Hi, David! Since I admire your great work on "Da Wiki," I was wondering if you could help me out with Broken Sword. Since all of the installment articles are already GAs, only the series' main article needs to be promoted to GA. Star Trek III: The Search for Spock is a 1984 motion picture released by Paramount Pictures. The film is the third feature film of the Star Trek science fiction franchise and is the center of a three-film story arc that begins with Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and concludes with Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. After the death of Spock (Leonard Nimoy) the crew of the USS Enterprise returns to Earth. When James T. Kirk (William Shatner) learns that Spock's spirit is held in the mind of Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Kirk and company steal the Enterprise to return Spock's body to his home planet. The crew must also contend with hostile Klingons, led by Kruge (Christopher Lloyd), bent on stealing the secrets of a powerful terraforming device. Paramount commissioned the film after positive critical and commercial reaction to The Wrath of Khan. Nimoy directed, the first Star Trek cast member to do so. Producer Harve Bennett wrote the script starting from the end and working back, and intended the destruction of the Enterprise to be a shocking development. The filmed grossed $76 million at the domestic box office and a total of $87 million worldwide. Critical reaction to The Search for Spock was mixed to positive. Reviewers generally praised the cast and characters, while criticism tended to focus on the plot; the special effects were conflictingly received. How are you? It has been a while, I'm gladd your still at it so rigorously! I'm still around on Wikipedia on occasion. I tried creating a new article by copying some of the text as a basis to create an article, calledEureqa, and an admin named User:Fuhghettaboutit deleted it. Perhaps it was a fair point that the text needed to be modified, or removed, but he has refused to restore the article for me to improve. and now, he has deleted a Wikipedia Good Article unilaterally and with no consultation, Mark Twain House. I need some assistance on this issue, could you or another admin help? Thanks. In fact, I really think someone should start going through his contribution history to see if he has a record of deleting other Good Articles on very weak grounds and without any warning or communication of the issues involved, speedy deletion of articles are not for notable articles, let alone Good ones. I didn't bother voting against it for various reasons, but I disagree that desysopping for the wheel-warring actions in question should be off the table. Unfortunately I can't verify how reliable those figures are. However, I would say that from other sources I have seen, the figures are all very similar to one another, and therefore I find it hard to imagine that if these different sources are all quoting similar figures that they've all managed to get them wrong. Re. Peer review for Forced evictions in Baku

It's interesting you should mention the background section as being the aspect of the article that is most lacking. I had actually reduced the amount of text being used in that section just six days ago on recommendation from Khazar2 (his sentiments were very similar to yours with regards to what the background section ought to include). This is what it looked like prior. However, I agree that the #1 thing which needs to be improved upon is elaborating on the run-up to the evictions/demolitions. I do think the situation merits its own separate article, although I'm not sure if other people would agree with me on that point — the country's human rights article already does have a subsection regarding the expropriations, but I think the information could be covered in more extensive detail on its own article.

Backstage at the Smithsonian Libraries

Backstage at the Smithsonian Libraries is part of Wikipedia Loves Libraries 2012, the second annual continent-wide campaign to bring Wikipedia and libraries together with on-site events. Running this fall through October and November, libraries (and archives) will open their doors to help build a lasting relationship with their local Wikipedian community.

Organized by Wikimedia DC, this event will take place on October 12, 2012, and will include new editor training, a "backstage pass" tour of the National Museum of Natural History, and an edit-a-thon. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Without them, no one would ever know what is true and what is false and Wikipedia probably wouldn't be where it is today. So this month, I will talk about how to check for references, how reliable they are, and so on and so forth. The first thing to do when reviewing an nominee is to do a quick scan of the article. One of the things to look for is if the article has references! If you do find a list of references (and in most cases you will) make sure to look through each and every one. If you want to save some time, use this tool as it will tell you if there are any problematic references in the article you are reviewing. Next, check the reliability and type of the references/sources. In terms of the type of reference, check to see how many primary and/or secondary sources are included. Primary sources are the ones published by the subject of the article. For example, if the subject of the article has to do with the iPhone 4s and the source is published by Apple, it is considered a primary source. Secondary sources are those not published by the subject of the article (or in close relation to it). Newspapers are examples of secondary sources and considered one of the better types to include in the article (not saying primary sources are bad). If you find that most/all of the references are primary sources, notify the nominator about this issue(s) and place the article on hold once you have completed the review. Only in the event that a secondary source can't be found as a replacement, then the primary source can remain. If there is a good mix of primary and secondary sources, that is perfect and no references need to be changed. Now, reliability. Forums are generally not considered reliable and some blog's may not be reliable either. Newspapers, most sources published by the subject, some blogs, etc. are considered reliable. If you don't know wether the source is reliable, ask for a second opinion. For more info about how to identify wether a reference is reliable or not, visit this article . Finally, one of the more basic things to look for is that every statement in the article has at least one reference! The only case that a statement doesn't need a reference is when it is common sense that the statement is defiantly true and/or in the case where the statement can't be challenged, as per what Wikipedia says, "All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be attributed to a reliable published source using an inline citation."
