Wiki Loves Monuments
September is the time for the annual Wiki Loves Monuments competition to get quality photographs of listed buildings and scheduled monuments in the UK. It would be good if any members in the Yorkshire area got out and about taking images of any monuments or listed buildings that they find. There are still several entries on the various list articles without images and it would be best to prioritise these if you are in the right place. Details for this years competition can be found here. There are cash prises of up to £250 for the best images that are submitted.
If you are not in Yorkshire then you are still able to join in as the competition covers the whole of the UK, separate competitions are available for other areas of the world if you are not UK based.
WikiProject Yorkshire Collaboration of the Month Project
The September 2022 articles selected below are an editor choice as there were no nominations on the project talk page.
The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR. You will also have to check that the Commons link is set correctly.

music to explore - the new Casals Forum for chamber music is just wonderful. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:13, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
This is great thanks @Gerda Arendt! I either didn't know or had forgotten that we are losing COE! Aaargh and aaargh again. Sounds like yet another Brexit Bonus for my benighted country. (But at least we have blue passports so yay, result!) Cheers DBaK (talk) 08:48, 30 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi. I didn't add that link, merely relabeled it from official to fan site. Do delete as necessary! 2A00:23C7:AB0:A301:113:A32C:E09C:9FD2 (talk) 17:33, 28 October 2022 (UTC)
Yup, I have indeed deleted it, thanks. You did, as I said, re-add it, though this does not now matter. Feel free to reexamine your diff if you don't see what I mean. But it's all gone now anyway so, fine, and have a lovely day! cheers DBaK (talk) 00:00, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
DYK for Casals Forum
On 30 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Casals Forum, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the walls of the Kronberg Academy's Casals Forum(pictured) are curved and covered with wood in a manner reminiscent of a string instrument? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Casals Forum. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Casals Forum), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
Today we sang the choral concert of the year, Verdi's Requiem with an interesting band of marimba, piano, horn, bass, timpani and drum (pictured). - Seeing a pic I took on the Main felt good. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:14, 3 October 2022 (UTC)
Oh lovely more pics!! Thanks @Gerda Arendt and sorry I have not been in touch more ... it's a very struggly time of year! Thanks again DBaK (talk) 20:42, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
never mind, another pictured DYK (but not pictured by me this time): look at power work tensions (if you translate) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:40, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
today's DYK: two facts from the two concert of this years Rheingau Musik Festival I liked best, both a cappella singing. If you follow the songs, you see a circus, where I performed singing, and in the end the whole tent joined for Dona nobis pacem. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:08, 19 October 2022 (UTC)

would you know a source for his mother's birth name, date and location? - Different question: the wrong horn was pictured for BWV 40, - which one would be right? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:30, 3 November 2022 (UTC)
Sorry @Gerda! I have had a bit of a crazy time at work and didn't get focussed on this in time. I am glad you sorted it – I'm afraid I could not have helped with E's DoB ... I could have got it, but not an RS! The horn ... interesting. I'm not going down that rabbit hole about modern terminology but yes, as you say, the photo was wrong. We could look for a replacement but it depends how precise you want to get – will some kind of generic Baroque horn do, or will people nitpick and say no no that one is not plausible for that particular work? I'm worried that my rather limited knowledge would not be up to the latter.
I didn't know about the Sextet and would love to hear it. It looks like maybe it is not yet recorded ... or do you know something?
Oh and BWV106! Bliss! Do you remember, you identified it for me a few years back from a description of the tweetling recorder bits? So great.
Thanks again for all this, cheers, DBaK (talk) 10:09, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
I remember now! the recorders were just stunning and in tune! - they used the same combination of recorders and gambas for BWV118 which was convincing. My most recent musical experience was singing with the Renaissance Street Singers in rehearsal something like 10 pieces by as many composers, including 8 whose names I hadn't heard yet, Josquin being the exception, and then 4 encores by more familiar people, - will upload pic. - Graham gave me the data, we'll see if he will be taken a RS ;) She and Lucy were there for the event, but I couldn't get to them, and they didn't stay after the longish concert. It was a pleasure to watch them listening. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:20, 12 November 2022 (UTC)

Happy Christmas
A very Happy Christmas to all project members, hope you are all OK. The number of articles supported by the project is increasing slowly so thanks for all the hard work during the year. At this time of the year there is an increase in vandalism so if you have time keep an eye on the articles tagged with the project's banner to keep then vandal free. Many of the regulars are away over the feastive period so more chance for things to go unnoticed. Take care hope to see you all active in the new year.
