-8756-004 by fax, signed with a copy of a valid ID proof to the number +593-42-835740 clearing that you officially represent Wikipedia.org site Airwolf754 (talk) 14:04, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are free to submit the information to the OTRS system yourself. I was only trying to be helpful. However note that you have uploaded two images which may soon be deleted from our site for unclear copyright status. You have taken to images which may be copyright of the Ecuadorian government and released them for free use for any purpose by anyone anywhere for ever. Do you have that authority? Or are the images you personal property? We cannot host illegal images on this site and therefore we need to take certain steps to protect our project as well as to respect other's rights. There may be no problem here at all. All I am asking is for you to confirm that. Rmhermen (talk) 19:31, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I Am in representation of EXA, i only wanted to contribute, and as for the image of the kid flying with the flag, it is a PUBLIC image we released to Associated Press the day of the record, you can find it anywhere as the picture appeared in more than 7000 media around the world, just Google the name Jules Nader and you will see the same picture over and over again, or you can go to EXA's website http://exa.ec/indnews and see the collection of some of the articles. just a few follow: http://www.worldrecordsacademy.org/amazing/youngest_passenger_on_wheightless_flight-world_record_set_by_Jules_Nader_80264.htm http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/bbc-2.jpg http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/AP.jpg http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/wpost.jpg http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/mherald.jpg http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/nypost.jpg http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/bostonglobe.jpg http://www.exa.ec/indnews/poseidon/lenquirer.jpg

As for the other picture, again only wanted to contribute, EXA follows a media policy similar to NASA's, unless specified all published material is public domain.

Deleted them if you want, we don't lose anything, wikipedia loses, not us. Airwolf754 (talk) 21:31, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. If you can point me to a copyright statement on the EXA website, we would be able to use these and more. Just because a image is widely used on the internet; however, doesn't make it free. I hope you can understand our need to not violate others' rights. Rmhermen (talk) 23:36, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

EXA

As you there, perhaps you would clear up some questions about the EXA to improve the article? *Is this a civilian governmental agency? Or a public-private partnership? Is it fully publicly funded? The few online sources I find are unclear to me. "EXA, una corporación sin fines de lucro" does not sound like a government agency.

  • Are its employees all also Ecuadorian Air Force members? Or some? Or none?
  • What is the relationship of Space Adventures to the EXA? Is EXA developing any spacecraft?

Rmhermen (talk) 20:02, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

EXA structure is similar to the Russia's RossKosmos, a civilian institution, mixed funded, under Ecuadorian law it is called a mix capital non-profit organization, it is 50% civilian and 50% Ecuadorian government through Ecuadorian Air Force.

Space Adventures is a provider for EXA and FAE, actually is providing services to retrofit our next 0G plane, a FAE Boeing 727-100 as Space Adventures own Zero-G corporation.

As for EXA developing an spacecraft, that's beyond my security clearance and well above my pay grade.

Airwolf754 (talk) 21:31, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I will try to work some of this into the article. Rmhermen (talk) 23:39, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spaceflight portals

Hello! As an member editor of one or more of the Spaceflight, Human spaceflight, Unmanned spaceflight, Timeline of spaceflight or Space colonisation WikiProjects, I'd like to draw to your attention a proposal I have made with regards to the future of the spaceflight-related portals, which can be found at Portal talk:Spaceflight#Portal merge. I'd very much appreciate any suggestions or feedback you'd be able to offer! Many thanks,

WikiProject Spaceflight activity

Hello there! As part of an effort to determine how many active editors are present in the spaceflight-related WikiProjects, changes have been made to the list of members of WikiProject Spaceflight. If you still consider yourself to be an active editor in this project, it would be appreciated if you would please edit the list so that your name is not struck out - thus a clearer idea of the number of active editors can be determined. Many thanks in advance!
